Someone already mentioned Sousuke Sagara, but I'll second that. He epitomizes, "All problems can be solved by judicious application of explosives."
I would have enjoyed that show so much more if the writers hadn't made Kaname so senselessly bitchy - she's better than that, I know it!

I also have love for Reno and Rude from FF7...yes, I'm another one of those fangirls.

Lilo, definite yes, but Nani is pretty awesome too (and hot. Really hot. So is David.)

With Bebop, Champloo, and Trigun, I love most of the characters in the ensembles, so I'm just going to group them all together.

^ Is either young, or old.

Probably older, since Bender was mentioned.
Or something to that effect. Hell, I don't know.

Really good ones are (in my opinion):
Patrick (Spongebob)
Bender
Yang (Yin Yang Yo!)
Cosmo (Fairly Odd Parents)

And many, many more...

Right now I'm deciding between Hei (Darker than Block) and Fai/Fay (Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicle)

Hei is just awesome, and has my personal favorite weapon of choice. (Knife connected by wire)
Fay is a cool character too though. Hes a happy-go-lucky seeming stepford smiler, who has a horrendously traumatic past. Also: magic done well (although sparingly)

I pick both, sorry =D.

I am also going to go with Hei from Darker Than Black. But only the first season. Drunkard hobo non-electricity batman is lame. As for number two I'd either say Rock of Black Lagoon, or the infamous Spike of Cowboy Bebop.

My all time favorite: Gendo Ikari (from Neon Genesis Evangelion).

My favorite characters are almost never main characters; for example:
- Bruce from Family Guy
- The Scotsman from Samurai Jack (although Aku is pretty funny too)
- Yuki Nagato from Haruhi Suzumiya
- Tsukasa Hiiragi from Lucky Star
- ...

Seriously? Why? None of the characters in NGE is particularly nice or relateable (except possibly Misato), but Gendo? Care to explain? Not that it's wrong of you to think this way, I just wonder why.

First of all, because he's one tragic, misunderstood and really human character.

He's mostly misunderstood as being a cold, bad person, but actually everything he does is devoted to his wife. Because his focus on his hidden agenda, he sometimes makes bad decisions, and he might seem cold, but actually deep inside he's the most romantic motivated character of the series.

He tries to keep his private life and his professional life completely separated (by acting as distand and as cool as possible), but fails epically because of his hidden agenda (see previous point).
I love how he lives for his work, how he lives for science, and how doesn't try to be mister popular.

And because he makes mistakes, and because he can look like a complete asshole from time to time, he looks really human to me. (I can relate to that.)

And secondly, because I'm vein: he looks exactly like me, physically that is. (At the moment I'm clean shaven, but half of the time I've got the same beard.)

If Caboose from RvB doesn't count, then I'm gonna have to go with the cheat from homestarrunner.

Guu. I'm not a particular fan of anime, so that's saying a lot.

Also, Shere Khan and Kaa the snake from Disney's Jungle Book. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T0I5UepXMA
"Ooooh, my sssssssacroiliac!" Actually, all the animals in Jungle Book were fantastic. I know it's fashionable to hate the Mouse nowadays, but they made a snake look like it put a hand to its mouth and crossed its legs.
