Zelda:Twilight Princess

Postby TheTankengine » Tue Nov 21, 2006 2:58 pm UTC

Anybody else played yet? I am about 10 hours into it, and ohmigod is it incredible. Definitely one of the best games i've ever played.

The Wii controls def seem a little hacked on to the top of the game, certainly designed with the GC in mind, but they do add a slight bit of entertainment. Mainly the story is just kickass and the gameplay is actually rather complex.

Any thoughts?

If you are in the UK or AUS, haha! I've got a Wii! You have to wait hella long! That's why USA is teh best country, we get stuff first, 'cept for cell phones...

Though I do not know you, I can honestly say that I want you dead. I could not afford a Wii, so I am stuck waiting for my gimped copy of the game for the GameCube. Fuck you.

Since The Greates Game in the History of The Universe is, was and allways will be Super Metroid, I'll say LoZ:TP is a great game.

I can deal with that. Super metroid was rather super. I'll probably get it when comes to the Virtual Console.

Narsil, while I am dissapointed in the fact that someone I do not know wants me dead, its kind of cool in a way. I don't think you will be dissapointed at all in TP on the 'cube. From what I've heard anyway, it is just about the exact same game other than controls. It looks at least as good as RE4, so you will be doing alright. Although, you still have to wait for like 3 weeks, whereas I only have to wait another 2 hours to play...

Aww, I was just kidding. Didn't you see that I signed "Love" at the bottom? I won't kill you, maybe just a swift kick to the shin. However, if you enjoy the fact that you have a mortal enemy somewhere on earth, that's cool too, I understand. I didn't mean it like that. Do....do you need a hug?

87% now, but I still think TheTankengine is pretty awesome. I have only ever played part of Ocarina of Time, on other people's consoles.

Only complaint? Ground textures suck =p

Every other thing in the game is amazing.
Just so...good.

I am saddened, asmy simultaneous lack of food and money has caused me to sell my Gamecube, which means I cannot play Twilight Princess.

I will have to buy a Wii next year and get Zelda with it.

No, but one that requires me to discover people in my locale. This is harder than usual as I live in a coastal town, the home of retired people and drunken chavs. This is not a good place to find Wii-owning friends.

Dude, I love retired people! It's what I aspire to be someday!

I live in Silicon Valley where there are lots of people with Wiis. We should trade!

Some good response here!
I am saddened that there is only 1 other on here who has played Z:TP (evidenced by the fact that there are only 2 votes for greatest game ever).

Narsil: I meant exactly that it is awesome I have a mortal enemy out there, somewhere. It's like I could be out shopping for tomatoes and then somebody comes up to me and then everything stops and eery background music emanates from the surroundings and then I must defend myself from this unknown assailant in death-match-like circumstances... Anyways, its cool.

No-genius: The "I suck!" part means you suck, cuz you aren't cool enough to have Z:TP. Sorry, but c'est la vie.

hermaj: I think you're pretty awesome! If not better.

william: You go suck an egg, buddy. And I don't mean buddy as in friend. I mean it like Dane Cook means it, pal.

Jack Mac: Happy almost birthday!

Paul: Yep.

Myoumyouou: That is awesome.

Jesster: OUCH! I feel for ya, big guy.

OH! Update! I played for a couple hours last night. Let me just say that horseback-combat is so freaking sweet! And then you go into this total badass joust on a narrow bridge with a monster on a giant-armored-warthog! Oh me yarm!
And let me just say, sumo wrestling kicks ass!

Yay, I'm one of the few with a Wii! (Stood out in the below-freezing Canadian winter morning for 3 hours to get it  )

I think TP is a great game. It's fun to play, there's lots of content, and it looks pretty... but I just can't say greatest. Sorry.

I have a Wii too :D

Got it last Sunday. We got to the store at 6:00 AM and there were already 30 people in front of us (my brother and I). The thing is, we drove by the night before and no one was there. :? So we waited until 10:00 AM, when the store actually opens. We got #41 and #42 out of the 63 they had in stock. Anyways, enough of my random ramblings, onto the game.

TP is pretty fun, but I too can't exactly say it's the greatest. Somewhat because I play just a few games and because I'm very biased towards racing games. It's still probably one of my favorites though.

Can anyone who has the game give me some... uh... nudges in the right direction? I'm in the temple in the forest (the first one) and I can't rescue the last monkey. The one on top of the tree stump underground. I've tried everything I thought of and can't get the monkey.

Oh man, the monkeys were ridiculously hard to get. I was stuck for at least 2 hours getting all of them.

I don't specifically remember all of the rescues, I'll have to get back to you tonight.

Has anybody got to the third town covered in twilight? I am the Lake Hylia bridge and I can't get across. There are two boxes to get over the fire somehow, but I have no idea what to do with them. I'm so confused!

And walking on the walls/ceilings in the mines is total badass!! :D

EDIT:Wow, that was incredibly easy to get around. I think one reason why this game is so challenging is that I try to make it way more complicated than it needs to be.

You suck. I would have camped out for the Wii, but my paycheck was 4 days after the launch, and I haven't had a chance to get it since. I don't think I'll be able to get one to next year, so I think i might give up and get the gamecube version for now :(

Now that makes much more sense. :D

And I am very lucky I'm on co-op right now instead of classes. I would so fail all my classes this semester.

And another awesome reason to get a Wii:
Wii Sports Bowling

It kicks so much ass, i swear. I like the training games better than the full game though.

In one mode you have to hit a single pin, but there are obstacles in the lane. Its really cool. You have to aim it just right and use some crazy spin to get it down the lane. My favorite mode though, you get 10 bowls and after each try, one more row of pins is added and the lane gets wider. Thus the pin count goes 10, 15, 21, 28,...up to 91. I love watching 91 pins go flailing around at once. You get double the points for a strike. My high score is 554 pins!

I have it, 28 hours in, 5th dungeon down.

It's got a bit of all the cool stuff from all the older games. Like:

The main bad guy is (spoiler) from AoL. (edit: nope I was wrong not him...)
And it has a picture of (spoiler) from Oot.
Heck, a mini boss is (spoiler) from aLttP.

Good stuff.

The items are crazy.
Like the: (Highlight)
Battle Top
or the Ball and chain

It really is insane.

Now I'm on my way to the fifth dungeon right now. I'm at 32 hours. I did tons of side quests. I backtracked to everywhere I had been as soon as I got a new item. Enough backtracking that I now have 3 double size bomb bags, 12 hearts, 20 magic bugs, 27 Poes, and the magic armor (which was actually quite a let down considering it costed 1798 rupees total) (I thought those might be spoilers for the people who haven't gotten that far.)

So far, I think the coolest item I've gotten is the battle top. It's the newest item I got. I've been trying it out on random walls in the game, hoping it works :D

I just beat the game!
39 hours
18 Hearts
Actually the last boss is kinda easy...

The 6th dungeon item is the best in my opinion.

And Now that I'm done, I think OoT is better, possibly because it feels more epic even though TP is way bigger in scale.

Congratulations!

My save says I've been playing for about 50 hours.

But that's probably because I left it on for a day and a half without touching it...

Ya, i'd say im about 18-20 hours in (guess, though). I just filled the third vessel of tears, so i'm about to get the third fused armor.

I can't wait to get my component cables. I've heard they really increase the quality of the graphics dramatically. I really need that, as we just setup the HD projector and a 92" widescreen. So, the graphics look especially shitty for now...
