aequilibrium (android game) [updated again]

Postby anselm_eickhoff » Mon Dec 13, 2010 5:10 pm UTC

Hi guys!
I'm a 17-year old dude from Germany.
I've been following xkcd and the forums for quite a while, but now is the time I want to participate actively.

This is my first published game for android and I thought you guys might like it.
(I also have a much bigger android game project but that will take a while)

aequilibrium

with up to 3 friends, you

  • balance a ball
  • tap the stroked corners to get points
  • try to get as many points as possible (before the time runs out)

(or search for "aequilibrium")

Thanks and let me know what you think!

ST here. The poster made this, read the rules, realized the mistake and sent me a PM about it. So what the hell, I'll allow it.

I tried it out on my Droid X.

1) The instructions could be a little clearer (or I'm just incredibly dense). I was a little confused by "tap your phone's edges like crazy." For some reason I took that to mean the physical edge, not the little arcs that appear in the corner, even though I figured out tapping the corner is what started each round. It didn't occur to me to keep tapping on it as it moved around. Like I said, I could just be dense.

But, more importantly the graphic for the ball doesn't even remotely look right on my phone. Part of it is getting cut off. Looks like it's being shoved into a square-shaped space or frame or something and that's cutting off the bottom right of the ball graphic. If it weren't on my phone, I'd take a picture to better show the problem.

Besides that, it looks nice and seems to work well.

thanks pseudoidiot!

Well clearer and more complete instructions are included with the game (the dialog that appears at the start).

Good I let you people try this - I only tested it on the hero!
I think I know what is happening to the ball but if you could make me a screenshot that would be awesome (I think there are apps for that).

Thanks again for testing and I really recommend playing it with friends!

Edit: Can you please update (via market) and look if the ball issue is fixed? I did something that might fix it.
Also I made the instructions clearer (hopefully)

Great!

Did you play it alone or with friends?
Because if you did the former I really urge you to do the latter!

Also, what is your highscore?

A highscore board would be awesome. I haven't tried playing it with other people yet but it's pretty cool single player.

Thanks, Awia!

Highscore will definetly come, as I said in the more or less official thread on xda-developers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910607

This game made me way too angry. Other than that, it's nice.

Is it possible to set the phone on a calibrated-as-level surface and always win? Perhaps the ball should get a tiny nudge in a random direction when you start if you don't already do something like that.

It does that already, it was the first thing I tested.

it shouldn't do that as I didn't implement it, but it's a good idea (I love when software fixes itself) :)

thanks for playing, what made you so angry Korrente?
