I refuse to accept that I have a final exam and writing portfolio due Monday and an even harder final on Tuesday. I just can't focus. I also can't believe that I'm almost halfway through my first year of college.

I refuse to accept that there haven't been hundreds of new posts since I last came to the fora 15 mins ago. Dammit, I'm sick. I've got nothing better to do.

I refuse to accept the 6 degrees of seperation thing.

Although supposedly its closer to 3 at this uni. Especially if you know my ex-flatmates.

I don't know about the truth of it in general, but I recently learned that there's a pretty awesome chain:

Me -> My mother -> Her high school friend -> A close friend of that friend -> Barack Obama

Me -> My Father -> Every Australian PM for the last 30-something years -> A heck of a lot of people

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure he's shaken hands with Kevin Rudd yet, he last mentioned it when Howard was still in...

Anyways... I refuse to believe that the Blue Eyes thread was just bumped yet again. Or that Monty Hall and 0.999... were both brought up here, with the obvious results.

I can't believe that we don't have a moon base yet. What the hell is wrong with people?

...Why don't we have a lunar base? Why?
I wrote it in a style I fondly refer to as "unabashedly fancy" - i.e., "Fuck Zen minimalism, I'm gonna use all of my favorite words and stack loads of complex syntax n' modifying phrases'n'clauses in this motherfucker, goddamn."

Pfft. Maybe you are. I am not. My vision sucks, I've got unnecessary or redundant, possibly life-ending organs in my body (Apendix, anyone?), I require several hours of unconsciousness a day (Sure, I enjoy it, but it's also goddamn weird that I need it) and my body is so crappy at absorbing nutrition, I have to eat a wide variety of plants and animals to make sure I get the nutrients I need to maintain a healthy life.

Oh, and my idiot body gets hungry three or more times a day, despite any excess material I'm carrying around that it should be harvesting for it's own use. Newsflash - when your warehouse is full of raw materials, you don't just keep ordering more. You cut back and wait for it to die down a bit. So why the hell is my body insisting I eat X amount of food when I clearly do not require it?

My body is a poorly designed sack of fluids and meat who's only miracle factor is that it continues to function.

The process that makes my fingers somewhat twitch uncontrollably?* Or the follow up process that has me thinking about orange sherbert one moment, The Queen of England a few moments later, switching back to the job I was trying to do, then drifting out to wonder about what a star would taste like if I were capable of eating plasma and withstanding the heat?

I stand by what I said, and furthermore would like to add that the process of hydrogen becoming helium is far more interesting and mind boggling than my meatsuit functioning.

*Not like, say, Parkinsons or anything that would lead me to believe I have some kind of neurological disorder, just an inability to hold my fingers perfectly still unless I'm actively resting/pressing them against something.

"Stupidity" is a relative term with no intrinsic value. You only say that because we haven't run across anything in the intersection of the Venn diagram "smarter than us", "allows humanity to know it exists", and "wants humanity to stop surviving".

The intersection of the first two hasn't occurred either (much to the chagrin of certain evangelists) so right now we're allowed to keep evolving and popping off gliders until we settle into something stable. I'm hoping for a pulsar.
