and so is the poll now. But seriously, this is going too far to be a joke, and quite frankly, at this point I'll be upset if it is a joke. Things are looking good.

There wasn't a single april fool's day joke today, which is weird because I'm really gullible. Fate ought to target me.

Judging by the votes so far (there are more nonsense votes than yes/no votes,) the logical conclusion is: who cares? It is what it is.

If it is, it's a pretty bad one. I mean, a yes/no poll? Where's the prank there? Points for meta, though.

Code: Select all

enum ಠ_ಠ {°□°╰=1, °Д°╰, ಠ益ಠ╰};
void ┻━┻︵╰(ಠ_ಠ ⚠) {exit((int)⚠);}

If it is, a joke then a lot of forumites (and apparently ex-forumites) have proven themselves to be utter douchebags through raegquaat and change-of-power asskissing... On fucking April the fucking first. Note that if this is a joke, I sure as hell wouldn't end it on the 2nd. I'd keep this going at least until the end of the month - the hilarity machine is still building. In this case I'd also like to remind Davean that making the two domains not point to the same DNS servers would be helpful, but a different IP on a different ISP (from the tracert angle, anyway) is definitely a nice touch. I'd also like to thank all of those involved for the excellent piece of social science they conducted by shaking up an internet echochamber.

If it's NOT a joke, then the aforementioned ragequitting douchebags are still idiots. I've been on ships that sank exactly this way before and it was never because of the management's decisions - it was because of the smacktards who couldn't deal with a name change and things generally operating as business-as-usual, drawing attention to themselves and because of the suckup n00bs trying to leverage power in the resultant vacuum distracting from the legitimate content.

Especially since so many people responded by assuming that the litmus test for determining if this is a hoax is whether the site reverts to normal today (tomorrow for those west of EST, as of this posting.)

I feel thoroughly confused about all the goings on about what has happened with the forum being a non-regular. Considering the fact that the announcement was made a minute after midnight it seemed quite reasonable to assume that it may be some elaborate April Fool's prank but now with it being April second the chance that it was some joke has passed.

I really do not want to involve myself with such matters as forum politics or the internet drama that usually ensues so I think I will just stick to reading/posting in interesting topics on the Science and Gaming boards.

You must be a non-regular. Jokes here can go on for months.

This April Fools could concievably stretch over most of the rest of spring.

I hope it last until 11:59PM on March 31 of next year. When davean makes an announcement that it was all a hoax, people will wonder whether it's true or just part of April Fool's 2010.

Of course, given the inestimable deviousness of the ruling crew, it's conceivable that the power-shift is in good faith, and had been planned for some time -- but all parties waited until April 1st to announce it (with a bit of added fluff) just to make everyone wonder. Hmmm?

No, it isn't an April Fools joke and Belial, you should make me a new mod as I will bow down and offer you gold, power and general ass kissing.

I also want a pony

And for some minions to recover my toys now that I've thrown them all out of my cot.

Spoiler:
Or what I actually think.
Which is that it's all a bit of a naff April Fools joke. Having said that I do believe the mods will drag their feet a bit in putting things back.

If it ISN'T a joke then there have been worse things than a name change, we'll be fine. As soon as the stupid people "throwing their toys out of the pram"/"SERIOUSLY asking to be a mod/for a title"/"Crying for no reason already before things have calmed down" have either shut up or gone away.

I don't care much about who's in power - as long as the moderation is decent. I couldn't care less about the domain name. But locking random parts of the forum just sucks.

If it's a joke it's a particularly unfunny one. Annoying people is not the same as playing a joke on them. Shooting your friend in the leg is not an april fools prank.

If it's not a joke, it's a particularly badly thought out move.

For what it's worth, my money is on a serious change that was executed on as a joke just to confuse people. This would be original and funny, I have to admit. But locking parts of the forum still sucks.
