Half of my present is done, and I'm going downtown tomorrow to buy the other half. Then it's off to the Sip & Ship to buy a hot chocolate and send a package to [REDACTED].

Work is kicking my ass all over the shop, so I haven't got anywhere near as much crafting time as I originally planned to have. I'm hoping to be able to ship this weekend and hope the snow won't slow it down too much *crosses fingers* *crafts manically*

Looking like mine will be shipped out early next week. I'll just send it using something faster than the standard whatever and it should still get there in plenty of time.

Sending mine out by monday at the latest (and more probably by Friday or Saturday). Finishing NaNoWriMo ate up most of my time recently, so I need a few days to finish getting things together.

I will also be shipping some time next week, if things arrive in time.

Could we maybe agree to get an earlier start next year? A single week between secret santa assignment and the recommended shipping date is really short, particularly for the craftsy people.

Oh certainly! The three of us hadn't thought of it until we all PM'd each other, and started it as soon as we could. Next year I certainly hope anyone who wants to start it (us again?) does it earlier.

I've been asked to head into Kyiv for a meeting on Monday, won't be back home until Wednesday. So depending on how the craftiness goes, earliest I'll be able to send a package out is Weds./Thurs.
Hopefully the craftiness will go quickly (i.e., I'll get things right the first time and not have to rip out and re-do things) and I'll have a package on it's way by next Friday.

So, I finally got myself out of bed again. I PMed this to Cathy already, but I thought I'd also announce it here. To break the story for my secret santa subject:

I've been quite ill(and still am, pretty bad Glandular Fever) the last couple of days and all I was able to do was lay in bed, have a sore throat and feel miserable. I assume Cathy has arranged a Super Santa, but seeing as I did not receive a PM in return, I'm unsure.

For those who'd like to know it(IT COULD BE YOU, if you don't want to spoil it, don't click), my secret santa subject is:
Spoiler:
Daojia. Yes, I had you last year too :P

I hope I'm still getting a present myself. If this is the case, and I DO get present, I'll make a small gift for aforementioned person as soon as I'm feeling relatively healthy again.

Thanks for your understanding.

I was going to say "let's get this show on the road", but I've been heavily ninja'd, it would seem.

As per last year, my recipient will be receiving snail mail formatted as email. Pic:
Spoiler:

It's going gone by standard UK-domestic (which narrows down the list of possible recipients, if you're looking to guess), so it'll be at its destination sometime next week.

I think we should also toggle the deadlines, depending on where our targets live, and where we live. For example, if you're assigned someone who lives in the UK, and you yourself live in the UK, it shouldn't take more than a week for them to receive their gift. Two weeks at max. Same thing with the U.S. I know I've ordered stuff from Amazon to be sent to my house or work, and it's usually taken about a week to arrive.

If, however, your target is in the UK, and you're in the U.S., then it would seem fitting to tell them to ship by late November/early December. Same thing would go for someone in Canuckistan asked to ship to someone Down Under. I would advise everyone to check with your shipper of choice for advice on when to ship, and also get a price. Some of us can't afford to ship International, especially at the drop of a hat (ship by tomorrow). In the U.S., the USPS (United States Postal Service) and all shipping companies advise that you get your packages out between the 10th and the 15th of December, to ensure a delivery on or before Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but that's if you're shipping Domestic (within the same country).

Also, I think one piece of information we should provide (I know a lot of people are a bit touchy on this) is our phone number, or the phone number of the address we want our stuff shipped to. Whether you're shipping via UPS, Fed-Ex, or having a gift shipped via Amazon or other online retailers, you have to provide a phone number connected to the address you are shipping to. They all require this information so that if there are any problems in delivering said package, they can call the recipient and get directions.

Otherwise we would have to provide our own phone numbers. Hopefully no one will have to call for directions or information ("It's the third house on the left. It's blue."). Fuck if any of us know what their house looks like, or how the streets are laid out over there.

We ship a lot of stuff via Fed-Ex at work, and the website won't let you go any farther than the first page when it comes to shipping, unless you have a phone number.

Since most people don't seem to need it, I would suggest handling this on a case by case basis: If your shipping service requires a phone number, PM the organizers, who will relay the question to your santee. That way, both secrecy and privacy would be preserved.

Also, my package arrived. Since I won't be in the same state as it until the 15th of the month, you'll have to wait til then for pictures :)

Just got back from finally posting my parcel, no pics since I live under a rock and don't have a camera but I have a receipt if there's any problems. The guy assured me it'll arrive before Christmas so no worries hopefully. To the recipient, sorry for taking so long and also for my terrible hand writing.

Got my parcel, cheeeerrrss Two9A. I didn't have that CD actually, I don't normally like them but this CD is actually really good. Yay for broadening horizons \o/.

Also I didn't realise how cheap it was to send parcels (Yes, this is the first parcel I've ever posted :o) I'll have to send out random crap more often!

Will be posting my gift tomorrow. Should still get there in time. I was tricked by my local post office! (They close half an hour earlier than I thought they did, and I'm a dolt who didn't finish getting everything together until the last minute. Whoops.) I'll edit this post with some pictures of the box when I send it out.
There's a method to my madness. Somewhere. Don't worry, I'll find it!

Shipped mine today. Forgot to take a picture, but I have receipts and things if needed.

Just got it out now. Shipping was killer... There was a big line at the office, so they wouldn't let me write a note on the post card that they still made me buy, nor would they let me use proper tape to fix my packaging nor actually include said postcard (seriously, the guy was a dick about it), so I apologize for the general shoddiness of the presentation. My bad. Pm me when you get it and I'll send you the heartfelt letter I was intending to write over the internet.

EDIT: And I forgot to take a picture. Sigh... Also for spelling.

Gift is finally finished and mailed, but it might not arrive in time. The guy at the counter told me there was no faster premium service for parcels and by the time I had gone home, printed out the website that says that 'yes there is' and he had checked back with someone who has a clue, it was already on the way to the processing centre.

I blame myself for not immediately insisting that he should ask. After all, the last time I picked up a shipment of rings, I had to tell him that maybe he should collect the customs fee for it.

I also blame the Post for replacing their post offices with "post agencies", aka "some local shop that has enough room and agrees to handle mail". For some inexplicable reason, these people know a lot less about stuff than actual post office staff.

I guess I should have just paid the postage online, but I didn't feel like figuring out how to attach the printed-out "stamps" to the parcel.

To minimize disappointment, I will use the money I saved on postage to buy a small place-holder gift at my santee's local Amazon.
Pictures of parcel and receipt are also available.
