I say we try to rick roll a show or some major public event. If we do that we catch numerous people, and may even set off another rick roll if it makes the news.

okay. how AWESOME would it be? Live-rickrolling Rick Astley himself. That's (dare I say it?) one-upping the XKCD comic!

Hm, some interesting points have been raised.

I was about to come in here to say something which has already been said -- that we should pick a UK target to keep costs and complications down.

Also, perhaps if we gave Rick some say in who he got to rickroll, he might be more willing to do it for free/cheap. Jeremy Clarkson would be a great target, as I think he's a huge prat, but would he know what a rickroll is? Are there any internet-type celebrities in the UK?

Rickrolling Rick himself is also an interesting idea, but what would we roll him with? A boombox? An impersonator?

Anyway, we'd have to choose between the two ideas before going forward.

Only if half of them are arranged to be a half-second off, so there's a strange disjointed echoing effect.

We also need to get in touch with the guys that hacked that TV weather forecast and overlaid a mushroom cloud on it not too long ago...

[Edit] Ooooh, even better (well, easier) idea - phone into a show, wait until you get on air and then blast the song down the phone line.

I've got it! We need someone who works for a weather channel to play the rickroll video and audio as the greenscreen background during a weather forecast!

Rickroll porn, I say. Picture a typical porn viddie and, say, five minutes into it, when things start getting heavier, one of the male performers spontaneously busts into 'Never Gonna Give You Up'.

Bonus points for actually having it feature on a (preferably non-amateur) site, thus potentially Rick-rolling a small bunch of viewers at the most awkward of times. Extra Bonus Points for the guy being an extra-coiffured Peter North.

I'd loll (but then I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack.)

I like that idea. Plus it opens up the possibility of someone getting caught 'whacking it' to the surprising basso of Rick Astley.

You just made me think of these 'car radio symphonies' I once read about... how about a small fleet of cars rickrolling people at intersections? Edit: Bonus points for having the cars be a funeral procession, with a Rick Astley impersonator suddenly busting out of the casket at a busy intersection. ZOMBIE Rick Astley . Might bring about a few court dates from parents with small children, though, I'm afraid.

It's not that epic, though, unless you picked some really busy intersection at the worst (best) possible time. Although traffic cops in the area might not see the fun in it.

Unless, of course, the father is Rick Astley himself, which would be impossibly fucked-up on so many levels...

A mass of (mostly UK, if Rick need be involved) xkcders with boomboxes (or MP3 players with little speakers, more probably :D )suddenly pitching up and rickrolling someone (either Rick himself or lead by Rick or a lookalike) seems pretty easy to arrange/afford.
