Awesome: I just got cookies from a little old lady who I helped the other day. She came back for a follow up and brought me five cookies she had made.

Less awesome: I can't eat them.

Because of hospital rules. It sucks, but the area I work in is considered bad juju for food. When they came in, they were possibly contaminated by the area. I didn't tell her as much, because she was being nice. I appreciate the gesture, more than the cookies.

Ok, tearing myself away from an epic Questionable Content archive binge to leave some awesomes here . . .

I went on a road trip recently! And it was great! I saw a bunch of old friends from school, I got to walk around and explore a city (Louisville, KY) I had never been to previously, I saw some great live music, and - here's the kicker - I met a female-type person who I'm totally digging. It was definitely one of the best weeks I've had in a while.

Also awesome: Questionable Content. Damn, I can't stop reading this comic for some reason. I'm addicted.

oh dang, Making Stuff. is pretty awesome. I have skills that allow me to create things that did not exist before I decided they should. I can turn yarn into fabric, and 2 and 3 dimensional shapes (which is really interesting to think about too, mathematically and geometrically) with crocheting and knitting. I can think of pictures to make, and I have art supplies to make them with. I can Even animate those pictures with computer programs I have. That stuff is Epically Awesome if you think about it in context with the progress of communication. Animation is a pretty wild idea, and it doesn't even take tons of money, and lots of people anymore.

That reminds me of the two demi-johns of cider I have in the ironing cupboard at home. Does anybody know if that stuff is still safe to be bottled and drunk, since it has been fermenting since the summer of 2008?

I would guess not. It needs to be racked off and put in bottles for a secondary fermentation only a few weeks after you set it off. I forget how many, but two years is overkill. It's probably gone nasty in some way.

Just now I beat Sagat on Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. The best thing is, it was totally on my emulator on my laptop and I still haven't found out how to hadouken properly due to probably both my rubbishness and the rubbishness of the controls that I'm working with. Yay!

Awww yeah. Finally got that little bastard of a wire secured.

Info: Few months ago I bought a 1980 CM400E motorcycle, 400cc. Tis awsome but I am finding continually that anything that can break/bend/pop off/generally go wrong has, and been repaired improperly. Luckily the engine runs fine, thank god. But regarding the wire I talked about... About a month into my ownership ALL my electrical systems died suddenly while driving. Fun fact:The engine will keep running. Just not lights/horn/engine start. Traced it back to a solderd wire that had decided to pop off. Damm thing just would not be re-soldered. Poped off 2 more times. Gragh.
Finally very very carefully drilled a hole and screwed the wire on.

Walla, it works. If it somehow pops off again you shall see me in the rant thread.

Also, My bike is awesome.

So my laptop's screen cracked last week ago, and I went to a store to try and get it repaired. The cost of fixing it was about $240, so instead I just ordered a new screen online for $125 and did it myself.

I spent a good chunk of one day wandering up and down Bardstown Road, checking out local shops and businesses; dropped a pile of money at Ear X-Tacy; checked out Guitar Emporium; sampled local coffee shops and sushi bars; and just took in the scenery. I also went around with the friend of mine whom I was staying with, and we visited that giant Halloween-themed party store (I can't for the life of me remember what it was called), saw the standard tourist-y attractions (Churchill Downs, downtown parks and stuff), and hit up a couple cool bars - Proof (which was massively expensive but pretty classy with its connection to the art gallery and everything) and Monkey Wrench (which was fun but decidedly less highbrow). I also went to Club Oasis one night to see one of my favorite bands (Karnivool) play. Louisville is pretty badass - I'd love to visit again.

Oh, and more awesomes: the aforementioned female-type person and I are now an official couple. A long-distance one, but still. Having a girlfriend is pretty damn awesome.

Heh. That's pretty awesome.

Speaking of homecomings... my high school's is next saturday. It's our senior year. Instead of wasting money on bad music and bad dancing, five of us are instead staying at my house all evening for a Flan party in formal attire. There will be Firefly. And Dr. Horrible. And, of course, actual flan.
