I hate when banks pull shenanigans with the order they process transactions, just to make you go negative when you didn't have to and then bounce checks/charge you fees. It is just obnoxious and blatantly trying to screw over poor people (who are generally the ones whose finances are tight enough that they have to go deposit things quickly to cover rent etc.)

... admittedly I am also a terrible person who has not paid my entire share of rent this month due to having less than no money, but also our rent check wouldn't have bounced if not for the bank processing things specifically in messed-up order to make it bounce. :evil:

Plan a date two weeks in advance. Get screwed by work. Plan for a week later, shes got work. Plan for five days after that week, snows and roads blocked. Plan another five days later, gas leaks at her place. Plan a week after that, snow again. Plan for Thursday. Better not fucking snow again -_-;
If you start an argument over whether "they" "them" and "their" can be used as gender neutral singular pronouns, in this thread, I will do terrible, terrible things to you.

Dear me.
Learn how to wake up. You're 17, why the fuck can't you just get up at half 7 in time for school like a normal person? And why in the seven hells do you feel the need to take 14 to 17 hours of sleep on a weekend? It's not necessary!

Sincerely, you.

I have never yelled at you before, never felt the need to raise my voice. I've never left the room while you were crying.

And here i am today, and i can't feel guilty for it. All i can hope is that this isn't the end.

I hate that my flatmates think it's alright to leave washing in the machine overnight even though the machine has stopped. I also hate that someone has beaten me to the washing machine this morning (and I was up at 7.30am when they're usually all still sleeping). Normally I can cope with it but it's been going on for almost a week now and I haven't had a chance to wash my work uniform so now I'm sitting here when I should be on my way to maths hoping that the washing machine will have stopped before 9 so I might have a chance of being able to wash and mostly dry my uniform before I need to be on a bus.

At least this gives me a chance to read the 22 pages of copyright related things that are apparently required reading for one of my tutorials this afternoon that nobody told us we needed to read before an email this morning.

We now keep an IKEA bag downstairs near the washing machine, and if stuff's left in unreasonably long after it's finished (usually an hour or more) and we can't quickly track down whose it is, it goes in there. Of course, it's mainly one person who tends to leave stuff, and he's just apologetic when someone has to move it...

Everyone in my house but me doesn't believe in hanging things to dry, so we tend to just do eachothers laundry all the time.... I do laundry at most once a week, usually just to wash my work uniform, but it can be hard to get the time when everyone else seems to be doing laundry EVERY DAY.

It's especially painful given that my room is the only room in the house which shares a wall with the laundry room, and the dude upstairs likes to do laundry at three in the morning.

Ah, dorm laundry room etiquette. I try to be nice when people are slow, but I've moved quite a few loads from the dryer onto the table and left it there (it's really sad when I come back after my own stuff finishes drying and they still haven't picked it up).

Ah I remember these days well. I ought to, given that it was less than 2 years ago. Moral of the story: this is what happens when you live with other people. Yeah, the rent's cheaper, but there are so many annoyances.

Seventeen-year-olds still need more sleep than fully grown adults (8.5-9.5 hours vs. 7-9 hours). Assuming British teenagers are anything like American teenagers, you're probably only getting 7 hours, 8 at the most, and making up the sleep debt on the weekends.

Basically, if you're feeling tired, there's a good chance that it's because you aren't sleeping enough. (Or, if you're oversleeping every night, you might not be sleeping properly (and should consider talking to a doctor)).

Rant: yet another annoying problem at work caused by me not having write privileges on the network drive, made worse by it taking me the whole morning to figure out that was the cause of my problem. I understand the reasons behind it, but since every employee has been through at least several months worth of security clearance, surely it's safe enough to give us write access to non-classified partitions by default?

Oh, School of Finance, what the hell are you thinking? I am doing a postgraduate degree. I'm doing it part-time because I work during the day. Being as we're postgrads, a significant number of my classmates are also part-timers. So why in holy hell are you not offering evening classes? No really, why? I have two remaining subjects to get out of the way before I can finish with the capstone subject. The one I'm enrolled in for semester 1 is only offered on Tuesday mornings, with lab sessions immediately following the class, and only one class onna Saturday. So I think maybe I'll switch, and this semester do the one I was planning to do in semester 2. Nope, that one's only offered in intensive form, which is a combination of Wednesday evenings, Monday mornings and Saturdays. And you still haven't provided a date for the final Study Tour seminar, so I don't even know which Saturdays I have free in March. Way to screw your students. If I take a leave of absence this semester, I delay graduation by another six months. And I have no guarantee you won't pull the same bollocks next semester. With the amount you charge in fees, I'd have thought you could offer some classes at times when I can actually attend. Wankers.

I find this understandable. There are many English accents, and many Australian accents. The difference between two highly contrasting English accents is probably the greater than the distance between the closest English and Australian accents.

It isn't just Americans who have trouble telling accents apart.

Thanks.

Not so much ranting as slightly irritated at:

a) whoever left the butter out on the counter instead of putting it back in the cupboard where it belongs*;

b) the cat, for getting into the butter and smearing it all over the counter;

c) whoever cleaned up the butter dish without cleaning up the counter;

d) myself, for not checking to see if the counter needed cleaned before sitting on it to watch the sunrise;

e) Earth's axial tilt and its seasons, for 1) keeping my nice, conveniently east-facing 2nd-floor balcony covered in ice and 6°F/-14°C, making the kitchen windows and their buttery counter the (apparently) next best place to watch the sunrise and 2) shifting the sun's path far enough north south that the sunrise can't actually be seen from the kitchen windows;

f) whoever designed and built this house without including any windows from which the sunrise can be seen in the winter, leaving me with butter all over my pants and without having watched a sunrise since August;

g) myself again, for finally posting here after lurking for ages and not having anything better to say than bitching about sunrises.

*This could have, possibly, been me.

You know, if God existed, I'd like to think he'd orchestrate the little things like this.
