Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Postby davej » Wed Dec 05, 2007 7:28 pm UTC

Discuss.
I think it is quite funny, maybe one of the funnest sitcoms to watch on TV. I think the humor is much better then that seen in Scrubs and The Office.

What is your opinion?

I only saw it once, and my dad tried to convince me it was funny. Here is a quote from the episode (I didn't like it).

"You know [name that i have forgotten] the cream always rises to the top. And you are about to feel the hot cream of an 11 year old boy." Or something similar to that (the episode where they host a dance competition)

But oh well, maybe I will be the only one here who didn't like it. :P

Saying it's better than the Office should be a bannable offense, but it's a damn funny show. I thought the bit where Dee was trying to save the kittens from fires but ended up throwing the box every time was particularly good.

I've seen the first season, and I thought it was great. Not the most fast-paced comedy show, the jokes take a little more time to appreciate than The Office. Well, the US Office (I've only seen the UK Office once) anyway.

The first season was hilarious, but the show jumped the shark with the addition of Danny Devito to the cast.

I really like this show, I think it's got a lot of the kind of humour that you normally only see in animated shows like Family Guy, in that the main characters are complete b*stards and the situations often get exagerated to ridiculous lengths. Like in the episode 'Dennis and Dee go on welfare' when they end up addicted to crack, that episode also has one of the best cold-opens.

It's probably the closest American equivalent to a brilliant British comedy series called Peep Show, which has a similar combination of cringe humour, evil humour and deadpan wit.

It is a bit hit or miss but it just has truly awesome moments that focus on how all the characters are jerks. The episode where they have to do community service and have to get kids to play basketball is just fantastic, especially when they try to separate the kids into teams.

I reeeeeally like this show, after Mike (CHeMnISTe BOY) got me into it. The characters are so cruel it's hilarious. I also like how they just twist typical sitcom situations into something really skewed. The dance competition and clothes designer episodes are great.
i dare you to take me on...

This show is incredible. Between this, The Office, Scrubs, and being a day off of work, I always looked forward to Thursdays. Not every episode is perfect, but even the slow ones usually have some awesome moments that make me love the series so much. The basketball game at the end of the community service episode had me laughing harder than almost anything else I've ever seen on television. I'm really looking forward to a fourth season.

I've seen a few episodes. I always got the impression that I should laugh at it, but I don't. It seems like a perfect example of something I would enjoy, but I never do for some reason.

Why not just call the show, It's Always Sunny, or It's Always Sunny Somewheres, orrrr It's Always Sunny Some Crap Place!... Jus sayin...

I've been watching the new season (4) and honestly it has been so-so so far.

I was a big fan of the first season, but I agree that it's kind of hit or miss. Though I always enjoy an episode even if it's not one of the better ones. I love it because it's cast of degenerates make it completely unique from other shows, and would never be allowed on network TV. God bless cable.

I just started watching it, at the insistence of some of my friends. I'm still only on the first season, but it's definitely one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time. No clue how this one managed to slip past me for so long.

It has some great episodes, some that just fail. But it's definitely worth following imo.

I just love shows that make you cringe with displaced shame intentionally. Taking jokes and stereotypes too far ftw!

Yeah the musical was pretty epic, though i don't think it was better than "who pooped the bed?" and they haven't even come close to beating out "Dennis and Dee go on Welfare" in terms of horrible wrongness in an episode. I was surprised that everyone was such good singers.

By the by, the series is up on Hulu so you don't have to wait for the DVD.

I was actually talking about this show with a friend today, and he described it as "Seinfeld with nihilism". Which probably explains why I like it so much, even though I've only seen a few episodes.

I was surprised to see that they're on their third season.

Just when I think they can't be any more horrible than they already are, they go and top themselves by kidnapping two men.

And their cats.

I never knew I could be so entertained by a group of gigantic assholes, but there you have it.

That isn't the worst kidnapping they have done in the fourth season. You'll absolutely love the Extreme Makeover episode.

yeah that was not their fault really. I can't think of a sing episode where they kill anyone. Frank shoots a McPoyle in one episode... that is all i can think of.

I think it was one of the Vietnamese gamblers that always hung out with Frank. During the episode "Charlie Goes America All Over Everyone's A**", Frank is presiding over a game of Russian roulette at the very end. You hear a gunshot and then a thud, followed by, "Call the police."

It's a fucking hilarious show, and even though the 3rd season was lacking compared to the 1st and 2nd, the 4th is right up there. It's in no way funnier than the Office, but it's probably in the top 5 or 10 tv shows of today (that are still running new seasons)
