Ugh. Personally, I can't stand Robert Downey Jr as an actor, in general. And the preview didn't really endear him to me any further. I think I will be skipping this movie

well, he's playing a drunk. He'll hardly be acting.

Plus, Samuel L. Jackson's gonna be Nick Fury.
you know, like in the ultimates.

from what I've heard, the armor progresses from Clunky original --> Red/Gold classic --> Hulkbuster-style heavy Weapons suit.

I think that's what they call a Win/Win.

At comic con they announced at least three, and there will probably be small changes in each of those suits as time goes by.

This trailer was ridiculous, inane, overacted, and implausible, with weak middle eastern plot ties, and overabundant sex and violence to capture the attention of your average American.

I will be first in line.

I avoid watching trailers from movies I'm remotely interested in watching, that way it's entirely fresh and new. I did this for the Superman Returns movie, for Batman Begins, all the X-men movies, all 3 Spiderman films, LOTR etc.

Why did I watch this trailer!? Now I can't wait to see this. It better be good, damn it.
On a side note, a really pretty girl told me I have Robert Downey Jr. eyes. I don't... quite... know how to take that...

There's a new one, with... is that the Crimson Dynamo? I'm not so up to scratch on my Iron man history.

Still haven't properly seen him use a Repulsor blast.

Or neural scramblers.

I guess it's a bit much to ask though.

A new new one? I didn't see Crimson Dynamo... gonna go search...
EDIT: Only found the one I've seen. Waiting for it to load... I remember War Machine being in there (I assume), dunno about Crimson Dynamo.
EDIT 2: There's a villain-type who could easily be Crimson Dynamo, but he's probably just a Mandarin Minion. Still waiting for it to load...
EDIT III: Oh, that. I'm betting on Ultimo or Titanium Man, seeing as how it's not crimson.

I think i'll end up going to see this film, but I'm not so sure how good a film it will be (whilst it can't be as bad as the theatrical release of Daredevil) but I am biased as I don't like Iron Man.

I personally prefer superheroes with innate or incorporated superpowers, not ones that have to rely on a device or magic ring.

I kinda like Iron Man because he's my kind of superhero - specifically, an engineer superhero. He's actually a better character (in my eyes) because he has no innate powers, and does all this hero stuff anyway, using only his own ingenuity.

For similar reasons, Batman > Superman, but that's probably a discussion for another thread.

I like Iron Man similarly, and because he didn't have to save people. He didn't even have to try and rule the world or run from the law like other people with superpowers. He did it because he felt like he should.

I saw the trailer with my girlfriend a few hours ago, and found at absolutely hilarious. First, before I knew it was Ironman, we laughed at the irony of Mr. Only Fires Once being carbombed. Then, there was the whole "Build me das ueberbomb" bit, and I was like, "So, not only is he an arms dealer but he will work for anyone who tells him to." Is was then that the song started playing, and I immediately remembered seeing this thread. I could not stop laughing until the next trailer was halfway finished. The fact that he could fly was pure icing.

I love IronMan as well, although I prefer him in an Avengers style setting. I find his politics very interesting, and the whole ex-drunk thing he's going through. Really though, he's got loads of different suits (Which make for great visuals) and I enjoy watching him get knocked about.

I'm assuming Crimson Dynamo is main villain from this Trailer.

I think the Mk1, 2 and 3 models are the only ones that will be featured in the movie. There's also rumors that it will allow for a War Machine movie and/or character in the future.

I like Iron Man as a character, but his current comic series hasn't done much for me. Captain America is currently a better Iron Man book. Also, Mighty Avengers.

Dude. There was totally a reference to War Machine in that trailer. (I'm assuming the black guy is Jim Rhodes, (i.e. War Machine) since i can't think of any other African-American characters in Iron Man)

And... I thought I heard the Mandarin is the main villain officially, but I'm not sure I really did.

Wow, Mandarin would be AWESOME, but I always thought he was more of a Dr Strange villain, isn't he? He looks, acts and talks like one (Side-note: Alan Rickman as Baron Mordo=AWESOME. someone make Dr Strange he movie, NOW... c'mooon, you did Ghost Rider, Ghost Rider for god's sake!)

Second, well, yeah, it was Rhodes, but... Where's the suit? I love that suit, it's so hardcore!

The thing about Comics is they often try to pair up dissimilar heroes/villains. That is, the Science Hero fights the Magic Villain, and vice versa.. probably so the villain can, at some point, shout out "Your puny science/magic is no match for my mighty magic/science! Fear me!" or something similar..

But.. yeah, The Mandarin is one of Iron Man's foes.

Isn't the Mandarin an Iron Man foe that was involved in the origin story? and isn't that why he's in the movie?

Nope. I'm pretty sure Iron Man's origin story just had him fighting generic Vietnamese (which gets retconned every so often to a more modern war - now Afghanistan). Mandarin didn't pop up for another 11 issues.

Mandarin = Iron Man villain.
He was not involved with Iron Man's origin story (Movies and re-tellings tend to interweave heroes' origins with their arch-enemies (which really annoys me for some reason), while usually the villains showed up later and weren't very intertwined with the heroes.)
Also, dunno about how correct the mismatching villains thing is, but whatever.

Tony Stark is a fantastic hero. If you have sentiments for batman, you ought to be able to have some sentiments for Iron Man.

He was also, as far as I know, the first super hero with a 'everyman' problem (alcoholism) instead of a 'my family was wiped out by mobsters and i dedicated my life to fighting crime' problem, or a 'i was a mutant and was abandoned by my family who scarred me for life'.

Also, he is resourceful, snarky, reclusive, and narcissistic. Most of us should related to at least two of those.

I respect the man who uses his mind to solve what his body cannot.

And sam jackson IS nick fury. Theres no acting involved.

Awesome as Ultimate Nick is, you can't disregard the original, I humbly submit that maybe... just maybe... Nick Fury is Nick Fury?

Anywho, what about Daredevil? His awkwardness around Karen and overwhelming good intentions made him sit by, pining for her while Foggy swept her away, That strikes me as quite everyman.

Well, yeah, literally. In that they called him up around the time ultimates started and said "Can we pretty much just model Nick Fury on you? Pretty much just write you into the comic and change your name?" and Sam was like "Fuck. Yes."
