YouTube page of the Lady Gaga song I got stuck in my head, LiveJournal friends list, Twitter (default aggregate reading page) and someone's specific Twitter page.

Oh, and the Restore Session page that has an unreasonable number of things on it that I could re-open. I think for the time being they should just stay there, in potentia. It's too much to unleash right now.

4x another forum
6x xkcd forum
1x gmail
1x local newspaper

Which isn't particularly much. I usually have at least four times more. But I just woke up, and thus haven't quite gotten started yet.

This and BBC News. They're pretty much the two permanent fixtures in my browser. Normally it's 4-5 tabs, more if I'm going through a website and opening all the interesting-looking links in new tabs.

It's generally the xkcd email reply notifications that spawn my tab-fests. I have 1 gmail tab open and 47 xkcd forum tabs open (each different copies of maybe 5 or 6 threads).

Just this page. I tend to limit it to one thing at a time. I browse it, get all of the content, and move on. I don't like to clutter things up to much. That and my laptop is slow.

I haven't visited TVTropes since the last time I cleaned out my tabs, so that's part of the reason.

Until about a week ago, I had about 180ish tabs opening every time I started Firefox. Some of which had been there since about October. But I'd convinced myself that I'd get round to going through them all eventually, honest...

But clearly that was never going to happen. If I didn't do something about it, those tabs would just stick around forever, clogging up my Firefox startup time. So last week I installed the Firefox "Read it later" extension. I've now got about 90ish tabs open - plus 106 in my "to read" list that I'll get round to going through eventually, honest...

That's progress!

I have a question. How long did your browser take to become responsive with 180 tabs? I mean, even chrome doesn't handle 20+ or so tabs very gracefully (though, admittedly better than firefox) if you open them all at once.

When I read this, I thought, man you need Read It Later. :D

I love it for keeping my place in comic archives that I'm working through. And I really like the effect when you right click on a link and mark the location for Read Later and the little chevron pops up and fades. It's a really useful tool.

Currently, just Facebook and a couple forum pages.

I try to keep my tabs down, or else I move to eclectically between them. Links I plan to read at some point get put in a folder on my bookmark bar, rather than kept opened. I don't keep open gmail unless I am currently writing an email, and I don't keep open Google reader unless I am skimming through articles. Both of them have a chrome extension that shows how much unread stuff I have.
