Titan A.E.

I just got done watching Titan A.E. last night for the first time since it came out, and it had a much greater impact on me.

Animation- 10
The correlation of 3d backrounds and hand-drawn (style, at least) animation was impressive. The use of free moving cameras is honestly the best I've ever seen in an animated film.

Visuals- 9.5
The visuals on this film were outstanding I consider my self to be quite knowledgeable about graphics (it's my future career) and this film blew my mind, even if it had just comeout yesterday, let alone being 9 years old. The use of ships was near photo-realistic, and the lack of cel-shading and lining made them look like animated Matte Paintings

Writing-9
I was watching through the opening credits when, Oh me yarm, Joss Whedon scrolled onto the screen. Even if I hadn't seen his name, there were defintly very Jossy parts to the film. I think I can defintly hear Jane or Mal uttering a few of the lines, and it got me to wondering if maybe this was where Firefly was first starting to hatch in his head.

Overall-9
This film is one of the most B.A. Films I've seen in a while, and the fact that it's a cartoon undeniably does not mean made for kids in this instance.

(p.s. "PLanet Bob" hahaha  .)

I'm sorry to break it to you but that was a spambot. I watched the film ages ago but I do recall enjoying it very much. I was unaware of the Whedon connection, interesting.

Your local library should have a copy of it as well.

Spam Bot......?
You'll have to forgive me, but this is my first forum. WTF are Spambots good for?

Dun worry, I'm sure one of the mods'll be along to clean it up shortly ;)

Man, I haven't seen Titan A.E. in forever. Might have to dig me up a copy and watch it again. I loved the imagery of the shattered moon.

Yes, it was quite the decent film, it was.

I think the let down was that it was quite obvious that
Spoiler:
betrayal was to be had, and who it would be by.
But that didn't stop me enjoying it. The witty dialogue and Oh me yarm non-American human characters(!), even if minor ones, made it somewhat original.

I gave it 8*.

Loved it the first time due to the technology, but the second time on VHS it didn't have quite the same impact. Still, I was pretty young...

Now that I know good Sci-Fi when I see it I'll watch it again despite the above spoiler ruining some of the appeal. I can forgive this film for introducing Creed's "Higher" to the world.

Just saw this on cable again a few days ago. Remembered not really getting the plot that well but thinking "Man, this is so cool! More people should watch this" when I was a kid.

This movie must've been WAY ahead of the curve, because the first thing that came to mind when I saw it this time was
Spoiler:
"This is like a cross between Treasure Planet and Battlestar Galactica." Note that Titan A.E. came out at least two years before either of them.

lol

I need to torrent this film and rewatch it. I saw it as a kid, and then later read the novelization when I was in bed sick for a day.

Got a free dvd copy of this movie when I purchased Xmen 2 at my local K-mart as part of a special that the store was having. Didn't watch the movie for a while, the synopsis didn't really sound to interesting, but when I did I loved it! I found the story so interesting and the visual were great and I still watch it every now and again.

A little bit too predictable and a few grossly oversimplied scenes (Oh me yarm a kid with a soccer ball on a colony! I have an immediate and complete change of heart from a cynic to an optimist!) but great animation, characters, and soundtrack.

Treasure Planet<Titan A.E.

Treasure Planet was like Disney's 2-bit response to Titan A.E.

This movie was great. I've found myself renting it around once a year just because I start really wanting to see it.
