Hmm, I'm curious... to anyone who has the 1.1 patch: has the required time for the Zealot Push achievement been increased to go with the increased zealot build time? (Currently it's 5 zealots by 4:10.) If not, that's going to be much harder with an extra 25 seconds waiting for the zealots to build... and I'm glad I got around to getting that achievement yesterday.

So I had an amusing PvP match yesterday, which probably ruined my chances of being promoted to silver this week, but whatever: I slipped a pylon in his base, got three gates going, slipped 2 stalkers and a zealot in, before watching 2 void rays pass my scouting probe. I set the attack force to t-move and mess with his base, and proceeded to make 4 stalkers in my base, (didn't have enough gas for the last 2). Unfortunately, I warped miss-microed, and got them stuck on the wrong part of the base. I ended up losing my main, but set up two emergency nexii. He lost his nexus, probes and pylons, while my scout probe found his proxy starports. I probe rushed the pylons, destroying them.
After that, I tried to outrace him in destroying the buildings. Eventually he realized he could use his void rays to take out my ground forces (the stalkers took out 1 of the void rays, but he had sent two more right before the proxy ports had lost power), at which point I gg'd.

Anyways before the next patch I'm going to have to do some ultradrops. It seems like attacking the cc/nexus/hatch will kill all the miners. :D

They're hit if they try to repair it or stand very close to it. But then, that's only ever the case with terran and planetary fortresses, as no other race can repair, and the other variants can simply lift off.

If you did some simcity with your pylon and gateway to protect from zerlings for instance, they will take damage too.

So I cant patch the game - how does the siege tank nerf affect TvP? I assume that everyone is just going bio, instead of mech now, right?

I played a 2v2 where I targeted a nexus with ultras, and ontop of hitting the nexus, it hit four other buildings and killed all of the probes. replay. It was also a somewhat interesting game with nukes and nydus.
It's certainly ridiculous and going to be patched, but I wouldn't mind if it stayed in the game in some form just because ultras are so unwieldy when it comes to buildings, especially PFs. They'll bump around and get stuck if buildings are too close together. There's also a point in the replay where I couldn't kill a single probe scout with 4 ultras because of the attack animation bug, but of course that won't get fixed...

No, it's the same.

Won a good game, and then got proxy bunkered (Or whatever the toss equivalent is called).I find that ridiculously hard to stop. He had two bunkers up and able to attack me by the tme I was pushing out my first marine, and I wasn't hanging about. And thanks to the probe's shield it's tough to get rid of it before marines without ruining my early economy.

4 workers per cannon is the general rule. If they attack as soon as the cannon starts building, then it should die just as it's coming up. If you scout it out and the cannon is already halfway, send more. Also, make sure to shut down the probe as quickly as you can. Remember, every cannon they build is 3 less probes, and that's not even counting all the probes probably cut in order to start the forge quickly. Don't worry about the damage to your economy, they're probably taking worse

3 workers per cannon is enough if you catch it just as it is being put down.

Also, make sure you CHRONOBOOST OUT YOUR ZEALOT. I cant tell you how many games I have seen where the rushee keeps boosting probes. Its better of course to not get cannon rushed at all - scout your base before you drop your 9 pylon (or equivalent timing).

If you are zerg, just poop out a creep tumor with your first 25 energy.

I thought the ultra attack animation was a conscious decision, at least that's what it appears from what I have been reading bnet news lately.

Well, it can still be done (since I did it after the patch). Anyways, if you are waiting for 25 seconds, you are doing something very wrong. It should have been 15, not counting chronoboosts.

There are two reasons I don't play this game online. First, I suck. Second, all the jargon in this thread scares me.

I felt that way when I was reading about the Beta. After a few games though it all falls together.

Haha, I finally got to play against someone who sucked more than me. I've been watchign the Day9 Dailies and am finally getting the hang of when to expand and when to build etc. Was still testing it out, but the guy tried to Medivac/Marauder harass me, and I blew that up and only lost one refinery, so I figured now would be a good time to go on a push, before he could rebuild his losses. Come up against five Thors, which scared the shit out of me at first but got blown away by the fact he had little support for them while I had 50-odd marines/marauders, four siege tanks, two Medivacs and two Banshees. Then he gg's before I even destroy his expansion.

Game before that I still totally sucked against 'toss. Although I think I figured out how they were pushing zealots before I had any real marine presence, but still not sure how I stop that.

ALso: Zohar, you should totally play. I am pretty fucking awful at RTS' but there's enough here for it to still be fun when I'm losing. And the jargon's not too jargony, mostly just unit names shortened. Rax=barracks. Toss=Protoss. There's nothign I've come across that's confused me too much.

Always take like a 15 minute break after losing. If you jump right back in there, you're going to make a lot of stupid mistakes that will just fuel the losing fire.

Thors are terrible against MMM. First, if you just attack move them, they will go for the medevacs (I think). Second, they overkill marines so hard that their dps is actually really low. Third, cost for cost, stimmed marauders greatly out damage a thor.

Holy crap guys, I am bad. I lost all three games (Replays up tomorrow, when I do not feel like ass), and all three times were just situational things I should really have known better about. My inexperience with Zerg builds really showed through, and the fact that I literally just learned about half an hour ago how to deal with cloaked units.

I just OWNED a 1300+ diamond terran.

I poked around a bit with a zealot, saw he was going for a 3-rax push. I went mass zealot, got charge, got templars with storm, and then expanded. I saw him coming with the push via watchtower, so I canceled my expo and pulled my force away from the choke. He killed a few pylons, marched triumphantly up my choke, only to be met by a ton of charge zealots and a perfectly placed storm (and feedback on the medevacs)

He promptly ragequits.

Bwah, uploading trouble. Normally it goes like, refresh upload thingy and then you get the additonal information sheet, right? Well, now it just refreshes a couple of times and nothing happens.

Frustrating as it does upload other replays, but not those of Jesse and me. I'm suspecting Sc2replayed is a racist.

Anyway, going to try some more, and otherwise I'll find a different site that does work.

So, very recently, I learned the importance of actually making Ravens, instead of just Medivacs/Vikings/Banshees. Y'see, as an inexperienced player, I didn't really know what they did that would be helpful, but Dasboard suggested them, and then I saw them on a Day9 Daily, so in a TvZ game I decided to churn out a couple from my starport.

A short aside here, he harassed early with lings, and this is at a stage where I only had one marine out and I usually give up at that point, but since watching the Dailies I used my SCV's to kill the lings. Lost a few in the process, but I was soon churning them out. Finished walling off the ramp in time for his next harass and my marines saw them off. This was revelatory to me, the idea that my SCVs could see off the harass and I still wouldn't be too badly behind on economy. He came back with Banelings which mad eme shit myself and hurriedly rebuild everything.

Anyway, I felt I had decent army composition, some hellions, few banshees, two ravens, some medivacs, marine/marauder mix with 2 marines to every 1 marauder etc. Started to push out while expanding, and I would have been so boned without those ravens. He had burrowed banelings all along the path to his base which would have absolutely massacred my marauders/marines, but those Ravens were all "Hey guys, shoot here." and instead of losing, everything of his died and I rushed his base and he quit without gging.

I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of army composition, and it's showing in actual wins. I am decently happy about this (Even if I was the Favoured opponent, so the guy must have been bad to be worse than me).

I mismicro'd so badly just now. Didn't get an EMP off in time, and was caught in a terrible position. So I lost like my entire late-game army to psi-storms as I was pushing out. And the worst part was that I was the better player macro wise. I had a bigger army off two bases than he managed to scrounge out of three. He had like 4000 unspent minerals. ARRRGHHH!!
