Skype - Get Continuous Audio Stream?

Postby free-bee » Thu Aug 28, 2014 9:05 pm UTC

I am setting up my screen recorder because it finally has the ability to overlay webcam video over the screen recording. Blah, blah, blah, I need to set up getting Skype audio into the main audio stream. Is there some account I can 'call' and get a continuous audio stream?

There should be a test account. I according to their website it's echo123 if it's not already in your contact list as "Echo / Sound Test Service".

Are there any non-echo ones? The echo would confuse me into thinking there was a delay in the audio.

You might be able to pull off some wizardry using Virtual Audio Cable.

I don't think that just because its name is "echo123" that it deliberately produces an echo. I'm pretty sure it's just the name of the audio test account. As far as I remember, it outputs an audio message so you can check your headphones, and then records a few seconds from your input source, and later plays that back to you so you can hear how you're coming through on the other end.

Edit: Oh, yeah, I see what you mean, you need something that's continuous.

Well, I guess my only other idea would be to grab a friend and have him play you some music over Skype, or if you have another computer nearby, set up a Skype there and do that from there.
