The proper response would have been "Clean your act up, and don't be a slob"

I went through something similar senior year of high school, by which I mean the exact opposite. I cut my hair and gave it to locks of love and even complete strangers were asking me why I cut my hair. My typical response being, "Actually, I had someone else cut it for me."

I've started just denying it. "You've had a hair cut!" 'No I haven't' "Really? It looks sharp". Either that or claim I got caught in acid rain.

ISHTST, but please don't insult me and make fun of my "decision" to work at Wal-Mart. First, because it's a pretty assholish thing to do, but most because it wasn't a choice. I need a job to do such trivial things as live and eat and Wal-Mart was the only place that would even call me back. And don't sit around telling me horror stories about how the management is going to screw me over about everything, it's all going well so far and if it does go to hell in the future at least give me my few months of bliss.

Relatedly, ISHTST, but dude, it's not exactly my fault that I got hired full time and you're still working part time. Maybe they don't know you can work full time and don't have a tight schedule. Maybe they thought I was a better candidate. Maybe you're just kind of an asshole. I don't know, but the least you could do is stop making such a big, bitter deal out of it.

I never really got why people insult others because of the job that they have. Then again, the kind of people who would do that probably don't have the capacity to consider what would happen if there weren't people who had jobs that they would see as "Undesirable".

What's it like to work in a place like that, anyway? I mean, in a retail store like that. As a student, it's about the only place where I can expect to get a part-time job (eventually, been trying for many moons now)

I once applied for a summer job in Walmart (ASDA actually, but same diff). They turned me down. I was mocked mercilessly when I told my mates that.

I worked at Wal-Mart for a couple years in college. I worked in the dairy department, so it was actually pretty cool. I rarely had to deal with customers. Just had to keep milk/eggs/cheese/etc stocked. And most of the time, we just hung out in the dairy cooler. All in all, it really wasn't bad.

Well, I just finished my second day so I don't really have much experience, but it's better than I expected (I expected it to be absolutely terrible). I'm not exactly stocking, which seems to be what most of the people do, at least overnight when I work. You're on your feet the whole time, but you get pretty good breaks every 2 hours. It's tiring work and you move around a lot, and often will be bent over at weird angles or down on your knees on the hard floor, but it's not actually that bad. I'm a lazy slob with very little fitness and a normal sleep schedule who immediately went in to a rather active night shift and I haven't had much trouble adjusting.

Zoning (moving product to the front of the shelf) though, is a massive pain in the ass. I couldn't move 4 feet down the aisle without knocking something over, and when I went on a 15 minute break, when I came back customers had come through and dicked everything up, costing me about 5 minutes of work.

tl;dr: Not as bad as the horror stories would have you believe, at least 2 days in. For all I know my tune might change significantly in the next month or so, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I've worked in retail, and they weren't exactly the greatest jobs. Not the worst, but down there somewhere.

That said, anyone who insults you for having a retail job is just an idiot. Perhaps they'd appreciate you more if they realize that it's quite hard to buy something from Wal-Mart when there's little on the shelves, what's on the shelves is disorganized, and there's no cashiers to check you out.

This. About some jobs I'm really glad I don't have to do them. But that doesn't really make one a better person.

I hate working in retail. By the time I graduate and (hopefully) get a better job in June, I will have worked at JCPenney for three years. Other than some co-worker friends I've made, it sucks almost all of the time. That being said, I wouldn't judge someone for working retail, especially if they're a student, or it's the only job they could find. Even if they just chose to work retail because they want to. More power to them if they enjoy it. I just personally hate it myself.

Reminds me of a birthday present I got for my dad. It was a cream to rub on your head, so you would get more hair. Only it worked by shrinking your head, so it looks like you have more hair!

Roger Klotz had three lackies: a pale white kid with a brown, fro-like haircut and what I believe is a monocle; an orange-tan kid with spiky green hair; and an brown/olive-green kid with spiky purple hair. He also had a fuchsia-colored cat.
