How did you score? Do you think the results were accurate?
If you score on the border of two groups, choose the one you prefer I suppose.

I get smack-dab in the middle of Left: 80/20.
I wish there was a longer version of the same quiz, with more questions.

50/80. It's obviously not designed for all countries. For example, the draft question would get very different answers in a country not threatened by anything and in Israel.

100/40, liberal. But I don't like their style of libertarian; I am pretty sympathetic to libertarian socialism. I am libertarian in the hierarchy hatin sense, whereas most libertarians running around now (like the Libertarian party) are suspicious of the government but heart corporations. What nonsense! 90/20, Liberal, because is was unsure of what a "national ID" card is. Is just official identification stating name, age etc., or is it a card identifying one as a member of a national group (Jewish, Arab etc.)?

100/60 on that one, so somewhere close to the libertarian/left-wing border. Tried the longer one; they pegged me around 5.33 left-wing economy-wise and 7.88 libertarian-wards socially... so, according to their examples at the end, roughly the same spot as the Dalai Lama. One or the other's probably about right. Interesting leftward bias around here, though.

I have to say, I am with doogly about the current definition of libertarianism, though.

The questions seemed deliberately skewed to encourage the "libertarian" answer. That being said, I got liberal with 80/0.

Liberal, 100/30 was the breakdown.
Not really surprising, although on metrics where there's less economic-type questions, I tend to fall much more into the libertarian category. I'm all for government oversight of industry, and not so much into government oversight of people's personal lives. Although I'm for public schools.

...I'm the idiot who thought the quiz at the top of the page was the 'world's smallest political quiz', and selected my option before I bothered to read the first post. I chose the 'authoritarian (statist)' because I don't like one dimensional political continuums. Most of the options fit me in some ways, but none of them reflect my personal view, so I choose the unpopular one.

Also, what the hell is centrist? It's such a pathetic label. What it means to be centrist in the United States is different to being one in Russia, or Britain, or Australia, or China. And it's different again to being one in 1950s US.

This problem applies to all of the terms though, doesn't it? Liberal means a very different thing here than in the U.S., as does conservative. None of labels mean anything, as what one person would call a liberal another may call a socialist, and vice versa.

The point of the quiz (aside from raising awareness of libertarianism) is to highlight the problems of the one-dimensional left-right scale. I suppose you didn't look at the quiz after reading the first post either.

It put me as a libertarian but I know for a fact I'm extremely central. If there is such thing as an extreme middle.

Edit: the second test Naurgal posted fit me much better...
Edit 2: I just remembered taking a test like this in 9th grade and I was extremely ashamed of having gotten 100% liberal. Hmm.

Left, but uncomfortably close to Libertarian. Is there any unbiased version of this kinda test?

Also, my views aren't even on this silly little 2-axis chart.

Not one conservative (so far)?

I'm not too surprised by my results—80/10—though I would consider myself more of a 100/0. The 80 for personal is because I said maybe to a draft (in the incredibly unlikely event that we ever have another full-scale WWII type engagement, a draft would obviously be necessary) and maybe to a national ID (because I don't think it's a huge invasion of my privacy for the government to have my retinal scan or whatever on file.)

The 10 in economic issues is because I said maybe to the first one ("end 'corporate welfare'".) I think the issue is basically that I'm not opposed to government subsidies and such in principal, but the way they've been carried out in recent years has been pretty deplorable.

libertarian 80/60

Not only are the questions skewed but vague as well, cut 50% of government spending? where from? police? tax office? NHS/general welfare?

On the test naurgul posted I scored just slightly more anarchic than ghandi.

But of course these tests can never show youre true view.

Do I believe that there should be a military draft? No

Do I believe that all children who quit education at 16-21 should be required to go through a bad lads army style course for 6 months to a year? abso-frakkin-lutely, but they never touch a gun and cant be sent anywhere beyond what the training requires.

There weren't any options for 'these questions are inane', so I didn't bother. But seriously, I just would've put 'maybe' for them all and come up as pure centrist, which is not me at all. I mean 'End "corporate welfare." No government handouts to business' is obviously an imbalanced question that invokes a lot of current, heated debate. It's a little bit like a question going 'Don't you think anti-gay lobbies are all Nazis?'

Actually...

But yeah, there were some issues. I guess the term "pathological science" doesn't apply, perhaps "pathological statistics"? Basically, they want libertarianism to be more popular, and the easiest way to do that isn't to convince people to become libertarians, it's to convince them that they already are.

EDIT: Took the long one; it still has some (possibly unavoidable) problems, such as this question: "A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system." It's a factual statement, but the trick is that what they really want is moreso your reaction to the statement. (To be fair, it isn't really a problem with the test, it's just that anyone who wasn't paying close attention might get an inaccurate score.) Anyways, I'm at -4.62/-2.62, wedged firmly between Gandhi and Mandela.
