I dled an emulator specifically for Chrono Trigger a few months ago and played through it. Frog and Robo were teh pwnage. Magus was kickass too. Haha I always felt sorry for those poor chumps that got left behind at the End of Time (usually Marle). I guess they just played risk and checkers until I came back.

I rank Magus far above the other two. In fact, I think that the only person I like less than Frog and Robo is Lucca.

I didn't like Chrono Trigger so much. I loved the sequel, though. <raises shields>

However, I agree the music in CT is awesome and the graphics were great for its time. It's just the story I didn't like.

I will state that I love Chrono Trigger.
I will restate that I love Chrono Trigger.
I will admit that I spent two years trying to buy a copy.
I will also admit that my username of seven or so years (not this one) is based on Ayla.
I will also also admit that I spent several hours playing games at the Millennial Fair getting points so I could win cat food and get the maximum number of cats. I remember eleven.
I will not talk about Chrono Cross.
I will shut up.

Oh man, I need to track down the CT re-release they did for PS1. I played it on an emulator, but the ROM I had was jacked, and I never got all the way through the game. I'm much happier playing on a console than on my computer, anyway. :\

Don't have a copy of the ROM now, but I played through most of the game back in the day (by "most" I mean that I could have fought the end boss old whatsitsname at any time).

Frog, to me, simply owns. I mean he, ya know...
Spoiler:
Sliced a friggin' mountain in half. Dude, that was just cool. An erstwhile amphibian bearing the legendary sword Masamune is definitely for the win. Magus was pretty sweet as well, but he was more "generic angsty badass" cool instead of "noble cursed badass" cool.

Spoiler:
That scene where Frog slices the mountain in half is one of my top game moments ever. They do a really good job of presenting's Frog's life-long quest in such a way that you really want to finish it. I found myself going "fuck yeah! It's on now, Magus!" around there. And then once you beat him up, it turns out that he was just the top layer of all the crap going down.

Chrono Cross wasn't a bad game by any means, but... Trigger was much better. :P

And I actually started REPLAYING this game.. This week, I believe. I just got Robo and whatnot, I was never much of a fan of the following time period though, I dunno why..

600AD is by far the most interesting time period to be in, by the way.

Ah, CT is brilliant--my second-favorite game for the SNES. I haven't gone back and played it for a while, though.

I have the original Super Famicom cartridge (plus box and book) as well, for pretty cheap. KF

I... agree. Sorta. CT is a "better game" graphically, musically, creatively, and maybe even in story but FF6 is just more fun. Not that CT isn't an ever loving blast. I would RATE CT higher, but I play FF6 all the time and re-playing CT for the 15th time isn't nearly as rewarding.

Is there any way to get someone to low life without danger of him dying? Without something like Life Shaver (the only person worth mentioning that I can think of who has that is Zeal), you run a high risk of having Frog die if you try to get him to low life.

As for the Frog and Robo versus Magus issue, I just like Magus's backstory more. Frog's just doesn't catch my interest for some reason, and Robo can't bring himself to exterminate all humans, whereas Magus is...

Actually, I think I mainly like Magus because he has a scythe and Dark Matter. They're really cool. Also, he flies when he runs. Robo and Frog don't.

Not yet. They need to get it on there STAT.

I fell in love with this game when I borrowed it from my cousin MANY years ago. Probably about a year after it came out. Went through it, saw a huge number of the endings (but probably not all of them). Then, he asked for it back :(

I have the PSX re-release of the game, but I hate playing it because it takes FOR FREAKING EVER to load into menus. I very much want to pick up a SNES copy, but lack the funding.

My dream team was Chrono, Magus and Frog. The only drawback is that I needed Marle, Lucca and Magus to do the most powerful triple tech in the game.

While all the characters were awesome, Chrono, Magus and Frog definitely had the best storylines. I shouldn't even need to elaborate on that. Black Omen, nuff said.

Oh, and Mighty Jalapeno, if you're into the music, I'd suggest you check out all the Chrono Trigger OCRemix stuff if you haven't already:

I still haven't played Chrono Trigger and have been meaning to for about a decade. I don't really have an excuse.

I refuse to get the re-release for PS1 because if it's anything like the FF6 re-release I'd be sorely disappointed. No version of a SNES game should have load times, nevermind for battle animations and menu loading.

That being said, I'd get it for Virtual Console, but Nintendo has only really released Breath of Fire 2 from the SNES RPG arsenal. Ideally, I'll pick it up in cartridge, but I've yet to find it for less than about $70.

yes, the PS1 port has horrid lag times, very similar to FF4, 5, 6 and other SNES ports.

I was surprised square didn't make an advance version for the GBA. I think the FF4-FF6 advance games were excellent and fairly successful, yes? I think the little GBA just ran out of life. Porting it to the DS is not as easy as the touch screen adds a burden of remake. People generally don't want to buy a DS game that doesn't even use the lower screen and the stylus.

Virtual Console is very likely though. Or a PSP port possibly bundled with Chrono Cross (dare I say it).
