In the Grimdark grim darkness of grimdark, there is only cake. And lies of when the cake will arrive.

Man, why do awesome games always manage to come out right *after* my birthday.

That irrelevant bit aside, I'm pretty excited that it's going to be coming out this year. Hopefully I'll have some scratch to be able to pick it up on release. I'd like to experience it pre-memeification this time, if at all possible. For the first game I'd heard months of memes on the internet based around Portal, so very little of the awesome stuff (like a certain dessert being a lie, the song at the end, etc) was new/as-exciting-and-or-hilarious as it would have been if I'd been able to pick the game up within, say, a week or so of release.
There's a method to my madness. Somewhere. Don't worry, I'll find it!

Considering Valve hasn't actually stated one, yeah. Both of those sites are just quoting the Gamestop/EBGames (apparently the same thing now) site's vague description and unconfirmed release date, based on who-knows-what information. And even if that is a real date, there's still Valve Time to contend with.

Because (based on known information), your birthday is in October, and publisher release the big guns in November (as it's just before Christmas).

I wouldn't trust anything Gamestop says for a release date. They just like to put a date on things as you're more likely to pre-order then. I would expect to see this around the holidays though.

All dates are given in Valve Time.

Could be worse. At least it's not in Duke Nukem Forever Time.

For the Emperor.

So, now that we've confirmed what a small child born in the last two months already knows - Portal was successful and they'll make another.... AND we've confirmed that, once again, IGN, Gamespot, and any gameseller in the pre-order business will just make shit up, I'mma go ahead and lock this thread. Take it to the Portal thread.
