As this seems like an appropriate first post, here goes...
18/M/St.Ives, Cornwall, UK (Soon to be Reading)
I am starting my first year of MEng Cybernetics at Reading University on the 2nd of October. Hopefully I'll be able to get a job with robotics, but in the mean time the co-op will do.

21(finally)/M/Seattle(essentially. If you're from here, you know what I mean).

I am a college-going wage slave in a book warehouse. My entire job consists of finding books, occasionally putting them back, occasionally packing them. The only reason it isn't worse than MacDonald's is that I don't have to deal with people.

I'm _in_ college for an English Major, and I want to write, write, write! (If I could sing I would, but I can't.) Of course, I can never seem to find time to do so.

I figure this as good a place as any to introduce myself. I started reading the comics in the middle of the summer when a friend showed me one of them. Basically I spent the next hour or so reading through all the comics a few times. I love this kind of humor.

Anyway...

19/m/ going to University of Delaware for undergrad in History and Medical Humanities

so...yeah...math jokes kinda go over my head sometimes...

Right now I live in New York, but I spend most of my summers in Pennsylvania, and I really prefer western Massacheusetts. While I go to college (computer science) by day, the inside of my head is populated by an incredibly verbose cast of nutjobs and beatniks who come out at night and try to convince me that what I should really be doing is hitchiking across Europe while writing The Next Great American Novel and learning to play a mean harmonica. Then morning rolls back around and I remember that most of the time I really do enjoy computer science, and I can't carry a tune to save my life.
As long as I am alive and well I will continue to feel strongly about prose style, to love the surface of the earth, and to take pleasure in scraps of useless information.

I take it this is basically the intro thread?

21/Male/University of Idaho.

CS major, trying to do a million things on the side.

I actually found xkcd through Websnark. I'm a big webcomic aficionado, keeping up to date with roughly 60 of them. No RSS or anything; "open in tabs" with daily bookmark folders is awesome.

I'm not sure how often I'll post, but I'll definitely put in some effort.

19/Male/Alaska

I am a Mechanical Engineering student, second year. Also, I think this comic is freaking hilarious.

(I am also coveting that "Science, it works bitches" shirt so bad. And that path efficiency one is my entire world.)

The idea of corporate whores always makes me want to go into that line of work. Tragically they're never quite what I think they are.

18/f/summerville, sc

I read too much. I listen to lots of different music. I drink more than I should and have too many bad habits. I drink a lot of coffee and I work in a greek restaurant. One day I'm going to be an English teacher. I really hate the place I live, but so do most other people. Or that is what I keep hearing. I'm a nice girl, but pretty shy. I use the phrase "I do what I can" entirely too much. Also, I say "that's exciting" or "I'm excited" a lot. My favorite adjective is 'cute'. I am horrible with math.

edit: I do not feel entirely intelligent enough for this message board. That is not going to stop me from hanging around, though.

You sound like a female hemingway. :P

Oh. I guess I should do this thing too.

22/m/Kenosha, WI soon to be NYC, NY

I, too, read too much. I'm a computer science major, graduating in december. Working in Web Application Development. Love my work, and the jokes in xkcd seem to be pulled straight out of my psyche. Moving as soon as I graduate for a pretty sweet job in NYC. Gonna be needing some new friends if anyone wants to say hi.

I say "indeed" too much. I suck at higher level math, too. But discrete math I don't mind. I'm odd.

I demand to know why the population of Massholes on this forum so disproportionate!!

I also demand to know which city those of you who haven't yet mentioned your city are from. (demeteloaf, i invented rain, and others...) And why you live in such an abysmal state. Heh.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I currently reside in Cambridge for schooling purposes - Boston's nice and all, but if MIT were in Maine, I'd be there instead.
