It's...not really delicious. I've been spoiled by Popeye's Chicken, though, I don't think I can go back to KFC.

Confession: I almost made one of those silly "My confessions are all stupid" confessions...

old KFC was great, when the batter was half an inch thick after cooking. Horribly health wise, but SOOOOO good. Nowadays the only reason to go are the Honey BBQ wings. Popeye's is awesome because of good chicken, onion rings, as well as the red beans and rice.

Confession: I forgot my wallet today, and have not eaten since 23:00 yesterday. This is not helping my hunger.

Confession: I wouldn't even consider turning away dying kittens to be a confession so much as a victory. I have a deep-seated hatred of cats.

Confession: I'm getting sick of putting all of my problems on my friends, especially when I have this thread that I could be dumping on instead. Latest episode: Me complaining about how I don't have a passion for anything that could possibly pay the bills (only passion I could think of was reading). Also whining about lack of ability to motivate myself (suggestions welcome).

Also, if anyone here lives in or around Madison, WI, I'm looking for work down there (preferably a technician position) so that I can move there. My reason for moving there is that I have a friend who lives there who needs a roommate. This would be the same friend that I am in love with, but not vice versa, that I talked about way back in February.

Google has successfully brought me AIM through Gmail. Now I don't know how to use it. :? Could someone explain how I can join the xkcd AIM chat? Maybe through a PM? I want to see all of the behind-the-scenes craziness that I keep hearin' aboot.

I was going to say something about kittens, but it was no good. Aw hell:

long kitten is... long?

THERE I said it.

I like /s/, it's where I spend most of my time on 4chan. I just wish there was a similar "Sexy Beautiful Guys" board. For all the shit that goes on at 4chan, hot guys are apparently unacceptable.

Which is damned screwed up. Especially if you know what appears on the 4chan boards.

EDIT: As for AIM, I used pidgin, and then join a chat "xkcd". But you can use the AIM thing itself, by inviting yourself into a chatroom, named xkcd. There are perhaps many other methods, of which I am not party* to.

*Is party the right word here? Is it 'parly' I mean?

Two related ones;

Confession: I love my mother. She is absolutely, constantly, amazingly, brilliant.

On Monday I spent the last bit of money that I have for the rest of the month.

Today I received the internet shopping that my mother did for me on learning that I had no more money for the rest of the month. She sent shitloads of canned stuff that'll last a while, plus things that she knows I love (like smoothies, and fresh pure orange juice, and lemon meringue pie, and STEAK), and she even sent two packets of mini chocolate eggs because she knows I won't be home for Easter.

She even has a physics degree!

Confession: Every time I hear a story about other people's bad experiences with their parents, I feel humbled by my own, and I just wish that everyone's were as great as mine.

@Fat Tony: Do it again and you're on my foe list

Two can play this game.

@elephantitis: I'm always available (when I'm here, at any rate).

@DJorgensen: I know it is good advice for everyone. I was counting on people to realise that. Because we've always had that habit we didn't actually have to do much to adjust to polygamy.

@Torvaun: I love cats. Can't handle them, though.

@Spherical Cow: 'Privy' to. Not only is it a useful restroom, it serves as a word for what you have access to. ie: I am privy to the secrets of the other two.

Here, where I'm not on entirely my own internet connection, I'm wary of venturing onto other chans, that I'm not entirely familiar with, due to their potential illegal nature (although I recognise that's potentially an issue with 4chan, but they at least clean some of that shit up.)

cypherspace wrote:Confession: Every time I hear a story about other people's bad experiences with their parents, I feel humbled by my own, and I just wish that everyone's were as great as mine.

I'd second this. I think I've struck lucky with pretty damn good parents.

EDIT: ID: Thanks. I couldn't for the life of me remember the word I was wanting.

Average age is..

Well, lemme put it to you this way.. while the average is in the 19-21 bracket, only 10% (of those who answered the poll) are 26 or older.

I'm 18, but don't feel any different from when I was 14. But when I was 14, I didn't feel any different from my 10 year-old self. I generally count my fifth-grade year as my emergence into reality. Then, in sixth grade, September 11 was a bad day, and eventually, I wind up where I'm at now.

Wow, that got kind of morbid...

I'm glad. I'm only 19. I don't want to be considered grown-up, yet. I remember September 11th 2001, but I was only 13. Even at that age, they seemed remote, still part of a world in which I was not.

I turn 27 in May, but in May 2008, I only turn 15.
I guess I'm just a freak, but I can definitely notice extreme maturity changes between myself now and myself last July.
If it makes you guys feel any better, that was probably the single month (excluding the first nine of my life) that I changed more than any other.

it's funny... i'm in the top 10% of the age distribution on these fora (i was graduated from university and working full time when 9/11 occurred) and i *don't* feel old. nor do i feel the urge to grow up. getting older is something we all do (with any luck at all) but growing up seems to be pretty optional.
and the getting older has come with some perks, so no complaints from me!! :D

I far as I knew back then, I would never reach 18. Now, it feels weird when I realize that all of the girls I like are also 18. All the girls from middle school somehow turned into the girls that used to babysit me. WTF?

As far as I feel it, yes. It's when the shit hit the fan for me. Nothing seems the same since then, but it's far enough back that it's effects have been diluted by time.

I basically got to wake him up with "Uh.. dude.. Your boss called and was kinda wierd sounding, but you don't have to go to work, I'm pretty sure you didn't get fired, she said something about turning on the ne... HOLY SHIT! Get out here dude!!"

I was in fourth grade at the time. When the first plane struck, my parents picked me up from school.
I walked in the door, and just as I sat on my couch the second tower fell.

In America they made such a huge fuss about 9-11 that it's probably firmly engraved on everyone's brain. And it did change things around here enough that it marks a shift in eras. It probably helps that that happened my first semester of college (physics lecture, and then we all ran down the the student union to watch the news) so I was off on my own for the first time when all this stuff was going on.

So I'm 24, 25 in May, and look about 19. It doesn't really bother me but it's more irritating now that I'm out of school. I can even pull off 17 if I'm wearing the right clothes. People just automatically assume I'm in college. When I meet people out swing dancing, if they feel like chatting the first thing they ask is "College X or College Y?" No, dammit! It's even better if they then ask if I'm still in high school. And then sometimes there's the slightly patronizing "Oh, but you'll be so glad of it when you're older!" If I'm lucky that'll kick in by the time I hit 30. Maybe not. My sister's pushing 30 and she looks about 19 too. My dad was still getting proofed in the days of the 18 year old drinking age when he was 30. When do I get to be smug about looking young instead of slightly irritated?

Damn, *third* grade!? Let me get my ugly red hat and purple shirt and go trip people with my cane!

Confession: I thought I was done with pointless teenage angst... for the older members, this shit stops eventually, right? Right?

OT, I was ten on 9/11/2001, and it was when I was waking up to the radio as an alarm. I almost just turned it off like normal, but my mom was listening and we got to hear about the whole thing.
