Maybe she ran so fast Hiro forgot he couldn't time travel?

Um, you do remember that they got back to their own present-day by swinging around a star the other way, right?

Apparently it results in extreme moral ambiguity in nearby main characters. Who knew?

*edit* And now, thoughts on the premier

Well there it is. So far, I'm intruiged. Seems like they've got some good plot hooks going. Mildly dissapointed with the continued relegation of Hiro to comedic relief but what can you do? Wreird carnival man is a little odd, seemed like they were going for telekensis in the opening scene but then switched to his weird tattoo power thing later on?

Also not thrilled about the situation with Claire. Little too Veronica Mars for my liking.

I'm still out on the Matt/Nathan/Sylar thing.

I thought the premiere was pretty OK. Seems they're going to try and simplify the plot a little more, make it more visceral and emotional than mind-bendingly complex. I like the direction they're taking with Matt and Sylar. Petrellis are getting old, falling into the same roles they always play. Claire was always annoying, and will still be annoying. I like what they're doing with Noah. Hopefully, he'll find a power this year (fingers crossed). The Hiro plotline is sgrasping for straws at this point. It's s a sudden and annoying break in his entire philosophy and backstory, this whole "changing little things." It's the writers still trying to come to terms with the fact that they created an unbeatable character. I like the new villain a lot. He was great in Prison Break, and I hope they dont screw up his role.

The one thing that kept pissing me off to no end was the constant and incessant product placement. They tried to make in look natural and part of the story, but seriously, who are they kidding? Aside from the weird sprint "Lydia's story" thing, the whole guitar hero thing seemed fake and forced. Claire says something about facebook or something, and it just comes off as awkward. They started this last year with Dell, and I don't like like how much they're doing it this season.

So.
Missed the first ten minutes of it last night.

Guy controls ink?
That one woman just sits there with her tits hangin' out?
Why does speed-guy not get the same 'animation' as Daphne?
Speaking of Daphne, why did Matt drop her like a rock? He knew he had a son before... All of the sudden... wut?

And the whole mindfuckery with Matt was making me facepalm for his idiocy and cheering for Sylar's awesomeness.

Wasn't a bad episode.

Daphne's dead.

Speed guy is awesome, because he's Ray Park. That's all that matters. When you're Darth Maul, you get whatever damn animation you please.

Ink guy may also control earth, which seems like a weird mix of powers.

Is anyone else really happy with Peter this season? He's actually thinking and planning regarding the use of powers. "(Hmm, speed....that sounds handy.) SURE I'll help you! (Until I get my hands on that power, anyway)...."

That reminds me, it seems like that guy has two completely unrelated powers. The tattoing guy was the same one that covered up the grave at the beginning of the episode, right?

As for the girl, I think her power has something to do with knowing who the people are that appear with the ink. But I'm not real sure if he just sticks the ink in and she does the work of knowing who's important and who they are or if the face comes from the guy.

I see that falling asleep halfway through didn't interfere with Heroes attempting to suck for an amazing fifth season.

Oh.
And yea, remember the formula we all talk about? The more powerful you are, the dumber. Peter isn't ALL powerful, therefore he actually thinks.

Yeah, I'm definitely liking Peter a lot more than I have in the past. Plus his acting skills seem to have improved between seasons.

Also, I'm thinking Gretchen may turn out to have a power. During the Guitar Hero scene didn't she say something about "it seeming to get easier" or otherwise getting better as she played? Maybe I misheard.

Like most of the show, I continue to be annoyed by Hiro and Ando. Some of their antics are kind of entertaining and it always starts out being so tangential to everything else that's going on. I'm sure they'll eventually do something that connects them with everything else, though. And I really hated the whole "I can't do anything to change the past blah blah butterfly effect... OH! it'll totally be okay to fix my past mistakes." What the hell, dude?

No, you heard right. And I think she does too.
But that could just be normal learning. But this is HEROES.

And the ink guy was very... charismatic with Hiro.

The big, long, slow panning shot past his desk, where the unmistakable book cover was filling the screen for several seconds?

Also, I seem to notice junk like that way more than other people when there's nothing interesting happening in the show itself to keep me occupied.

Yay Heroeswiki.

Samuel Sullivan (Ink guy): Terrakenesis. Ability to move geologic materials like dirt and rocks.
Maybe he has some special ink formula o_O

@Jalapeno: Several? I was paying attention to his facial features or the loud ticking (and yet digital) clock.

I guess several seconds. If you were paying attention to a ticking clock, there must have been enough ticks to get through 3+ seconds (which two ticks would be the minumum).

Did anyone notice during one of the Nathan-moody-I-have-powers scenes where he's walking into his office and for a split second he has Sylar's face? I love when writers do stuff like that!

out of boredom, I'm trying the math question.

I've already solved for x, but A proves to have 2 solutions, which means that w, y, and z had 2 solutions. But hey, what do you know, it did take 45 minutes! (well, while watching Heroes that is)

Equations:

x + 2y + 3w + 4z = 10
2x - Y + w - z = 1
3x + y + Aw + 3z = 11
-zx + 6y + Aw + 7Az = 10

Answers:
Spoiler:
x = .5
A = -8.3, 39.155
w = .85, .22
z = .625, 2.2
y = 2.225, 4.42

edit: must be an easy honors program

^I dont think your math is right... for example.
.5 + (.625 * 2) + (3 * .85) + (4 * 2.225) = 13.2 not equal to 10

oops, I swapped z with y when typing :oops: editing now.

.5 + (2.225*2) + (3*.85) + (4*.625) = 10
.5 + (4.42*2) + (3*2.2) + (4*.22) = ... 16.82...

well, one of my answers was correct.

before you do you might wanna rewatch that part of the episode. you got the teachers 4s confused with As. there are none.

here is the problem as I saw it. it actually makes the class easier.

x + 2y + 3w + 4z = 10
2x - y + w - z = 1
3x + y + 4w + 3z = 11
-2x + 6y + 4w + 10z = 18

anyways i thought the episode itself was whatever. i opted to watch house and watched this online a few hours ago. i want micah back. i think peter was somewhat smart in the episode but having mohinders power is more explainable to people who might question how he got someplace quickly.

Honestly, some characters DO need to be abolished.

You I think in retrospect the most annoying thing in the whole episode wasn't anything power related, but was Noah and that fucking compass.

Alright so a guy you don't like has a McGuffin. A very deadly superpowered guy wants that McGuffin. You have no idea what the McGuffin is, and after finding it, have no idea what it does or why it's valuable. Yet you continue to risk your life to protect the McGuffin for no other reason than the fact that someone who is willing to kill you to get it wants it. And after the guy inevitably mortally wounds you to get his McGuffin that you've decided to try to keep from him for no discernable reason, your response is "He took the McGuffin!" Why do you CARE?!

Somewhere on that path you crossed the line betweeen curiousity and death wish.

That really was stretching the bounds of believability, I'll admit. But then again, this is Heroes; that's what they do. Plot holes, idiot balls, and retcons galore!

On the plus side, this episode had bleedin' T-Bag in it! FUCK YEAH! :mrgreen:

Didn't seem like much of a stretch. If some guy is running around stabbing innocent bystanders, it's a fair bet that he's one of the bad guys. If he's so desperate to get his hands on the McGuffin, it's a fair bet that he wants it for some Evil Nefarious Plan. HRG being in the business of stopping Evil Nefarious Plans, it stands to reason that he'd want to hang on to the McGuffin and try to figure out what the fuss is all about.
