This wasn't last night, but just a vivid one I remember.

I am on an acid trip. I am also stranded on a deserted island. A squirrel comes running by and I start hitting it with a bat. Just when it dies it transforms into a man. The dream transfers to a college campus and I am still tripping. We give some more LSD to some girls and we then are arrested by some sort of police. They take us to this crazy house with a huge cat at the center of it. We try to escape by getting around it but it can not be done. Finally someone let us out.

This sentence was a lot weirder before I realized the word "bat" has two meanings... damn homophones...

@Trevor, were you tripping in the dream, or IRL?
You've just lost twenty dollars and my self respect.

In the dream. Sleeping while tripping IRL is the hardest thing to do.

I think that I started to spend to much time on the fora, because lately I saw couple of dreams in which I went to US and stayed in the same hotel with lots of other xkcdians. Not that it was somebody particular. Just bunch of random generic cool guys and beautiful girls. :) It is very weird to speak in a dream on a foreign language. Also there was some guy about whom I was 100% sure that he is Belial. He was tall, fat and bald. :D

This one hapened a while ago, but it was one of the most vivd dreams I've had in a while.

So in the dream I had just gotten my drivers license (something aI'm about to do in a week or two in real life), and along with getting the license, I had gotten myself a girlfreind. I guess she was kinda poor, because she was always obsessed with getting free stuff, and taking advantage of all sorts of free oppertunities. One of her schemes to get free stuff was to collect as many soda pop caps and enter the codes for points in wich to get things. So we would spend all day looking around town for these caps. We looked everywhere -- dumpsters, alley ways, parking lots -- and eventually we had cleaned out the whole town of caps, so it was time to serach at a larger city. Since Ihad just gotten my license I was still a bit worried about driving too far from home, esspecially at night. But alas, I was in love, I would do anything. Traveling to the next large city -- about 30-40 miles away -- was also a difficult task since I didn't have a vehicle of my own. To make up for this, I decided to take my dad's old motorcycle. I have no experiance maneuvering anything with less than two wheels apart from the common bicycle. On long roads where I could easily keep my speed up I was ok, but whenever I would have to slow down I was in trouble. I had no idea how to stop. Red light? I just plowed through. And thats how it was for the entire trip. I was nervous the entire drive too, because one, I had taken my dads bike without his consent, two, I was driving farther than I was suppposed to, and three, I was driving much later than I was supposed to. But anyways, I had made it to the city where I parked the bike in a parking lot by some restaurants. I looked around but didn't find any caps. But since I didn't want to return home empty handed, I walked through a drive through and asked for some tarter sauce. They gave me some tarter suace. I went home.

The End

I dreamed (sp?) I was banned. All my posts had a dull grey background, to contrast the pleasant looking blue and white backgrounds. I was given a title, which I think I thought was an insult to my spelling. It was a three letter word that I can't remember, followed by an unknown two letter word, and then another small word. They were all misspelled. I then checked every other place I'm a member of. I was banned at all of them, probably for the same unknown reason.

It was one of the weirdest nightmares that I have ever had, and it made me wonder if I shouldn't have eaten that leftover piece of cake from Canada Day before going to bed.

I had a very VERY long dream. However a decent chunk of it was a group of explorers that I was a member of, and we could travel to different planets via the use of a linux command line or something. It was very much like Stargate except without the good old rings. And we were exploring different planets to find god.

My team slowly disappeared in our travels but at last I got to the planet where god lived. It was my own house! I slowly walked towards the living room. It was very dark, night time, lights were off. He wasn't anywhere to be found. God was actually not home. However when I tried to leave, there was this odd static, smeared ghost skull just floating in such an perfectly still manner. I had to struggle not to look at it, because It kept drawing me closer in the weird way a video game does when its physics engine messes up.

I had a Stargate-esque dream.

I had been drafted into the Stargate program, because they had come across the world of Azeroth, and they nedded experts on it's history.

So I got to use the Stargate, but then I called attention to the fact that anything that goes through the gate is reducing the net mass of the earth, and everytime we meet a new alien Culture we give 'em a brand new box, to throw into the gate when they're in trouble.

Hammond was like "What does that mean?'

And I was like
"IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!"

And this vortex appeared, and Sam explained that for some reason she had to Sacrifice herself to save everyone... Might have been a Ma'chello weapon designed to kill Goa-Uld (Hence the Sam connection)
The Vortex went away for some reason.

I think eventually Sam survived but I replaced Daniel on the team because he went to live with some Athenians who had the Dionysia once every week.

I got Teal'c to give me a Piggy-back.
"GRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOWR!!!!"

This isn't from last night, but I just stumbled across this on my Livejournal (I occasionally go through my own archives to reminisce), and it was too awesome to not be shared:

"All I can remember from my dream last night:

I'm standing in front of That Man's house, and I know if I just close the gate and lock it the entire place will go up in flames (the bomb is rigged to go off when the gate locks). Then, when he had no possessions or home left, I'd hunt him down and kill him.

Except for the part where he's now driving up the driveway. He sees me, stops, and gets out of the car, fumbling for his gun. He finds his grip and shoots at me, but he's a second too late. I've already shot at him and ducked out of the way. I was aiming for his chest, but my hand was shaking so badly I got his head instead (an acceptable miss).

Now that he's dead, I scout the premises for more people and I find none. I decide that I want to look around his house before it burns, so I walk up the front walkway and into the front door, closing it behind me. And that's when the recording starts:
"Actually, you were lied to. It's linked to the front door closing. Also, you're locked in."
I run to the door and frantically try to open it. It is, indeed, locked. And that's when I hear the muffled explosion and know I have, at most, two minutes to live.

(Luckily, that's also when I woke up with my heart pounding, adrenaline rushing, and sweat running down my face.)"

Last night's dream was, shall we say, not suitable for a public discussion.

One I had recently though, I was at my desk, at work, frantically debugging some code. Only every time I tried to add in a missing line, the screen would scroll suddenly and I wouldn't be able to stop typing in time so the line would go into the wrong place. Then I'd hit F5 and the program would crash. After the crash, I looked up, and a piece of the ceiling had gone pixellated and corrupt. I kept trying to debug the code, but every time it crashed, more and more of reality would get corrupted graphics. Eventually, I was surrounded by corrupted graphics. I made one final change, tried to run it, and woke up just as I was about to become corrupted myself.

How this reflects my life at the moment, is left as an exercise for the reader.

I once had a dream where I kept waking up in my room over and over again. The first couple of times there were people trying to get into my room through the door and the window (I live on the 3rd floor, talk about paranoid) and then I realized I was dreaming so one time I started playing Monopoly with myself, I pulled the covers over my head waiting to wake up again knowing it'd be into another dream... yeah. I was pretty annoyed.

I went to the sea, which I never do. After a short while in the water, I come out. Apparently I'm naked, but wearing a large blanket/towel (most important thing in the universe, that). I also don't have my cell phone, only keys to my car.

I decide to walk to friend A's house first (wearing the towel like a toga of sorts). The friend lives about 10 minutes from the beach even though in RL it's about a 30 minute walk, at least. I arrive there to find friend B (and A's there too) and we talking a bit.

After a short while I leave and try to get back to my car. Unfortunately I can't find it. I decide to go to the university (another dimensional inconsistency). It looks completely different from always and I can't find my way anywhere. I walk around for hours trying to find the way our, I'm getting burned in the sun and I'm thirsty. No one can help me find the way.

Eventually I manage to get out of the university and I find someone who can help me get back to my parking lot, at which point I awoke.

The morning of the dream I awoke at 7:30, I don't know why. I then had a short SMS chat with friend B, inviting me to a surprise birthday party for friend A. Both friends I know from uni and the day before I had a test. Anyway, after the chat I went back to sleep for two hours and that's when I dreamt it.

Strange.

Also, Firefox's spell checker doesn't recognize "dreamt".

My dreams have been really messed up lately.... probably because of my erratic sleep schedule.

Anyway, last night's was weird. It somehow involved both romantic cuddling with a close friend and some kind of sea serpent that could break up into smaller serpents. Suddenly I and a bunch of people I know are adventurers, hunting this sea serpent for the bounty on its hide. Then I started dreaming about dragons, especially dragoons. For some reason, we (the adventurers) had to fight dragoons and their dragon partners. (and they had typical rpg elements: Fire, ice, sky, earth, poison, dark, light, etc) It was pretty odd. I was sad, because we were just going around killing the dragoons for no apparent reason.

Probably all caught up in the "Onanism and such" and "Off-color" conversations. My dream last night was NOT sexual in any way but was romantic. Whole dream was basically like a perfect date and then first kiss with this girl I like and have a date with Sat. Dreams like this are possibly setting me up for disappointment, but whatever.

In regards to your last comment, and I think many math textbook-readers will agree, "Left as an exercise to the reader" is the stuff of frustration-nightmares, where you wake up and just want to throw something.

tonight (well, i went to sleep at 7am) i were at a skiing park i have been a couple of times before in my dreams, and talked to my snowboarding teacher. after 2 hours or so, i've suddenly been in the church in my hometown, which is not even near any mountains. the ceremony hadn't started yet, and all the stupid people of my town walked in. the priest was dressed in a large black & white robe with a ku-klux-klan-like black hat. he started, and after the end he announced that a band will be playing now. it was some kind of satanic rock band, they played slipknot or something like that, and the people freaked out, except for the priest, me and my brother. for some reason i played the 2nd drum kit after a while. then i walked over to the community room, where some black metal dudes had cut off arms for sale. then i woke up.

I just remembered my dream from last night... it was disturbing. I was standing on the edge of the ocean, but I think the beach was made of cement... watching a dead sperm whale bob up and down as it slowly washed in to shore. Everything was grey, the land, the sky, the sea, the whale... the ends of the earth usually are, in my dreams. CreemyNougat was there too, he walked up to me and I asked him something, but I can't remember what it was. He just nodded and held my hand and we just stood there, watching.

What I asked him may very well have been, "This is the last one, isn't it?"

It was very strange.

I had a Lucid Dream!
Last night!

OK, You know how you wake up in a dream only to find your still in the dream? Well this happened about 10 times in my dream, or dreams.
I was in the first one and I knew it was a dream, so I did the thing where I pinched myself, I woke up, still in the dream without knowing it at the start, I was like FUCK, so I started hitting myself in the balls REALLY hard, and I didn't stop, I was really worried I was hitting my balls in real life (luckily I wasn't) That didn't wake me up from that dream, but in the dream my balls were really sore and disformed now, then I went and did some dream stuff (followed the story line of dream) then I woke up from that one eventually, and wasn't sure if it was dream, then after a few times, I started to wonder if I could control the dream, so I went into this store and started levitating, and making all this food appear - so cool! I didn't have complete control, but still a good amount, then I went and run around real fast and some 'other' stuff.... Anyway it was awesome!

Probably the worst night sleep I'd ever had.
But definitely the best dream.

Anyways goodnight, hopefully I will be able to remember and control my next one!

Remembering dreams is insanely difficult if you don't write them down in a 'dream journal' of some sort after you wake up.

My most recent dream was three nights ago though. It was ridiculously boring and because it was lucid I was bored in my own dream. I dreamed I finished my 4000 word essay, then I woke up and all I could think was: "Damn, I still need one more set of results before I can finish it :(!".

I usually lucid dream when I'm sleeping in on the weekends, I'll drift in and out of sleep. But then the reverse will happen, where I'll be laying in bed debating whether to get up, and trying to figure out what had happened earlier while I was in bed was a lucid dream or actually real.

I'm generally crap at remembering dreams, but recently I've been having more of them that I can.

1) This isn't recent, it was a nightmare from when I was 6 or 7. Lots of rats, telephone exchange. Rats are eating through all the cables. Telephone exchange blows up, world ends, I wake up and scream.
Yeah, I know the mere chewing of a few wires would only result in a few fried rats, but that's the dream.

2) Quite often I seem to be in school, which is confusing. Generally I wake up at the end of a school day... which is annoying because I only ever have these dreams when there is school the next day, so I have to go through the routine again.

I had a dream where I was a little girl and I was having a sleepover with another girl who I was sure was a Holocaust survivor. That obviously made no sense, because she was probably about seven years old, but it didn't phase me at the time.

I don't know if I woke up and then went back to sleep or not, but I vaguely remember getting up to see if I set my alarm clock. I saw that I still had a half hour to sleep, but I don't remember if this actually happened or not. I either went back to sleep after that or continued to sleep. I was debating about whether I should wake up or not, but I was sure that I was asleep at this point in time.

Also, the other day it was kind of odd because I woke up one morning and couldn't remember for the life of me whether something my stepdad said to me was actually said to me or whether I dreamt it. I still don't know. I don't even remember what it was, just some little fragment of conversation.

The dream started out normal enough (I've forgotten how it started but it was rather lengthy). At some point I found myself on a dirt road/path that went past a cottage. There was this kid near the cottage with an axe, he was slowly chopping (the axe was heavy) away at something on a log (it turned out to be a recorder, I guess he'd just finished music lessons or something). Out of nowhere, this baby, maybe 2-3 years old started doing that baby unsteady walk past me towards the kid with the axe. Forseeing disaster I ran after the baby.

The kid managed to bring the axe down (not on the baby) before I could get to the baby, who at that point was next to the log. I scooped the baby up and held it in front of me and looked at it. The baby was sorta crying a bit and grabbing at my hands and.. then it started seeping this sorta brown.. stuff... from its chest.
I then looked at it's eyes, obviously confused as all hell. It had no pupils or irises, just white and more of the brown was seeping from under its eyelids.

I woke up around then

But, that's not it.

I normally leave the playlist on my computer playing softly through my headphones when I sleep. When I woke up, I could hear this barely audible, vaguely echoy and electronic chaotic choir of babies wailing coming from my headphones on my desk.
It was probably some song on my playlist that I could only half hear, but at the time; it sounded like babies. That went on for a minute or so (could have been longer). Eventually it stopped and a while later I calmed down enough to sleep.
I think I used to have a porpoise; then again, that might have been a dream. | Eternal life comes to those who wait

My lady and I were living at my parents house and I really had to pee. For whatever reason, I knew that using the actual bathroom was a really bad idea. I was supposed to use this tub that was in my mom's closet. But while I was going, I realized that the tub was more like a basket and it was going to leak everywhere.

I have no idea what this means, but I was glad when I woke up and I hadn't actually peed anywhere.

Last night I had a dream where an ex-girlfriend was the focus and I was only a minor character. I did set up some generic mean tricks when she wasn't around but other people kept screwing them up in some way so that she never knew, which I was then thankful for because I didn't actually want to do anything to her. :?

This made me think of this funny/weird dream I had:

My bedroom window looks out over a porch, and beyond is most of Camberville, Harvard University area. I used to wake up with the sun and roll over in my bed to watch the sunrise before I got up.
One morning I dreamed that I rolled over, and looked at the sky to see God, Jesus, and Mary standing on a cloud bank, pulling souls up into the afterlife. They were huge and looked vaguely like a set of cards, King, Queen, Jack.
Jesus looked over and noticed me watching, and walked toward me, across the sky. He stepped onto my porch, and suddenly I was standing there with him.
And the LORD said unto me, "Danielle?"
And I said, "Actually, it's Meaux."
He said, "Oh, I'm sorry."
I replied, "It's OK, I'm sure you meet a lot of people in your line of work."

And then the LORD spoke unto me and told me to do something, because I was chosen. Except after I woke up, the last part of the dream faded, and I can't remember that part, maybe I was supposed to paint a mural or something.

Well, whatever. JC forgot my name, and I forgot his divine instruction. I guess we're even.
Heyyy baby wanna kill all humans?

You know... the filter made that even more awesome. God, Mary, and the Leader of the Autobots...

The only recent dream that sticks in memory is a hot coworker agreeing to sleep with me. This happened during my last week at this job, which is in a week, so I hope I'm finally a prophet.

I remember this very vivid and creepy dream I had years ago: I used to play D&D with this substitute teacher in his apartment, and I dreamed my friends and I were there late one evening. We weren't playing D&D, however, instead we were doing something... occult. We'd take turns sitting cross-legged and bare-chested (no girls played with us) on the game grid, which was mounted on a rotatable platform. Then the teacher would trace the outline of the legs on the board with a marker. Before it was my turn, I looked at the back of the dark apartment, and there I saw... a squirrelman! Oh shiiiiit, I think, what the fuck is that??
I pointed in slow motion, and the squirrelman stood frozen for a moment before scooting into the shadows. "Ah", said the teacher, "the Gods are paying attention. We should hurry." I asked him what the hell was going on, and he started explaining very quickly. Squirrelmen were the servants of the god _____ (some central american name), and we were doing things he did not like. This was a very dangerous to do, but the squirrelmen were harmless. Before he finished the explanation there was a sound and I woke up.

First thing I tried writing in my dream journal was the name of the god we were pissing off, and the explanation he was giving, but that information flushed out of my memory even before I finished waking up.

One time, during a drug-induced daydream, I found the Secret of the Universe, the Foundation of All Existence, the Ultimate Truth. Problem is, it's a paradox - not comprehensible by human minds. To know it and to understand it pitches your mind into an unceasing spiral of madness. I was tormented in a personal Hell for half an hour, first trying to record the discovery, then fighting the insanity that was consuming me. Unsuccessful at writing it down, I eventually distracted my self long enough to forget it and regained my composure.

I had a dream that I was being attacked by a snake. Then I pulled out my pocketknife and cut off its head.

I'm sure there has to be some deep meaning in there somewhere...

I had a dream where I met everyone on xkcd and it turned out one of my friends who I don't get to talk to anymore was a member.

...

Oh and everyone was a vampire.

Thats as much as I can remember.

This is an actual dream I had just before I came back from camp. Actually, it was more of a nightmare. And believe me, this seriously scared me.

I went back to the xkcd fora and found that no one liked me anymore, and everyone was either new or had forgotten me. I was completely friendless, and I started crying.

I SWEAR SWEAR SWEAR TO OPTIMUS PRIME THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. And it made me really sad.

I played a lot of World of Warcraft last week, and when I get bingey with my games, I dream in their themes.

Thursday I had a dream that I was about to run an instance with 4 other random people, I was the healer.

Before we went in the instance, I actually realized I was dreaming, enough that I told the group I couldn't run the instance because I needed to fully focus on sleeping for a good day at work the next day.

I have this tendency to convince myself I'm not dreaming. Have you ever heard that if you can tell if you're dreaming by reading something, looking away, and then looking back to see if it changed? My subconcious recently had me looking harder the second time, so I was just noticing stuff I hadn't before. Sometimes I really want to not be dreaming. Other times it kind of feels as tho' I'm purposefully trying to figure something out.

This one time I dreamt my sister was going to marry a cuttlefish (wich was really an anglerfish). She was spending time under water to study them, and got to know one and fell in love I guess. I wasn't really there for that part of the dream. Then I got a canister(-thing) of air so I could go to this sunken hotel-deal they were staying out, but I couldn't figure out how to use it (I think I was trying to squeeze bubbles out of it and breathe them). I decided that I didn't drown so the corridor I was in must not be filled with water. Then I went into this room that had... water in part of it, a big basin or something. We talked and I decided he was a pretty nice guy. Then he said something rather profound and I sort of left my body or something. Afterwards, there was sort of a break in the dream, and it was out of order. Sort of video game style, I sank the hotel we were in.

Every now and then I have these dreams that involve getting these profound messages of sorts. I really wish I could remember them better.

There was also that dream I had a while back, about the world ending and meeting a guy I sort of knew from the internet, who has this one webcomic, and the websight has a blue and wight background...

I am sorry, but that just stood out at me. You just reminded me of something that happened in my dream yesterday, where I had to hold my breath underwater, and every time I was just about to burst I managed to just reach an air pocket, but so marginally it was possible I hadn't. Eventually I got to a point where I had to breathe where there definitely wasn't a pocket in sight, and I could breathe. I concluded that I wasn't ever underwater.

I am feeling an eerie connection right now! But seeing as you went on to dream something profound, rather than going on to be groped by a creepy Russian man, saved by a bassist mate and finally buy a steak sandwich, I think the water thing was the limit of our connection. :P

Something to do with my ex girlfriend, and a towel.. I don't really remember it, but from those two things, I'll assume it was good.
