thanks for the congrats, but it is premature. Do the maths ;-)

Yep, and my first post (which was probably against the rules by being before the actual intro one) was a response to sheepster's intro, thus is legitimately a separate post. :D

Hi, Adam here. Long-time reader and lurker, new poster.

What can I say? It's tough when I'm not prompted... Well, I'm a grad student, I like some things and some other stuff, but not all of it. Some stuff is bad. I am interested in things I find interesting, not so much in those I don't. But you never know.

Aren't introductory posts fun?!

Ahh, seems I too fell for the old posting before coming here trick... Didn't realise it was a post here or perish job.

Well hey, I should be going off to uni next year to study maths in the UK someplace, found xkcd, and hence have spent most of the week flicking through the comics over and over...

Forum looks cool, so thought I might aswell join up. :)

Hello! My name is Sarah, and I am going into my second year (of many) at McGill. Things I get huge kicks out of include:

- Knitting non-orientable manifolds
- Belonging to three different faculties (Arts, Science, Engineering)
- When strangers recognize that the old man with glasses on my t-shirt is, in fact, Kurt Godel, and we share a moment
- Finding notebooks from when I was twelve that have designs for perpetual motion machines in them
- xkcd!

Pleased to make yr acquaintances.

Ok proper post now as I promised!

I'm Alex, lucky enough to be a game coder (although currently in the middle of the industry's infamous "crunch time"). I love this comic for the same reason as everyone else probably, because it shows how life as a geek tends to be (contrary to popular belief) full of fun, romance and humour.

I'm 22 and I'm an idealistic hippie trying my best to be a good boy. Not sure what kind of thing I should write about myself in an intro post but just to show that I've passed the rites of geekhood, my hobbies are:

- Playing games
- Coding games
- DnD
- Reading webcomics
- Roleplaying as a kitten with my boyfriend Bunny :3
- Overusing smileys
- Living in England while at the same time not liking alcohol or football

I'm also a big girl but that's a long story :p

Hi everyone. I was introduced to xkcd a while ago and have just started reading the forums (or is it fora? or both?). I'm 18, male, currently studying Mechatronics at Auckland Uni.

I don't really have anything interesting to say, but the mods seem to get angry at people who don't post here (please don't smite me!) so i'm off to write the post I registered here to write.

My name's Ben; zomgmouse comes from a 'cartoon' character I developed, intending to make a comic/flash out of it. Turns out there are only so many hours in a day, and sleep deprivation won't work.

I go to a school in Melbourne, and am proud to say the best school in Melbourne.
Yes, Australia does exist.

I play the violin, piano and tennis, like reading, writing(ish), watching movies and playing XBOX.
I am also extremely pedantic when it comes to grammar.

Hello.

Although I have to wonder what you mean by the "best" school in melbourne. I cant think of any way to rank them at all actually...

Well, Since you guys seem to be deadly serious about the "Thou shalt post here first" dictate here it is.

Registering since after about a month of coming here and just checking out the comic I wandered into these forums and saw the Meet-up which turns out to be walking distance from my place. Seemed like reason enough whether I go or not.

For myself I'm 29 and working as a hardware engineer/Verilog code monkey. So....... Hi!.

I'm Dave Smith-Hayes. I'm like every other 16 year old self-proclaimed trendster and blog. I listen to music, and play the odd video game. I live in the middle of no where, in northern Ontario (Canada), where they still don't even have DSL. So I'm on Dial Up. That's about it.
