Saw this today on Avweb and thought I'd share. You can click and drag the video frame to pan around as the heli is flying. It looks pretty awesome but unfortunately my connection is too slow to watch right now. I've never seen a video done like this, anyone know of anything similar?

That is possibly one of the coolest things ever done with a video camera. I've never seen something like that.

Quick Google search yields:

That's pretty awesome. I wish the fps on it was a little higher because I noticed some stuttery feel. All in all though pretty darn cool. Kind of reminds me of google's street view.

that was very enjoyable.

But yes, I agree that they needed a better frame rate. Still, quite enjoyable.

a nice way to start the day =)
Now, could someone *please* put that camera into an fighter jet? Or the Space Shuttle?

If i remember correctly there were some news about a camera from sony, wich attempted to record a panoramic image by filming a spheric mirror. But that of course compares pretty bad to the above...

Korrente, I watched that video last night, panning around as the helicopter moved around, but then I went to bed early, with a headache that I had no sign of before I watched the video. And I'm not a person who gets headaches or nausea from shaky-cam movies or 3-D movies. So 360 videos are amazing, but not necessarily particularly usable.

Enuja, It could have been the way he was flying. I've tried my hand at aerial photography here recently and it's really difficult to focus on a spot on the ground while your plane is banking around and moving and whatnot (especially if you're flying it).

Also I'm sure there's a disclaimer somewhere that I'm not responsible for any physiological symptoms originating from this film. Please don't sue me.
