This is my current one. One of my early programming projects was for making POV-Ray scene files from Transport Tycoon savegames, and this is an example of what the output looked like after being rendered. Like all my projects, I got bored of it and never finished it...

This is probably going to be my next one... a screenshot from Neverwinter Nights 2, which I just bought (you can tell I'm right on the cutting edge with my game purchases. I still haven't got round to buying GTA:SA!).

The kanji on the desktop act as links to various folders. And yes, they actually have a meaning that's fairly close to the purpose of the folders they link to. Though I had to use "Universe" for internet, and "Drama" for videos, since they're both too modern words.

I'm running XP Media Center Edition, with desktop icons hidden, as well as Yahoo Widgets for weather, calendar, system stats. To clarify the HD stats, I have two hard drives in my laptop (C: and D:), and also an external hard drive (320 Gb, G:). However, it's not plugged into my computer now, hence the blank number.

Basically, stuff that isn't that useful/cool/used often is in the Dungeon Dimensions, and everything else "lives" on the Discworld.

What? I'm not weird! :|

So, who else has this comic (specifically, the second panel) saved for emergency situations?

Here is mine. I'm glad I got a 1680x1050 screen, I need a huge area. Actually my desktop is used as a buffer: I put there all the shit I download from the web before deciding if I'll keep it.
Things began to go wrong when I said to myself "I'll format next week, non need to clean up the mess" for one month... I'll defenestrate in five minutes.

I used to have one, but it's the "I'll format in a few days" syndrom... Actually formatting occurred after a few weeks.

It's now all clean and pretty. And KDE.

Has anyone mentioned how much this thread would SUCK on an Eee Pc? Or any other ultraportable? I'm on my 1024x768 ultraportable now, and it's still sort of painful, especially since I'm finding that side-scrolling is pretty slow in Ubuntu. I must fix it.

It's from flickr.

Now using a transparent version of my Samurize config, and, less pretentiously, Yod'm 3D, an abandoned virtual desktop manager that's about as close as you can get to Compiz Fusion in Windows XP.

That's pretty cool, I didn't know it was available in windows. I remember playing around with it when I used linux, it was good for novelty purposes. I'm going to end up trying it out on windows now, thanks.

I tried out DeskSpace at work and was not overly impressed (granted my work pc is not all that beefy). Compiz fusion works far far better, and I am not all that interested in multiple desktops when I have 3 monitors running already.

Anyway for some desktop showage (at 50% becayse 4480 px is a tad overkill):

Does anyone else use a "Used to be on desktop folder"? Pretty much instead of cleaning up my desktop I move EVERYTHING into a folder called used to be on desktop (or UTBOD)... it gets messy when i have a UTBOD inside of a UTBOD...
