What are you watching?

Postby Zohar » Thu Nov 29, 2007 10:26 am UTC

Looked it up and there doesn't seem to be a similar thread. Kind of like the "what are you reading right now" thread in books. What series are you in the middle of? What movies did you watch yesterday? Instead of having a 3-message thread for every single thing you see, I thought this might be a good idea.

TV series I'm watching:
Battlestar Galactica - going to see the 2nd season final today
Heroes, American Dad, Simpsons, Family Guy - up to date with the US
House - A few more episodes until the end of season 3.
Veronica Mars - Basically everything. I started watching the beginning of season 3, stopped, started from season 1 and no I need to keep going.

The Lost Room - Almost done, only 1.5 hours left which will be finished today. Will post my thoughts later.

Movies from the past week:
Metropolis (1927) on last Saturday. Wasn't very good... I can understand the impact it had at the time but the movie is very infantile, in today's standards (which aren't very fair). It's almost like a fairy tale of a sci-fi movie.
Michael Clayton - Thought it was nicely done, not spectacular
Reservation Road - I thought it was very well done. I liked it.

Gargoyles, mostly, and lots of random stuff from Adult Swim.

Finished The Lost Room. I thought it was interesting, not divine as some of my friends put it... It was annoying how they made detailed rules of how their world is supposed to work and then didn't bother to make sure to keep all the rules. Also, the ending (and the choice that's made there) were kind of disappointing, in how little thought went into the decision. It's definitely worth seeing if it's on TV, though.

Is that the show with Peter Krause?

I'm catching up on series 2 of Heroes, presently stuck on episode 8 as I can't find a streamable version, strangely enough.

I spent last night watching the first four episodes of Nip/Tuck series 5, so far I'm not entirely impressed but it's totally watchable nonetheless.

During the week I saw The Darjeeling Ltd and August Rush, both of which I loveloveloved.

Yeah, it's the one with Peter Krause. I adore Six Feet Under. It's such an amazing show... I would say it's too bad it's over, but then I don't think it should've been lengthened.

Oh, I forgot, I also watch Bleach (up to date with Japan). It's not as good as it used to be but I still enjoy it.

You watch a lot of shows at once. Doesn't it get noisy?

Currently (and I mean at this moment) watching Normal Rockwell Is Bleeding.

My weekly schedule looks something like this:

Monday: Heroes
Tuesday: House (no House in December D: )
Wednesday: Pushing Daisies, South Park (technically it doesn't count but Zero Punctuation with Yahtzee, too)
Thursday: nothing
Friday: Garth Marenghi's Darkplace on Cartoon Network (I've seen it before, but it's still brilliant)
Sunday: Family Guy, American Dad, Dexter off of teh intarwebz because that's the only thing I watch on Showtime.

I've seen all of Bleach and Naruto (on streaming episodes of Japanese TV) up to about two months ago, then I just kind of lost track of it. One of these days I'll go back and watch all those episodes.

Other, random stuff... Abridged Yu-Gi-Oh, thinking about digging up some more TV shows I never saw to watch during downtime.

Series I'm watching as they progress:
-Heroes
-Grey's Anatomy
-Private Practice
-Aliens in America (which, by the way, is awesome for a half-hour sitcom)
-Scrubs
-Gossip Girl (guilty pleasure... it's soooo much fun)

Luckily those are all online, so I just watch them when I'm free. I've only turned on my TV, like, twice this semester.

Series I'd like to/am trying to watch:
-Friday Night Lights
-The Office
-Firefly
-Arrested Development
-Dawson's Creek (yes, really! I love crappy WB shows!)

Series I've finished recently:
-Gilmore Girls
-Everwood
-Friends

The only show I have watched consistantly since college has been House because a new episode is an event for my group of friends.

When bored, I turn on ESPN. Around the Horn and PTI are good shows.

If I am alone in my dorm and the time is 11 PM or after, I will watch a little Adult Swim.

I follow Avatar (online, since the school cable doesn't have Nickelodean) and Zero Punctuation (not a TV show, but I am a devoted fan) too.
John Travolta can dance, but I can light the dance floor on fire.

So uh, yeah. The most recent film I saw was August Rush. I liked it.

Shows I'm watching online:
Heroes, House, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives.
(also: Lost, when it's airing. What can I say, it's my "haha this is so silly!" show. And I love crying Jack. He is never not-funny.)

Shows I'm watching on actual television:
The Panel, Top Gear, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, QI, Prison Break, America's Next Top Model (it's a very guilty pleasure)

Shows I really want to get into:
Dexter.

I did that too, my friend was mortified. Really it was a ridiculous film and I should have hated how schmaltzy it was but I just loved it, except for the Fagin/Robin Williams character.

Currently Watching - Old Cheers episodes on Justin.tv

Diane is strangling Sam with a telephone cord...god I loved this show.

So sad seeing coach in the early episodes knowing he dies just before the end of season 3.
