I applied for a job a few weeks back at a grocery store. (Night crew, specifically)Ended up getting it with no real surprise. (I've worked for them elsewhere in the past.) So I do the training at 2pm in the afternoon and stay until 6pm. Then I look at my schedule and it turns out that I'm working that very same night at midnight until 8am the next morning. I go home, can't sleep, head back at 11:45 to start work and the whole night ends up being a huge disaster. The night crew manager was a total dick the entire night and spending more time harassing me about my work pace than trying to help me.

Long story short I finish the shift, albeit immensely pissed off. I go home, get some sleep and go back and tell them that I can't work night shift anymore because of this guy. It was too intolerable and just plainly a night from hell. The manager doesn't give a shit, asks me if I want to move to day shift and I agree. I wanted to voice my complaint about the night shift supervisor being a dick with him, but he didn't care enough when I raised it with him. Gets even more pissed off when I tell him I couldn't work that night because of my sleep pattern being totally fucked up.

So I go into work today and everything is pretty good. People are nice, everyone is pretty decent but I look at my schedule for the next three weeks and he's got my scheduled for a mere 6 hours per week, and the rest of the days are probably set to "on-call" days where they call me when they need me.

So yeah. Looks like I need a new job. That isn't going to work.

I just realised that I procrastinated the whole day away; this means that I'm gonna have no spare time all week because of a stupid amount of homework (what, I ask you, possessed me to do an extra subject this semester?)

Okay. So after printing out 76 pages worth of The Analects of Confucius, I discover that it's missing 6 passages that I need to read. SIX!!!

I'm really. REALLY. not happy.

We got a note that a package was waiting at the post office. I knew it was very unlikely but I really hoped it would be my XKCD stuff. Of course it wasn't and my hopes were crushes. Damn you, illogical emotions.

I got sent to the Principle's office today because I laughed during the "moment of silence." I couldn't help it, they left the mic on and the phones were ringing. I held it in as long as I could. :(

So I come home today, exhausted and hungry, and thouroughly wanting to relax and eat something, when my roomate asks me "did you pay rent on time?"

"Yes" I assured her, because I did pay the rent, in full, on time.

"There was a failure to pay notice on the door"

...

I have a copy of the check and a bank statement proving that THE GODDAMN CHECK CLEARED and they're telling me we're getting evicted in three days...

And for some reason, the apartment manager is only in the office three days a week for three hours a day. Three days a week that I'M IN FUCKING CLASS AND CAN'T COME IN TO TALK TO HER.

So tomorrow I have to get ahold of the bitch somehow and get her to pull her head out of her ass. Hopefully the DOCUMENTS PROVING I PAID THE GODDAMN RENT will help in this regard.

*sigh* I know I'm being melodramatic; since I can prove I paid the rent there shouldn't be an issue, but it's really, really annoying to come home to this kind of bullshit, especially when I'm not the one who's fucked anything up.

This morning, my shoelace caught on a water spigot and I tripped and fell into a bunch of loose rocks. Now my knee is all bloody.

EDIT: Shizo: They sent you to the office for that? I had my hands in my pockets during the pledge and they didn't do anything. >_>

If you live in the U.S., eviction is a long and hellish process for the landlord, and if they're smart they'll send you the notice as soon as they think they might want to evict you, because it will probably be months before they're legally allowed to remove you against your will. It doesn't always mean they have definitely decided on eviction.

Also you should contact the closest tenant's rights organization to make sure you are aware of all your rights and what you can do if they are violated. Landlords have a lot more to fear from tenants who know the system than vice versa—even good landlords.

I built a new computer, it was my understanding going into it that dual channel memory was to be installed in alternating slots, and the fact that my motherboard's memory slots were color coded that way reassured that it was correct.

It would freeze on install, never working longer than 15 minutes. I put the memory side by side and all is well. RTFM FTL

Yeah. It's set up on most motherboards I've seen that the slots are laid out with channels like this:
ABAB
so that putting the two sticks in consecutive slots sets you up for dual channel. Confusing, but that's how they do it.

A stupid dog and presumably its stupider owner ran out onto the highway tonight, causing the car in front of me to brake suddenly and myself to brake not quite suddenly enough. Fortunately all that I have is a small tow ball shaped dent in the bumper of my car. *sigh* I wish I had a roo bar on my car so I could plow through morons on the road.

Having my alarm clock not go off. Usually, I figure it's something I did to screw it up and just can't remember because i suck at mornings...but now that I've had it happen 3 days in a row, obviously something is amiss. Further testing is required.

Oh, also when people let their kids play in the parking lot, but obviously have not warned them about the dangers of moving vehicles. Really, when I start my jeep and get ready to back out...this is not the best time to walk up behind it and play with the spare tire. Especially when you are only about 3 feet tall at best.
On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

tarkadal - Perth people can't drive. I'm sorry, they just can't.

Meaux - I have the same fucking problem, it's so irritating. I buy something nice, and sooner or later (usually sooner) I do something stupid and either ruin it, at least a little. When I was looking for work in London I got my v. expensive suit drycleaned after the flight etc, and then proceeded to lean against a pigeon-shit covered fence 5 minutes before the interview. I buy a record, and then before I've even listened to it I drop the needle on it, then bump it across when trying to pick the needle up. Waste!

Nothing irritating has happened today though. Lucky me!

Last night, I woke up and was thirsty. I journeyed to the kitchen in the pitch black, barefooted, and smelled something awful. I made it to the kitchen and find out I just walked through a minefield of dog shit. I am very lucky not to have stepped in ANY of it... but then I had to clean it up.

On the up side, I FINALLY got my financial aid sorted out.

The weather today couldn't seem to decide whether to be hot or cold. When I woke up, it was in the thirties (F). When I got home from school, it was rather hot out. When I walked the dog two hours later it was back to being really fuckin' cold. And now I'm hot again :?

Well my water heater is busted which flooded half the basement. This happened yesterday but I figured I would let it ripen before I told it. So half the downstairs carpet is torn up, a bunch of stuff is ruined, and we had to have extremely loud dehumidifiers running all night which, seeing as how my room is downstairs, made it really hard to sleep. Then I get up this morning and go to take my shower but I can not use the downstairs shower (the one I normally use) so I have to use the upstairs shower (the one everyone else in my family uses). I hate using this shower, it has those nasty curtains that hang inside the shower as well as a bunch of hair everywhere. When I actually got in the shower they have like a hundred shampoos up there and I was not sure which one to use. I narrowed it down to two paulmitchell ones but I was not sure whether to use Shampoo One or Shampoo Two, I ultimately decided on Two because in the directions One said to rub your hands together before applying to the hair. This has to be the dullest thing I have ever written.

I woke up 20 minutes after the alarm went off. That was after having awakened an hour before the alarm goes off.

I left for work 20 minutes early in order to try to get in early. It's special elections today. The fate of my job rests in the hands of the voters of the county I work in today. The building I work in is the same building they hold elections in. In a room across the hall from us. On election days we end up sharing the parking lot. I told everyone yesterday to try to come in early today because of loss of parking spaces. Apparently someone heard me, because when I came in, all the parking spaces behind the building I work in, which is where our office is located, all had signs in the grass in front of them that say "VOTER PARKING TODAY ONLY." Shitpissbitchgoddamnfuckingspecialelections. I ended up parking on the side of the building. The problem there is there are six or seven spaces marked for police vehicles only (we're across the street from city police department and down the road from Sheriff's department...and jail!), and two or three spaces designated as 2-hour parking. However, there are three spaces further up that are regular, so I parked there. Was a nice walk around the building though, with it being in the 50s this morning.

Off topic: your sig is from my favourite episode and I just had to tell you because I never see any mention of Spaced, especially from someone who isn't from the UK. D:

On topic: No response from the guy I stupidly dumped regarding maybe giving it another shot. I shouldn't be so upset over it -- I was the one that dumped him, I shouldn't have any right to want to get back together, but still. Ouch.

And it's been rainy and miserable and cold. And there were very loud 12 year olds sitting next to me on the train home from college. ("Oh me yarm I finally figured out my favourite colour! PINK" "Thats my fav too! Oh me yarm LOL") And everyone in my photography class now thinks I'm a suck-up because I've done a photography course before and I have an honours in science. It's not my fault the lecturer thought that was interesting!

Also: I think grammar has abandoned me in my time of need. Apologies.

Argh rant rant rant. Ok I'm done. This is a nice little venting thread. (:

I'm extremely frustrated right now. I'm trying to code something at work and for some reason, my brain has completely quit on me. No matter how much I read the documentation, examples, and bits of code that other people have created, I'm unable to wrap my brain around the concepts. I hate this feeling. Also, I'm nervous about my apartment because they're doing all the background checks and stuff. I know that my rental history is good, as are my employment history and criminal records, but I'm still worried that they'll reject the application for some reason or another. Blah. :(
