My cats used to have this system to let me know when they were out of food. When I'd get up in the morning, they'd meow at me and try and lead me to the food bowl. The problem is they kept doing it all the time, even when they had food - so the system kind of broke. Now, they just walk back and forth on me for as long as I can stand it while trying to sleep - and pretty much always at about 5 AM.

One of my cats did discover exactly how to wake me up while we lived at my parents' house. She would walk back and forth on me, then go and chew on the spring door stop. It made a horrific twanging sound it was not possible to sleep through. She'd then repeat that until I got out of bed.

No one. I think my old plush toys are somewhere in the attic at my parents house.

Oh boy! I used to be like that during high school. I'd have dozens of books on my bed. Encyclopedia volumes from the seventies, mostly, but also therauri, dictionaries, atlases, Stephen King novels, classics, whatever. I'd just sleep surrounded by books :D . And I never knocked them off.

Nowadays I sleep with my laptop. When I'm at home I sleep with Tabby, my friend Catherine. I wish I had a picture of her. When I was younger I had a stuffed dog. He looked something like this: http://www.splashofcolour.net.au/Image/HuskySit.jpg

His name was Wolfie Eskimo [my last name].

A small orange elephant called Trunky.

He arrived in a shoebox from Germany from my mum's childhood pen friend when I was born 23.5 years ago (they still send Christmas cards to each other). He will stay with me forever.

Depends if Girlfriend is over. If she is, it's her. Otherwise, it's my half jack russel terrier, half beagle named Stella.

Necro'ing for curiosity (and because I can).

I share my bed with a Yelling Bird and a 2' tall (mind-bogglingly huge) green chibithulhu from Munchkin Cthulhu.

Occasionally, this adorable, but unoriginal dog. I call him spot, despite his official name of "Dotty." Also, a small koala bear puppet named Baby Bear. Most of the time nothing and no one.

If I'm lucky, just me and my wife.

If I'm unlucky, the greyhound will come in and do his species "ratcheting" move - because he's only 7 inches wide, he can fit into even the tiniest gap between us. Once there, every time we move away, he takes up a little more room until he's stretched out completely, taking up the better part of the bed (he's 7 inches wide but nearly 3 feet tall and over 4 feet long without tail). My wife and I wind up exiled to 12" sections on each side, until he wakes up enough to jab whoever got the feet because he wants attention.

Sometimes we kick him out, but he's so cute we sometimes just tolerate it. After all, he's 9 and set in his ways.

Hehe. My dog has been known to literally shove people out of bed.

In general, my beloved cat, Behemoth, and my beloved laptop, Thinkpad T60. The cat's sleeping downstairs at the moment though.

The only reason ours doesn't is because we've got a king-sized bed. When he gets on the sofa, he'll physically shove us off to get more space.

Not any more but when I was younger I had a blue bear called... Blue Bear. And a brown bear called, well, Brown Bear. And a green dragon called Greeny... urm, yeah, I wasn't the most original of children when it came to naming things...

When I'm not with my boyfriend, my bed is usually piled with tons of stuff - currently my laptop case, towels, and several books are on half of the bed (note, this even happens when I have a twin - that's what I grew up with). But, I do sleep with two stuffed animals - Pippo the Hippo who I've had forever and is a little frail, and a stuffed husky (our college mascot) that my boyfriend got me. She's a little more robust, so I actually cuddle with her while Pippo generally just lays there unless I'm having a particularly bad day.

I'll even sleep with a stuffed animal if I'm with my boyfriend. Thankfully he doesn't seem to mind.

occasionally my girlfriend. Barring that, whatever gathers on my bed (books, computer stuff, other random bits), and on nights where I feel particularly lonely, the teddy bear I've had since I was one.
