Meatspace friends.

The use of the word "real" is both insulting to the online friendships people have, and to the people themselves as apparently they only exist if they've been met.

Meatspace friends avoids this problem while allowing you to say Meatspace and be completely serious.

Is there a term for that that isn't silly internet slang or "non-internet friends"?

Just designate that you're talking about IRL beforehand.

TOP TIP: if you use "meatspace" to mean meatspace in meatspace, it will stop sounding like silly internet slang.

There is no real alt to the utter brilliance and stagant horror that is /b/. I don't lurk on it, I let the funny stuff filter through friends usually. Otherwise I really dont care much for it. IRC seems the best way to go for keeping up on memes.

Any good channels? I haven't tried many, but I haven't found anything besides #nethack that isn't deathly quiet.

I can't use "real world" to describe non-virtual contexts? Would a hyphen have helped?
