I have 2 pairs of boots. One pair are 5.11 Storms, which were my LEO duty boots. Good solid boots that would stand up to a lot of nasty weather, plus they were side-zipped so they were easy to take off at the end of the day:

The other pair are my wildfire/hiking boots. A pair of Nicks Hot Shot Lace-to-toe fire boots. Best damn thing I've ever worn on my feet. Great ankle support, amazing arch support, warm yet breathable, waterproof, and sturdy as all hell. Cost me $450, but WELL worth it:

The black ones I have are Frye; the red ones are Toms (specifically the Vegan Wrap Boots).

Nowhere in Birmingham has smooth purple 1460 Doctor Martens in size 9, so instead I shall be coming home today with a pair of these!

This is as close to a shoes thread as we have. Friend just posted these on his wall:

Zohar, you have caused my brain to implode and I haven't even eaten breakfast yet. (Those look like they'd be completely uncomfortable, but it just might be worth watching innocent passers-by do double-takes.)

Bought a pair of Asolos this past summer for a job involving a fair bit of backpacking. I looked around for Asolos in local stores but couldn't find any and had to buy the size "blind" online, but it worked out very well. They fit perfectly with a thin sock liner and a thick hiking sock, and almost as well with just one regular sock; they're comfortable enough and breathable enough to wear when I'm not hiking, and they're wearing really well. I purchased them based partially on reputation and partially on a really good deal from Sierra Trading Post; would definitely buy again. The traction probably isn't absolutely top-notch but it's very good, saved me from at least one dangerous spill in a slick, rocky drainage this summer.

All of my searching back in the fall was neatly resolved, when I found myself these:
http://www.catfootwear.com/intl/en-US/Product.mvc.aspx/WC-R/19596W/0/Womens/Portia.

Tall enough, waterproof, leather, annnnd they fit my enormous calves verrry nicely. If I wanted to, I could even fit my pants under them! If I was wearing skinny jeans or something, not hand-me-down cords whose bottoms I need to roll up since I'm short.

Those last two pairs are both awesome, but I must say the military's are exceptionally beautiful.
