Strapless bras are kind of useless.

I beg to differ. I always pin my dresses to the strapless bras. They are quite useful.

Thanks DJ.

I've used strapless bras to great effect. They're good inventions if worn properly.

Also, see my rant about what happened this morning. Argh stupid pants.

So, I've been pretty addicted to watching the videos made by Sarah Haskins, about advertising which targets women. They are fucking hilarious and i immediately though of posting them in the woman thread.

Sarah Haskins is my girlcrush! Along with Jo Nash! *squee*

Sarah is asked the question "Are you a feminist?"

Yes, I’m a feminist. It is an extension of my lifelong war against pantyhose. To me it means that as women we are individuals before we are gendered people and that we’re not defined by our gender except in the ways we chose to appropriate that definition. We’re in a weird generation, right? Our Moms were forced to grapple with that definition more immediately, and I think it’s changed as we’ve grown up. The core issue "how do I fight bias against me because of my gender" is still there but has gotten more complicated and wrapped into all kinds of identity issues about how you present yourself as a woman and I pretty much think it's your choice and fuck pantyhose.
Raise up the torch and light the way.

Anyway.

I need a good orgasm book, I want one that might be useful for Skippy to read, and one that might be useful for me to read. They can be the same book or two different books. I've looked at some stuff on Amazon. Some of it is really stupid and useless looking. Some of it looks like it MIGHT be useful, it's hard to say, you can only read the first six pages. Anyway, halp?

That's pretty much how I found them :D. Ooh and thanks for the regular postings of Lady News, Soph. I like to try my best, keeping up on feministin' issues.

Sprocket, I can't think of any books which I know of, which aren't either the Kama Sutra or little crappy leaflets of sex positions you get in cheapo sex toy kits (glow in the dark sex dice, flimsy handcuffs etc). The Joy of Sex comes to mind, but I haven't actually read it so...er..that's a bit of pointless book naming there. I found my parents copy of that when I was younger. I wasn't amused.

Me and my friends very much enjoyed them.

I don't have good luck with strapless bras, they don't come up far enough. I used to have one that fit perfectly but that was a LONG time ago.

"The Multi-Orgasmic Couple" pretty much taught me how to orgasm without the aid of a shower head, some guy in my photography class lent it to me when I was 15. That one would be good for both of you...for Skippy, I've heard relatively good things about "She Comes First."

Ah orgasms. *sigh* Since I've been on antidepressants I've been unable to have an orgasm no matter what I tied. Which is pretty ironic since I went on said antidepressants because I was feeling unappreciated since Boy is sitting at home watching porn all day. Not fair, at all.

On the topic of strapless bras. I find them pretty much useless because my waist dips in fairly steeply - it's like trying to keep a bra on a martini glass - it's just not going to happen.

Orgasms:
((Edit:^^ Anit-depressants suppress orgasms?!?))

Erm, I don't have much to say, out of little to none experience, about it. The only book I can think of that might help is "The Vagina Monologues".

Strapless bra: I have this multi-functional bra from Victoria Secrets that isn't too bad. That Freedom bra whatnot was..well..quite different than anything I've seen. I wonder if it works..

As to the HPV shots: My sister (who is starting/started her last year of med school) and my pediatrician both think the shot is a good idea. My best friend is skeptical from bad/mild reactions she has seen. I am still on the fence about it and I need to do some more research. I am mainly concerned on how my body will react with the shots. So yeah..more research must be done on my part! Tally ho!

Yes, antidepressants can prevent orgasms, I would mess about with your dosage if it's a big problem.

I've read though that doctors are now also occasionally prescribing viagra to women to treat this. You could look into that.

I know one experience isn't necessarily representative of everybody, but I had just about no reaction to the shots whatsoever. My friend's arm was sore for a bit, but that's no biggie compared to reducing your risk for cancer, I feel. Good luck with your research, and I hope you consider the shots!

I had mild reactions to it, my arm was a bit sore and a little red, but then again, I don't tend to tolerate any drugs well, and it was rather fine and went away within an hour or two. I also kind of had a bit of a cold when I had them all done (every one of them I had to have, I had a cold that week), but because I wasn't feverish they said it was fine. We got them free at school and in Australia you get them free up until I think mid-20's? I can't remember the exact age.

I certainly had no objections to it at all.

My problem with the multi-orgasmic couple is it SOUNDS like it's about having multiple orgasms, more than having an orgasm at all but, that's just what it sounds like. Also, I'm not interested in a book that's focused on having an orgasm during intercourse, for obvious reasons.

Well, it was useful to me before I'd had any kind of partner sex at all, let alone penetrative intercourse. Might be worth a look, especially if you just borrow it from Sophy.

Do you actually look for things to get picky about, regardless of validity? It's designed to "enhance[s] the lift, shape and volume of the derriere". It's marketed at women who want to make their arse look bigger and rounder than it is, to put it bluntly. They're not going to bother making it for larger or even average-sized women - that's not their target market. I have friends that are super slim and they have it pretty tough too - in fact, even tougher usually than larger women, who have specifically catered, gorgeous clothing styles and ranges available to them. Although they might not like this particular product they'd be overjoyed to find clothing that caters specifically for smaller than average sizes.

Dude. Ignoring the flamebait part of your post...

hermaj wrote: I have friends that are super slim and they have it pretty tough too - in fact, even tougher usually than larger women,

Not sure it's really possible to compare who has it worse, but I agree it's difficult for any body type that clothing manufacturers/designers don't think is worth catering to. Heck, it's not always easy for the body type that they do think is worth catering to. Clothing shopping is aggravating for almost everyone, for a multitude of reasons. And nothing in my post resembled "I am jealous of skinny women" which is what I think you might have read. I think your rant is entirely misdirected.

Every time someone disagrees with you and is... exasperated by you, it is not flamebait. It is disagreement and exasperation. You of all people should realise the distinction, if you want more of your posts interpreted as not baiting and as expressing frustration with everything you are frustrated with. Aside from that, I'd think twice before accusing a moderator of flamebaiting.

No, I do not believe I misinterpreted your post. I interpreted it as "The fact that they do not cater to larger women is poor / They're assuming that all women are slim and that is poor." I disagree with that statement. I don't really know or care what your personal motivations are or what size you are or anything like that. That is your own stuff.

Re: Woman thread - NO HOMERS CLUB

My post should rather have been interpreted as "I could not buy this product if I wanted to, which happens frequently enough to be upsetting to me when I see yet another example of same. Also, I am joining in on generally humorous group bashing of the concept and execution of the ass bra."

As for "not flamebait" can you imagine any circumstance in which the question "Do you actually look for things to be picky about?" leads to a civil discussion?

As for "I'm a moderator" yes you are, but you're not posting in that capacity, so I treated you like I would another user.
As for "this post is going to be a page-topper" hm, sorry about that everyone. Edit: I was wrong. Good/bad.
Raise up the torch and light the way.
