Initially I saw ixtellor's sig and thought the "1) Babies are illogical" was the first reason. It took me a minute to figure out that probably wasn't his argument.

One of the best reasons for procrastination is that a lot of problems resolve themselves without a lot of effort.

There is a book titled "The law of delay" that explains the phenomenon in detail. Wikipedia claims it is written by C. Northcote Parkinson.

For example, my city got about 3-6 inches of snow in the past 24 hours. No shoveling was/is required because it will melt within the next 24 hours.
Did you get the number on that truck?

I'm using a very similar strategy to deal with an upcoming paper deadline.

I read the title as "Top 10 Reasons to Procreate."
That is, after having visted the threat before.

Hey, I am procrastinating now!

I took that philosophy once and it really fucked up everything.
Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean.

You have to use your judgement.

One of the examples in the book is a drowning man. It is obviously not a good idea to let somebody drown just because they won't need saving anymore.

The thing is it works the other way as well: sometimes if you are too eager to do something, you end up wasting time undoing your work later.

To use another example: If you are working on something do you put all the tools back as you work, or simply wait until you are finished?

Edit: typo; and I've never been able to master floating.

Procrastinate now. You won't have time later.

That makes two of us. Infact this notion of an idea seems to rule my entire life, or at least an alarmingly big portion of it

Work is God's punishment for failing to procrastinate properly.
