Humoristic pictures from various TV shows

Postby Zohar » Sun Mar 30, 2008 9:51 am UTC

We're trying to make a collage of pictures related to our favorite TV shows. The regular dramatic pics can be found fairly easily through Google. However, we want to also include more light or funny pics for which Google doesn't seem to be the best source.

So I'm wondering if maybe the fora members can help me - any places you think you might go to search such things? We're talking parodies, comical shots, comic strips etc.
TV shows we're interested in are mostly geeky stuff:
Battlestar Galactica
Star Trek and its various incarnations
The Simpsons
Cowboy Bebop
Babylon 5
Futurama
Lost

I'll add more when I think of them.

You fail by not thinking of Firefly.

QI, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, A Bit Of Fry And Laurie.

I have thought of Firefly and an image has already been added. Also, it's true we are lacking in the Brittish comedies section...

However, no one knows where I could find something like this? Maybe some of the people who only read during the workweek will give me an answer today.

Mostly because there are plenty of great faces that House makes, and Heroes might have some interesting moments involving power using.

OK, you just fail outright. I'm sorry to break it to you like this. Do you even know what Red Dwarf is?

No, I dont, and after finding that I have about 5 sci-fi series that I haven't seen that people have told me I need to get into (including Stargate and Firefly), I have given up on remembering to watch them.

(BTW, why the Heroes/House hate?)

Because, for as horrible as the sets and special effects were (relatively speaking), Red Dwarf is a far superior show.

Of course, it's a comedy, so the percentage of comedic images should be higher... though I still don't know what the OP is looking for exactly.

Neither do I. :) As I said, we want to wallpaper a wall with cool/funny pictures from TV shows. Some that got into the mix are the BSG Last Supper and Simpsons characters, some comics related specifically to TV shows we watch etc.

And just for the record, I've watched some Red Dwarf and didn't find it that funny. Please insult my intelligence now and saw I'm not articulate to understand fine Brittish humor while assuming I've never enjoyed anything coming out of the UK.

Also, you can (rightfully) ridicule my misuse of "Great Brittain", "United Kingdom", "England" etc.. Wasn't it SecondTalon who posted a Venn diagram of the various name? Need to search for it.

Red Dwarf was great until they got the crew back.

I don't hate either of those shows, or Firefly. But I never get bored of watching Red Dwarf.

If you don't get it, thats fine. But if you only saw stuff from series 8 or 7, you might wanna try some of the earlier series. Of course, some people think that the changes in series 3 were a mistake.

Eh. I liked it, although I guess I like the earlier series more. Holly is the funniest character. (Who is your favourite Holly? I think I prefer Norman Lovett.)

See the house vs Cox thread for that Hate.

And I hate heroes cos you can just see the marketing meeting that went into creating it:

Spoiler:
"so whats an Audience we haven't Tapped then?"
"Yeah we've cleary got the idiot audience covered with the 'simple life' and 'American Idol'"
"What about the geeks?"
"I dunno; what do they like?"
"Comic books"
"yeah my nephew loves the X-men"
"what else is big? we need to get other audiences into this"
"Lost is really big"
"so we take the long meandering plot style of lost, following one character per episode but give the characters latent super-powers and lose the fat guy?"
"sounds like a plan to me"
"Hell it'll be 10 weeks before we really even start having to come up with a real plot!"

Yeah I didn't like Lost or Heroes.

I actually refused to watch Red Dwarf after the restoration of the crew. So I haven't actually seen that last series...

Is was better in a "yay, new Red Dwarf!" sense than in the "this is actually good" sense. But it was OK.
