.... Although this may be necessary for some names, did we really need a thread for this? But hey, I am posting in here so;

Nin.
Ja.
Ar.
Ca.
Na.

Nin, not nine.
Ja, like the God-figure Jah.
Ar, like are.
Ca, like in can.
Na, which sounds like nah, but is softer on the ears.

Well, the point of the contest was for someone to get it without actually being able to read Japanese. From pure fandom, if you will! However, your non-babelfish translation is indeed accurate, for which you win my envy as a student of Japanese. (I couldn't manage that without copious amounts of kanji-dictionary-ing)

I got you dawg that's pretty funny

There was one message board member (elsewhere) who one day suddenly "got" my username, and had been assuming it was something Japanesa (a la baka-master) for months, despite my often talking about cakes.

I pronounce mine as Cahb-ahn, though I'm about 99% certain that this is incorrect. This is primarily due to the fact that the name is Gaelic, and the Gaelic languages are known for having somewhat randomly-assigned Roman letters to various sounds. ("Sidhe" is pronounced "She", "Cúchulainn" is pronounced "Coo-hoolin" apparently (I always pronounced it "Coo-collin"), etc.).

I pronounce my username as "Fabio".

Fabio. 8)

j/k. PythonNewb: I like how it rolls together in my mind, with no pause (no space). There's an emphasis on the first syllable; I'm not sure why.

EDIT: The x, of course, is silent.

BLANKET?!?!?! (that's actually pretty amusing) I some times seriously consider starting a new account just so I can be called 'Kit', that's my real name, its pronounced kit - just like my username, it's simple and I like (K)it.

riuir - "riwwer"

See, I thought it was a pun. Great. Now that I know it's really just "Kit" it's going to take me forever to override that mental voice that goes "blanket" everytime I see your name...

I'm no good with IPA, and am probably reading this wrong, and actually wrote it wrong above (I think), but polly rhymes with holy. Is that what poʊ.laɪ. sounds like?

Ah, I see what you meant. Then we're probably looking at something like /poʊ.liɪ.woʊʒ/ or, if you don't mean for it be longer than the last vowel in "holy," then /poʊ.li.woʊʒ/.
