I just discovered that I can use scraps of materials I already have to complete a small project instead of spending $13+ on a lot of materials that I don't have the space for right now. Now I don't have to brave the mall crowds to get it.

That's awesome. I assume you didn't get any recognition, but still...

You could certainly send them another email asking for some sort of recognition.

Looking at it, the time and quarter indicators have completely different formats ;)

I'll give you the quarter indicator (and the team fouls, which you failed to spot), but how is the time different? Are you seriously counting the extra digit after the decimal point?

More importantly, what does it even matter?

Looks to me like it does show the team fouls bit. [edit: and yes, I was counting the extra zero. Two decimal places is a big difference to one decimal place! of course, everything about it being different is a joke]

Of course it matters. Every time you see that, YOU know that YOU designed it. Fuck everyone else. That's cool.

The real thing displays TEAM FOULS 0 - 0 TEAM FOULS, not TEAM FOULS: 0 - TEAM FOULS: 0.

If that's not different enough, I'm not sure what you're picking up on with the clock and quarter indicator.

I'm not sure how the fact that I designed it means the differences between my design and the real thing matter.

Ah, it's all a bit blurry for me.

If you check my edit, they don't matter. I was joking about the arena shirking the thought of giving you credit. They can claim it wasn't your idea, because it's different - right? Again, I am joking.

As I understand it it's all the club's responsibility, not the arena's.

Do I seem to you like I'm in the mood for jokes?

Yeah, this thread is for talking about what you think is awesome. Unless you think it's awesome that they didn't credit you, it's off-topic to this thread.

Got my terminal server (Shiva Lanrover) running, moved a few devices over to it (simplifying the cabling in the process) and modified the scripts that access those devices. Still have to connect some server console ports, but the situation is already improved.

I never really thought there has to be a specific problem to start engineering. One can just build something awesome for the joy of it.

Except that engineering isn't about building. Engineering is about solving problems. Problems like "I want to make a thing that does X within constraints Y and Z." If you're just building without purpose, it's probably not engineering.

Today was a pretty good day. Met with a friend at a local cafe that I'd walked by a million times but never gone into. Had awesome hot chocolate (they essentially blend a candy bar of your choice into it). Bought an xmas gift I'd been meaning to buy. Discovered an old style sweet shop that I'd never noticed before. Went back to mine with the friend and watched Smokin' Aces, went and got a pizza, then watched Snatch. Walked the friend to a bus stop and my housemate happened to be walking back home at the same time her bus got there. At some point after we got back we wound up talking about Things that I'd been meaning to bring up for a while, with the end result that it all got worked out well.

This most recent series of The Simpsons is so much better than the previous two that it's like travelling back in time. Perhaps it's significant that Matt Groening has gone back to being executive producer for some episodes, rather than creative consultant.

Congrats man! I find making the mortgage payment easier (mental wise) then making rent payments. Each payment makes the place a little more yours and a little less the bank's, instead of just continuing to be your landlord's.

Gratz. :D

I just got a B- in a class (EM Waves) I was almost sure I was going to do poorly in (because the Prof makes his tests too damn long). Not having to take his class again is definitely awesome.
