Any self-respecting nerd should recognise mine.

It's HAL9000, the homicidal computer from A Space Odyssey.

Also, Nyarl's pic look better small, that way the hand looks creepy, instead of henna'd

Avatar? I know of no such thing...

Um...I had Faye Valentine, from Cowboy Bebop, as my avatar, but I decided that she's too much woman for one pink avatar to hold. So...Gir?

Edit: I decided that Phenriz's avatar was cooler, so I changed mine...yet again.

Fitting.

I spent some time killing time on the net looking at wolf photos, this one is Nk, and he is the fluffiest of all the wolves I've seen. As a wolf, [s]I'd be[/s] I am super-plushy, but a uniform silvery colour, instead of the creamy colour.

No, it is a zombie hand. The symbols are there to keep it from rotting. I have to re-apply them every day.

I think I've explained this before once or twice...it's an F/A-18 Hornet breaking the sound barrier. The white cloud is due to the rapid change of pressure across the shock wave, causing the moisture in the air to condense. Only happens under specific conditions.

Well, I've been to lazy to actually put it in my profile here...

but this is it:

Basically, in my Alg 2S/Trig class, full of insane people, half of us ended up with nicknames. After I was declared a communist for wearing a red shirt, I got the name Comrade Tanto. I use a 3D rendered one a lot of the time, but this is the new one I got as a prize for a contest my friend did. It looks far better at a higher resolution.

And do not say I spelled Tanto wrong. Everyone says "The Lone Ranger's sidekick was Tonto" to me. There is absolutely no relation...at all.

Jeet Kune Do. It's a Photoshopped version of the symbol that I did for my instructor's now defunct website.

The version that was actually used had the 汉字 around the border, but at avatar size it was unreadable and just looked sloppy.

Yeah, he's not in the show. He may have a small part in Samurai X but methinks not. I have no idea where the colored image came from. I don't think it's fanart.

The most romantic picture I have ever seen.

Notice that its set centuries ago, the guy is chained, the girl isn't, and was able to get into the prison very likely because she is loyalty.

Or so I interpret it, don't even know the artist :(

Totally stole this from a friend. I'm just really amused by manatees, and the scenario strikes me as hysterically funny. (Every time I read it I laugh because of the voices the two have.) Another one I use, which will probably pop up eventually, is a walrus. I love walruses (walri, I usually say).

Mine is from instructions from a Japanese handgun. I wanted to use the one with the guy shooting himself in the face, but for some reason didn't... Maybe I'll get around to chqanging it eventually...

Mine is the album cover of the R.E.M. album Automatic For The People. I love that album. A lot. The design is a sculpture from a hotel in Miami.

I only had a choice of four avatar sized pictures to choose from. This one, a Bulbasaur, the previously mentioned Bulbasaur fading to this and then back or a stick man lopping the head off another stick man in all of three colour, three frame animated gif glory! While cool, it's not quite me.

The name Pixel comes from the Heinlein novel The Cat who walks through walls. I have an older UK edition with this cover art. While I liked the concept, a cat stepping through a crack in a wall with a starscape showing through the crack, the actual art was mediocre.

So way back in '97 I scanned a picture of a orange & white striped kitten, and drew in the rest. My original drawing is here(suffering from color shifting from jpeg compression). I've used the green-walled variation as my avatar nearly everywhere I've had an avatar.

EDIT: for those interested, the scan of the cover art came from the Heinlein Book Cover Museum.
