I suspect he was implying that you're very beautiful, and has the same problem that most guys have - not understanding how a beautiful lady doesn't realize that herself. Or that everyone needs a compliment / confidence boost once in a while.

Regardless - Keep smiling.

PS - I love the lack of negatives on this thread... makes me happy.

I'm pretty sure that ST's point is not altered by whether you tell someone they should be happy or they should smile.

What you don't know is that a lot of women get people telling them to "smile" and funny enough men don't really, and it annoys many people that men tell women to be a way they think they should be rather than what they feel like.

This may not be how you meant it but it is how it is perceived.

Sorry if I've put words in anyone's mouth or gotten it horribly wrong.

I've heard through friends of friends that I am less approachable from my internet photos since I don't smile enough. I don't get this because I feel like I am usually smiling... braces suck. And sometimes concentrating on taking a photo at arm's length gets in the way too.
In person though I am usually really smiley even if I am not happy...

I think you're all looking way to deep into this. I wasn't telling her she needed to smile or look happy... but that she could be happy (note - if she chooses...) because someguy was saying 'why do you need a confidence boost? you're beautiful'

Moo/ST - I see your point in regards to her doing / looking / acting however she wants, but last I heard telling someone "that was a compliment, you can be happy" isn't offensive, or asking her to change. It was just a compliment, explaining someone elses (perceived) compliment. Sorry for any confusion.

Personally I'm told I look angry a lot (because I don't usually smile unless i'm laughing or posing for a photo (kind of just feels fake to me)) and I hate it when people ask me what's wrong or tell me to smile more, so I totally get what you're saying, just not what I meant by it.

Not inside out, so much as backwards. The knitted side looks as good as the patterned, I guess you could say.
They were given to my father at his job. He passed them on to me, as they're more my style. I haven't really had the guts to wear 'em together yet, it might be a little overpowering. Unless I'm going to an outdoor winter ska festival.
