Is it penned first and then scanned? how are the boxes made? is it all handdrawn, and if so, with what? pencil, pen, etc?

just wondering what the method is for xkcd ...

xkcd is written by an infinite number of raptors chained to an infinite number of typewriters.

"chained" meaning they type on the typewriters when they feel like it and can move around freely, of course. No chains could hold a finite number of raptors.

Is it penned first and then scanned?

Judging by the just-penned comics that are occasionally randomly around our apartment....

yes.

Yeah, they're drawn/inked by hand, then colored and arranged and processed some and put in frames on the computer. I use Pitt artist pens, which are pretty great for this kind of thing.

We've gone through this before. Soup -> Computer -> Comic.

Or something.

What, "With Love" is not part of the answer?

Whenever I put comics up, I scan them first, then I draw them.

That way, people can't see the imperfections in the finished product.
