@Jesse - way too little of an image no way can we see anything.
@Sleepygamer - I like the brown fleck too
@Eleni - last I heard there are two loci for eye color and neither is all dominant/recessive but a lot more of incomplete dominance. Eye color is just from melanin and so other factors influencing melanin production (skin pigment/hair pigment is all melanin as well) all influence things it seems from what I recall. For example, in blue eyes there is less melanin so it is more disperesed, and in brown eyes there is more and it is denser. The index of refraction for your iris is higher than the surrounding area. Color depends if there is more pigment in the iris stroma or epithelium. The exact colors you see also depend on Rayleigh scattering.

Basically though - you have the brown/blue (B/b) and green/gray (G/g).
bbgg would give the bluest eyes
bbGg blue-green
bbGG green
so on so forth giving hazel shades (hazel usually has G as well), brown shades, etc etc. This is still ultra-basic, I know there is lot more (i.e. violet eyes and the like) but I don't remember what all else at this point.

*disclaimer now - it has been years since I looked at human eye color so my nomenclature could be wrong if that has changed, and most of what I typed here is extrapolating from how it works in rabbits, which since melanin is melanin and the eye is the same in general, it should work, but I'm not guaranteeing it ;)

Wow, that's more than I ever knew about eye color (at least in rabbits). Stroma, epithelium, Rayleigh scattering... very interesting.

Thanks. Now that I examined more carefully my other attempts at eye photography, it looks like there is a darker patches or a ring of darker/different color around the pupil.

Is there some kind of series of dots on the left side of the iris or are they just reflections?

And now a bad pun: is aqueous humour the opposite of dry humour? Or should it be eye bad pun? Wink wink.

Blue eyes are neat. I always thought my eyes were green. When I took that picture with a high resolution camera, I was surprised to find out they were blue with gold in the middle. I always wanted blue eyes but my girlfriend loves green eyes. I call that a win-win.

My eye wins for darkness. If you're with me in person, unless you're looking really closely, generally my eyes just look completely black.
