So my dnd group just socially imploded. one member was dating another member, things got complex, other member happened to be one of the DM's, he started being a huge deush to everyone as a result, the two broke up, dropped out, took members on either side with them.

and here i sit (currently in DM chair) like, "All i wanted was a friendly game..."

well this means a few thigns. firstly, have to find an all new group, which can be hard enough.

I may go into the position of DM completely and totally, because its fun as all hell.

I may or may not impose a "no fraternization" rule, because this is stupid.

Mostly im just disgruntled because they were halfway through my custom campaign and now, will never get to finish it. and i don't tend to recycle material. so, noone shall ever know what it was about :(

Rant at myself: I forgot to pick up my insulin from the doctors surgery today. Now they're closed for the weekend, and my remaining supply won't last that long. Not sure what to do except rock up at a NHS walk-in centre and throw myself on their mercy.

Or I could starve myself for the weekend, but I imagine that has its own health implications.

My blood sugar levels would go through the roof. It would make me dehydrated as any water I drink would pass straight through, and it would just be nasty for my long term health. However, all is not lost. The Internet tells me the pharmacy I normally collect from will still be open tomorrow, and they should have my prescription. If that fails, there's a walk - in centre in town, but that's a last resort because they'll make me wait for hours.

And it's during the hours-long wait that you go into diabetic shock, they assume you're drunk and toss you in a room by yourself, then your family sues their penes off for letting you slip into a coma.

Or not. They might just give you a sugar cube.

We are, just, a big ole' bunch of chemical reactions.

And; It's all happening at once, for some people.
You need to get some of your chemical needs met by an outside source.

What about diabetics in my nation?
With the breakdown of both the social structure and the national safety nets?

Well...Undiagnosed Hyperglycemia?
oh. What do you think?

The public health system worked better, before they fixed it.

A system that is 'There' for everyone is the proper kind of a system to have.

It got down to about 29ºF (-2ºC / 271.5 K) this morning, leaving a nice layer of frost all over my car. It's nowhere near as terrible as the ice storm we had last week, but it's still annoying. I opened this Thread to Rant.

Do you see that second system setting up?

Is that what that is?
A normal pattern?

Five days of rain followed by overcast and drizzly?
Then; Five more days of rain.

If the first rains are not too hard,
The drought might be easing.

It takes a few years for people to settle down, after a drought.

Lack of Water is a Royal Pain.
Who ordered this weather?

It looks like what Rain Dancers and Prayer Meetings were asking for.
Not too much water. Rain. But; Not too much.
Spoiler:
If one of those Hurricanes blew in and dumped a bunch of water on dry land...
That could really improve soils in The Valley.

There are Flood Control Measures in place.
Without those Flood Control Measures and Dry Soil...That could be bad.

A hurricane could leave a new rich coating of top soil
a meter thick in some parts of the valley.

That is not happening.
Besides; A good snow pack is required for Apocalyptic Flooding.

I hope you people are Happy.
It's Raining.

I'm getting really sick of this GMC Sierra/Hydro station commercial on CBC's Olympic streams. Not only does is it remarkably uninteresting and tiring, but it's often every other ad (that's not hyperbole - it's been shown 4 times in an 8 commercial string), but it seems incapable of playing remotely smoothly, making it very hard to mentally tune out. I forgot how much I hated watching things with commercials :(

Is it a Rant or a Random Thought?
It's one or the other.

The Cop Car has been gone.
I noticed its absence a few days ago.

I thought nothing of it, at the time.
It always took off, sometimes.

Why? Why do I mention it?
Well? It's something different.

Humans notice, different shit.
I am human. I noticed.

I was so frightened of Those Guys.
The Blue Uniform.

Sometimes; The clothes make the man.
That is a different Rant.

When I first began to live here.
The sight of the Cop Car frightened me.

I would push all of that to the back of my mind.
I would walk into the room and see the Cop Car;
And; Jump.

(it sure made me feel stupid.)
(if I thought about it, I Knew It Was There!)

The Guy that operated that machine, Hates Me.

umm. I am not, just, guessing.
That AssHole went after me.

He never touched me
He yelled at me using Loud Body Language, more than once.

He spoke to me in reaonable tones, once.
He had, just, come from a meeting. (shrug)

The Cop Car has been parked somewhere else.
Just out of sight?

Is it being used to intimidate someone else, these days.
Is it being parked indoors? Near, but out of sight?

Out of sight/Out of mind?
Not really.

It was there for so long.
It was a part of my view.

!I don't miss it!
It is like a Fear of Spiders.

I know there are Spiders.
If it comes back,
When it comes back,

I Might Squee.
Squee=Jump, Make Small Noise, Stare at The Dang Thing.

So, It's gone.
The view is sure different.

It is like my view has a big blank spot in it.
My eye keeps going to where the Cop Car is not.

We can get used to weird shit.
!I Do Not Miss The Cop Car!

But; It's like a Spider.
I know where it was.

Where is it, now?
Why is it there?

I am Human.
Humans are inquisitive.

I don't mind when someone makes comedic impressions of other people for a laugh in a non-abusive way, but someone I know keeps making really big misrepresentations of everyone they try to imitate when quoting them.
She always does an impression that makes the other person sound frantic and stupid, but hers sounding really composed, confident and intelligent. Problem is, when I'm actually there to see it happen, it's nothing like it. I'm not even sure it's entirely deliberate because she does it so often, it could be a habit or her warped mental perception of situations or something else.
What ever it is, it's annoying because I know some of the people she quotes are genuinely nice people or just every day folk who you can't really make judgement on what they say.
It's some kind of self-righteousness which is subtle, but once you've heard it for the 20th time (I've heard it more than that) from 20 different situations, you can't help but notice how dickish it is.

Well, you wouldn't want to store your random numbers in the clear, would you? Where anyone could get at them?

It's vital in block-device encryption that the encrypted data (seemingly random bytes) are indistinguishable from the rest of the disk (generated (pseudo-)random bytes). Otherwise, disclosure of usage patterns is possible and your fancy block-device encryption becomes comparable in strength to filesystem-level encryption.

Not that that filesystem-level encryption is a bad thing, per se, but there are easier ways of doing that than doing block-device encryption wrong.

I suppose. I don't think the extra work is worth block-level.

Plus now that drives are primarily moving SSDs, block level just doesn't really work as well anymore. Between leaks from trim and the SSD itself doing whatever the hell it wants to the data. Granted, if you're on a spinning disk it doesn't matter much.

Why do I get so randomly completionist about pointless timewasting activities? Like, at the moment I'm reading through the notalwaysright.com archives, which is fine, although not super-great. But for some reason I feel like it's important to finish reading them as soon as possible, so I force myself to read way past the point where I'm actually enjoying it, while not doing more important/interesting things I could be doing. And the sooner I finish the archives, the sooner I run out of something kinda-enjoyable to do in the periods at work where I actually want to have something like that to kill an hour or so.

oh. I understand that.
It's like having a book to read.
And; Reading it too fast.

Some books are so good that I would read
them the way I eat a rich desert.

I never missed a desert the way
I missed a book that ended too soon.

The internet has loads of good reads.
Books were not as easily available.

I feel that way about these forums. Once I start in, I have to get through everything in View My Posts and IXCT/WhatIf. Also that way for imgur's Most Viral, and a bunch of other forums, webcomics, my Wikipedia watchlist... I started a whole bunch of time wasting things to keep me occupied when I'm bored but don't have enough time or energy to work on my own projects, and now I feel like I have to stay current on all of them, which means I never have time or energy to work on my own projects... ugh.

Playing.

Playing What?
I don't know.
The only way to find out is to ask them.

Spoiler:
There was a Time and Place that was so funny.
People Played Calvin Ball and I watched from afar.

Desmond Morris created a Coffee Table Book.
A woman brought it to my flat, once upon a time,
A very long time ago. I fell in Love with that Book.

Here is part of That Book.(shrug)
http://anthroweb.ucsd.edu/~jhaviland/Ge ... 24-082.pdf

It has a YouTube Companion!

You internet people have EveryThing.
(except each other?)

One section showed and explained The Streaker.
A popular song had a few decipherable words.

"The marching band refused to yield."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAsV5-Hv-7U

Nonsensical words that fit a photo from a Coffee Table Book.

One iconic photograph of a young, white man.
He was lovely, he was naked, he was being escorted off a FootBall field.

His escorts were wearing Formal English Police Uniforms.
(They could be members of a Marching Band.)

The FootBall team were not in the photo.
The three man team won The Game that day.

One officer was looking down.
He was holding his helmet over the naked man's Important Bits.

I received hours of pleasure from That Book.
That one photograph in That Book was not my favorite.

I had a favorite.
I can't remember what it was.

The Book was trained.
It had been opened to the same pages, over and over.

I kept book marks in the pages I liked the most.
ok. I am weird.

I like to show people things inside Books.
There is not one photo inside That Book that is Porn.

Unless you look at it Correctly.
Then, Everything! Is! Porn!

The Mind of The Troubled Teen.
Amazingly enough;...

They are not all the same.
What did you do when you were a Teen-ager?
Spoiler:
You are a Teen-ager, Now! (fuck)
Dear God.
I hope you are not doing what I did.

Do Not Hike in Heels on Ice!
Well… What kind of shoes do you wear?

Girls wore heels when I was a Teen.
Or; I decided they did
So; I did.
I was a girl.

We went to the WaterFalls in winter.
How did we get there?

Automobile, of some kind.
For teen-agers, those guys could drive in snow.

The trail was clear.
Clear Ice!

Stay at home.
It's safer.

They were skipping school.
I didn't go to school.

I was what was known as a Unsuccessful Student.
Who are You?
Me?

Unsuccessful Student. When at school.
When hanging out with The Guys.

I was The Interrogator.

That is where I learned about algebra, geometry, how far light travels,
and Russia is so close we can see the lights of Moscow from here.

It was more fun than school.
Don't do what I did.

Stay home.
Go to school.

Or; Don't.
I don't care.

(fuck)
Spoiler:
Oh! Oh!
My favorite photo was of a row of young men.
They wearing Run Around, Jump and Play Uniforms of some kind.

Shorts, knee high socks, long sleeves.
They looked cold and frightened.

Some are covering their Junk with their hands.
I laughed. (Hey! Those guys had choices!)

I would ask people from other cultures, "What are those men doing?"
Some people are so shy, they don't know.

Well?! What do you know about men?
What do they tell you?
Spoiler:
Then, what do they do?
For many men that photo makes sense.

Of course, they will stand there and take a direct hit
to the head or any other spot on the body.
Anything for their Mates.

But; Not the Junk.
That is asking too much.

They say it is like an instinct.
What do you think?

that does remind me of some things we often must do to get vendors to accept returns on flaky products.

its SO much easier to report something as DOA than "intermittent failure"

Yeah, this product was definitely a DOA, but if something works for a day, then dies, I'm not going to tell them "Well, it worked at first, but then it died." That's a surefire way to get them to say "Sorry pal, your fault."

How are you going to do that?

FUCK why do you people have to be so loud? You talk loud, you fuck loud, you listen to loud music, with the windows down, you walk around heavy and loud, like you're marking the territory. SHITTING ALL OVER the world with your loudness.

I'm just going to go ahead and remind everyone that you're joking, and that the message will not be repeated every day, and that you're actually ranting about how whether or not you give a shit about Twitch.tv (I don't) or give a single flying fuck at a rolling doughnut about watching streaming video games (I don't) or even really care about Pokemon (... I actually care in theory, but I have no idea if the new games let you start with a Charmander and that's all I want to start with, but I don't feel like tracking down a 15+ year old cartridge or even a ROM, so in practice I don't actually give a fuck), this Twitch Playes Pokemon thing is fucking inescapable.

Is it really anywhere other than reddit/imgur and the actual stream?

If not, just unsubscribe from the subreddit. If you browse /r/all and complain about it, you're worse than people who complain about seeing spoilers when they know full well that they'll be there.
