Like I said, I wanted to, but the people at my tiny-town post office are anal-retentive about parcels and shipping. I've had them refuse to send something before that was overly decorated so I didn't want to take any chances.

Gift sent, I have pictures, and possibly the receipt for the gift item.

Your package came in the mail today Wolf. Many thanks! Tea and socks are incredible, and finally someone gives me a book that'll take more than a few days to read. Also, scifi magazines are my favorite, and you picked the one that I'm not already subscribed to. Thanks!

Sweet! I'm glad it got there on time, and that you liked it! I was so worried I'd end up picking up books you had already read or a magazine you already subscribed to. Have fun with the gifts! :D

Woo! My present arrived today! Collage time:
Spoiler:
XKCD secret santa 2010.png

Fucking awesome! Thank you anon, I fucking love Rodriguez and ha ve been meaning to see Predators for ages. Your card was also very lovely and a really nice touch. Lots of loves and hugs!

Anyohow, I have been majourly fail and not delivered my present yet due to a few personal problems which, combined with my workload, meant I rarely left my house over the past few weeks, but I have bought the present (about two weeks ago) and my workload will be reduced to zero as of midnight tonight, so I can go to town and get it sent off tomorrow. Also,
Spoiler:
my present recive-ie (right word? Meh?) lives in the UK too, so I can get next-day delivery up in that bitch. I'm not sure wether or not that includes weekends but it should mean it'll get there before Monday evening.
So it should definitely be there before Christmas.

EDIT: Pedantic, I know, but my name is spelt a la Français, courtest of my French mother, so no "h". But awesome all the same and still many, many hugs and love!

Excellence: my shipping has been accomplished, and the post office tells me that the recipient[s] will receive by Christmas.

Also, I have reached my parents' place and found this:
Image

It seems to contain... smaller boxes. O.o
Image

Well, they're certainly handsome boxes.
Image

Avast! The larger one has something within!
Image

The smaller one similarly yields its secrets to me.
Image

What ho! The box within a wrapping within a box has contents of its own! Will the layers never end?
Image

Defeated, the boxes and their contents do my bidding at last.
Image

Many thanks to my anonymous American benefactor :) Earl Grey and chocolate cookies are a marvelous combination, and are greatly appreciated.

:D did you see the little notes on the inside of the wrapping paper? If not, I went that route as soon as I saw you liked earl gray tea. My grandpa is a huge Earl Gray fan and he says the *only* tea worth drinking is Twining's Earl Gray hence I always have to have it for him when he visits. Usually I make him my homemade snickerdoodles too (he LOVES them especially with his tea) but I wasn't sure how someone would feel about homemade cookies from the Internet hence going with the cookie box instead. :)

Same here. Mine was a rush decision based on a quick glance at their questionnaire, and the fact the assignment note said "Ship by December 1" and it was November 30. Of course I tracked the living daylights out of the package, and found out it was delivered about a week ago, yet no post here as to whether it has been received.

Note to organizer(s): Next year I'd prefer someone here in the States, so that I'll have more time to pick out their gift, or make their gift, as well as ship it out.

We did put an option in the post to say in a PM that you'd like to ship within your country - (almost) everyone who requested that had it work out :)

It's all good, Sokh! I keep checking my mail for packages -- the apartment managers think I'm going crazy. On average I usually check my mail every 2 weeks, but for the past few days I've checked it every single day. <3 I love waiting for packages.

Ooooh! A package!

S6300012.JPG
A desk calendar and a postcard!

The postcard explained that this was just the first half of my gift; the second half might not arrive till after christmas. I'll be on vacation until the 27th anyway, plus I don't much care when it arrives, so that's perfectly okay with me.

Thanks, blue_eyedspacemonkey! Looks likes it'll be very amusing.

Hey look, I got a package...
Spoiler:
Image

Greta is inquisitive. Let's see what's inside...

Image

A handwritten letter? I haven't gotten one of these in years. ._. Thanks, Raeluna!

There was also a crapload of tea: Earl Grey, English Blend, and then a bunch of random flavors. I guess now I can find out which kinds of tea I like.

Image

The next gift was a little unexpected: a calligraphy set, complete with inkstone, two brushes, and a book of instructions. :) Maybe now my handwriting won't be so horrible...

Image

And finally, the knitting project. It is a little radishy since you mentioned it, but it still fits well and now I have an awesome hat. I'll wear it any time I want to feel like Ron Weasley, which is all the time.

Image

I tried to get Greta to wear the hat for a group photo, but that didn't work out so well. >_> But thanks, and Merry Christmas!

Just a quick heads up for whoever's sending me something: I won't be able to tell you if I've gotten it or not for at least another 3-5 days, as I'm currently visiting family 400 miles away from where the sending address is.

Woke up from my usual Saturday afternoon nap. Correction: Froze from my nap, since I forgot to turn up the space heater. Ran downstairs to the bathroom, and on the way back, looked at the bookcase by the front door, where my dad usually puts my mail. I squee'd when I saw there was a package for me.

(Spoiler'd to save room, and due to big pictures)

Spoiler:
I saw this:

Image

Hmmm...what could be inside it?

Bobcat?

Why, another package wrapped in fancy paper and a Runic message:

Image

But what message from Father Odin and the Aesir be contained therein?

Image

Image

Doing my best to translate, this is what I got:

The first message reads:

Warning: High levels of GEEKINESS went into the wrapping of this package!

And the rest:

...also trace amounts of DORK, SILLY, and XKCD COMICS! Handle with care!

So, of course, I ripped into the package. The details are too grim to post here.

Inside the wrapping:

A Book!

Image

After flipping through it a bit, it sounds rather interesting. Will probably give it a read over the long holiday weekend. Currently working on something else right now

But what's this? A small package? With another Runic message? What else doth Father Odin say? Or perhaps Frigg or Freya?

Image

Open carefully! (for real this time!)

What ho?

Image

That's probably one of the coolest things I've gotten, a complete stranger sharing a family tradition with another complete stranger. I have taped the penny to the piece of paper and plan to get a nice frame for it.

Thanks Cathy!

(Now I feel like a complete ass, just going on Amazon and picking out the gift for my recipient. No thought put into it. I'm sorry. Hope you like it, still.)

So at least that worked more or less as it was supposed to.

The transit time for regular parcels is given as 15-30 days, so the real gift should arrive sometime between next week and mid-January.

Hmmm...

Got home from work early Thursday the 23rd, since we were off for the holiday on Friday. I had been forewarned of this. Due to a slight mix-up, I received gifts from not one, but two Secret Santys. The most recent one was pretty awesome.

It contained this book (pic stolen from Amazon, since I can't seem to find my camera):

Image

And a note, which reads (let me consult the ancient runes omnibus again...):

Happy Holidays!

Also, maybe happy hauntings?

If your curious I've actually visited a lot of abandoned and/or haunted locations here. I probably have photos & info on things your curious about, and can promise a guided tour if you visit :)

-Mike
aka PhoenixEnigma

Thanks, man! I may have to take you up on it, once I can afford a passport and air fare up to America's Toque. Will probably bring a few folks from the paranormal group I'm in as well. Hope you like the video I sent. It's the only thing I could think of at the last second, not knowing how long it would have taken it to get to you.

If no one has received a gift yet, I've got a spare tin of cookies I can ship out next week. I'll let the organizers assign one to me.

Ohmigosh I got home and I found a package from where? -- from Canada! -- waiting for me! I was so excited! Home-made soap and bubbley bath soap was a welcome surprise, I love that kind of thing! Also, the moment I saw the knee socks that were like the sky (blue with white clouds) I put them on, and haven't taken them off. I adore them! The kitty socks were so very adorable as well! The tea smells so good - Juicy Cherry looks especially delicious.

I'll put pictures up soon!

Thanks poxic!

Glad you liked it! Sorry it arrived late, the lady at the postoffice told me the shipping method I bought would be fast enough for xmas.

Also, I'm glad you have the ability to play the record. I was a bit unsure of sending that, as many people don't have record players. But apparently it's even your preferred format, so it worked out. :)

Most of the airports around here were operating at a fraction of their normal capacity due to the snow. I wouldn't be surprised if they were still trying to work through the mountains of air-mail that was left behind because of cancelled flights.
I'm pretty sure it would have arrived in time, if the weather had been better.
