Router Level Monitoring

Postby Rwm28juni » Mon Feb 13, 2012 2:36 pm UTC

Hey guys, I'm looking for software that monitors traffic (as in every individual website visited) from every computer. Not filtering, because I don't want to block unnecessary sites, but software that monitors websites coming in, with URL. I have looked all over, but can't seem to find anything. Any suggestions?

Since it looks like you'd want to do this right on your router, as you want to log traffic from every computer on the LAN, a starting place would be to look into custom home-router firmware like OpenWRT or DD-WRT. I'd recommend OpenWRT myself, but it probably won't make much of a difference.

From there, you could probably look through some docs and find something that will work. Sometimes its as simple as enabling a core daemon with certain debug/logging options enabled.

I have never done this myself... This is just the first place I would look for tips.
