I guess there's more to see, but Pisa is way too crowded to actually be able to enjoy it. I remember there being a market which I thought would've been really nice if it weren't for the fact that you could see nothing of it because of all the people.

Besides running around with signs that say "I hate the bad things that people a lot like me did," Muslims (and anybody with a skin color suggesting they could be middle eastern) could also renounce their religion to appease these bigots; also, have they considered becoming white and adapting all Western customs? That would make everything a lot easier, then "Zepaps" could tell the good people from the bad people (i.e. people not like him). (sorry I guess I have a lot of anger and snark today)

I am sorry to hear that your friend went through that, it is awful. There were assaults on middle eastern folk in my community following the 9/11 attacks, and it really shook my trust in the supposedly "liberal" community I lived in at the time. I remember one family of Italians with more olive than average complexions who had to plaster their business with American flags after that, to avoid being attacked.

Rewriting all the supposedly-holy books to remove promotions of physical violence, misogyny, racism, homophobia, contradictions, injustice and general intolerance couldn't hurt.

Edit: just in case my pluralisation wasn't clear, I don't restrict this rewriting to either the Qur'an or people with darker skin than me. The Bible could do with quite a rework too, and while I haven't read them all I'm sure I could find something objectionable in most holy books.

Dammit, world.

Yeh.

The girlfriend of one of my partner's friends shared a pic on facebook that he thought was a bit weird and he found that it came from a pro racial segregation group. And a couple of clicks later and we found that there are lots of them. And that they have their own little slogans, symbols, youtube videos... all sorts of creepiness. And 15,000 likes. They talk about ethnic cleansing and getting rid of all the anti-racists too.

I mean, it's not like I was naive enough to be entirely unaware of white supremacists and neo-nazis. But I'll admit I was unaware of the directive brain-washing of large numbers of people with claims that they're not white-supremacist, they're just really worried about the current 'genocide' that 'whites' are under-going, and y'know, there shouldn't be any other variations of skin-colour around cause god forbid one of their relatives might fall in love with someone of a different skin colour and then they might have babies and all the beautiful whiteness that should have been will be NON-white and ohmigosh the whitness might somehow go EXTINCT (we all know that when you make babies with a non-white then none of the white DNA gets transferred at all), and that whiteness is so special and important, not cultures or personalities or the fact that our children might want to fall in love with someone who's caring and intelligent and awesome, not if they're not WHITE... hell, better a murderous neo-nazi than someone who's not white. Oh, and every single European colony is a 'white country', in case you weren't aware. Africans should go back to Africa, they don't belong in these 'white countries', like South Africa.

Ugh. I need to go over to the kindness, happiness, and love thread to keep remembering all the positive shit in life.

Italy as a whole is now a tourist trap. All the land is bought up. Go on a trip to Venice and people will charge you money to sit on their curb.

Eh, my knowledge is secondhand, a friend went to Europe with his class and had many humorous tales. His experience of Venice was unpleasant at the least.

OK, my rant:
The other day, someone was over. I step out of the room to grab a glass of tea. They decide to poke their head through my book collection. I walk back in they are looking at me weird asking "why do own Mein Kampt?" like they were outraged that I owned the book. In this wondrous instance my wit didn't fail me and I replied "you know who else didn't like people reading certain books?"
And if they had looked two inches over on that shelf they would have seen both The Prince and The Fountainhead along with a dozen other varied political books. I pointed that out as they were still reeling from my rhetorical question and all was good.
I remember another time my neighbor was mowing his lawn when some Jehovah Witnesses knocked on my door, I was kind enough to be polite and accept a copy of Watchtower and he had to walk over and go off about how they were a cult to them.
And then the time I was at a used bookstore getting that copy of the Fountainhead and someone else in the store had to go on a micro rant about how Ayn Rand only thinks in black and white and the world has lots of grey areas, like it was his responsibility to plant his ideological flag in my brain.

But seriously, why do people get outraged and become jackasses when someone entertains or tries to comprehend foreign ideas? I swear. Society sucks.

Yeah, I get con drop all the time. There's a definite high that comes with spending all weekend geeking out with thousands of other people, many of them friends. That high comes with its own crash.

Rant? I feel like a Rant!

They talked me out of supporting the death penalty by showing me a Functional Justus System.

I supported the Death Penalty, not for the Guilty.
I supported the Death Penalty in Love and Support of The Innocent.

No Torture! That was The Most Important thing to me.
Treat every single One as if he or she is Innocent even After Death!

Everyone dies. Not everyone must Suffer. Well; There is suffering in Knowing.
Still; The Death Penalty can be carried out with Dignity and Grace.

2.) To speak with your Attorney.
3)To practice your Religion.
4) Crap. Who knows?

Seems so much better than beating people to death.
Seems so much better than starving people.
Seems so Civilized. A person should have a Choice.

That is what we can do when working Together.
We can give people dignified Choices.

you would add the exchange account in to the android mail client. it should say "corporate", or "exchange", or possibly "activesync" in the account type in android where you go to add it.

of course, that implies that the exchange account is accessible to the android device (either through OWA/activesync over the internet, or you only connect to it via wifi on the network local to the server), and that you know the connection info (unless it's public and the autoconnect settings are configured correctly for your domain).

there are other apps that connect to exchange/activesync connections like touchdown, but they all have the same requirements as above.

also, just a note (because i have to tell my users this)....ANY device that connects to ANY activesync server (exchange) has to be able to abide by the rules of that activesync server. one of those rules is the ability to support remote wipe. which means the exchange admin can, with the press of a few buttons, wipe your phone (internal and external storage) back to factory defaults WITHOUT warning you. you'll pull your phone out of your pocket and it will be like you just took it out of the box. it'll be waiting to be activated and it will be completely empty (SD and all)

That's actually a nice feature to have in case you lose your phone (or it gets stolen). Call your IT guys and they wipe your phone of all the information you don't want anyone to have.

And unless your sysadmin is a BOFH, it won't happen any other time.

Would depend on the IT policies, wouldn't it? Though that's probably a common one.

My phone automatically syncs daily backups of my apps and data whenever I'm on wifi though, so this wouldn't worry me really. But then I'm not in a rush to take my work home with me. :P

no..it's a policy that has to be allowed on the phone for it to connect to the server. period. it's company policy whether it's ever used, or if any of the other available policies (password policies, encryption policies, etc..). the phone HAS to support remote wipe or it will never connect to the exchange server. having to support it, and it ever being used are two different things though.

That is amazing.
Photos in The Cloud?
Are Photos in The Cloud permanent?

Well? As permanent as digital stuff gets?
Once a person has e-mailed a piece of information, does it become a part of The Cloud?

So, Magical. So, Frightening. Like a Real Live Force of Nature.
What is in The Cloud? Everything?

Regular Clouds are mostly air. So is The Cloud?

no, only things that are on the phone or the external storage. if you've saved it somewhere other than the device then it can't get wiped (just like Xeio's backups)

I've only ever wiped one phone that was a BYOD type thing (not owned by us). it was because of the way the guy got fired and the timing....we had authorized him to take a bunch of drawings to a customer and for whatever reason his manager decided that putting them all on the guy's phone was a good idea (against my advice).....as soon as the guy left to go to the customer they found something that caused them to fire the guy....so we had to dump his phone and get him back in the office to fire him.

This is also why you never use a personal phone for company business. If they want you to have e-mail on a phone, they can buy you a fucking phone.
