Crank
The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
Silent Hill
Any teen movie made between 1982 and 1989 (Better Off Dead, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire, etc.)
Wayne's World (though I would contend that this is not a bad movie)
300 (I would say this movie isn't bad either)

EDIT: SLC Punk! I really love this movie, and I seriously recommend it. Matthew Lillard is a punk in Salt Lake City. It's really fun.
You've just lost twenty dollars and my self respect.

Laser friggin' Mission. Picture this- Brandon Lee trying to be a mid 80s action star, directed by some random German dude, badly edited, acted, directed. It needs to be MST3K'd soo badly. I can't emphasize seeing this wonderfully terrible movie enough. You can find for $4 At Walgreens, or any other store that has a discount DVD section.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37i1Adt8OFc

A brief plot synopsis- Michael Gold needs to stop Russians (who sound and dress like German Nazis) from combining the world's largest diamond with lasers to make a nuclear weapon.

This movie set me off on a crappy movie binge for a couple of months, but nothing can top its sheer crapulence.

Yeah there's nothing bad about this movie whatsoever, it's comprised entirely of awesome and winsauce.

Any disaster movie, including but not limited to The Day After Tomorrow, Armageddon, Dante's Peak, Volcano, Twister, Deep Impact, Titanic, and The Perfect Storm. (Yeah, I know some of those are actually considered good.)

I LOVE Better Off Dead! And all John Cusack movies, for that matter. And I love the others from that list, except St. Elmo's Fire.

Star Trek: Insurrection
Star Trek: First Contact
Pirates of Penzance (the 1983 movie)

I don't think Pirates of Penzance was bad but the rest of my family does. I've heard only good things about it but then again the only people who watch it like opera.

And thanks to this thread I am now watch Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.

QFT. The sequel ... my god. That movie was indeed shitty. The original is a classic though.

The Fifth Element: Apparently it got atrocious reviews, but it's still one of the best action/sci-fi movies made in a long time.

Demolition Man: I have to second this movie. Bad reviews, awesome flick.

In the MST3K bracket, Space Mutiny has to be one of the best films they ever did IMO.

That's all I can think of right now, aside from the obligatory Matrix trilogy/SW prequels. I liked 'em and the critics be damned.

Anyways, I liked SW:III more than I should of, and the Fifth Element was awesome.

And are we talking about movies that are intentionally hokey, but still good, or movies that tried to be good, and failed, yet we still like watching them?

Why does everyone think Fifth Element was bad? It's one of the coolest action sci-fi movies that have been made in the last 10 years or so.

Van Helsing... I watched that fucker 3 times in the theaters because I was a media major at the time and even I (who have seen most of the movies that have ever been made) was in awe at how bad it was and on how many different levels. Fun game: count how many times people swing on ropes during that movie. If you happen to be holding an alcoholic beverage, take a drink every time they do it. If you're not getting drunk fast enough, try taking a drink every time someone says something stupid like "We Transylvanians always look on the bright side of death." as well.

The sad part is that I REALLY loved the character of Frankenstien's monster in the movie. He had just the right mix of anger, pathos, and innocence. It was if someone had grabbed him from another (much better) film and dropped him in to see if his presence plus Kate Beckinsale's rack could save the film. Alas, they could not. Pity.

Red Zone Cuba (MST3K version). I *love* this movie, all of my friends hate it. It got to a point once where party invites (sent to everyone) would say "Bring any DVDs you want to watch, NO RED ZONE CUBA."

how about a seriously bad movie? i'm a big fan of curse of the komodo.

it's got:
  • a casino heist
  • a helicopter crash
  • a desert island
  • government experiments
  • inexplicable accents
  • bad acting
  • random nudity
  • gigantic breasts with horrible tan lines
  • huge guns carried by women with gigantic breasts
  • an active and badly rendered volcano
  • pointless and nonsensical deaths
  • huge and unbelievable CGI lizards
  • ...that spit poison
  • oh. and zombies
you could not make a worse movie if you tried. it's so bad, it's hillariously entertaining.

if you have a really twisted taste in movies like myself.

I would just like to point out that I fail as a topic creator for this due to Fifth Element being mentioned by so many people. It's rated 7.3 on IMDB (which is actually well in the good category). It was not a flop in the box office either (although not really a success due to a 90 million budget). Most reviewers criticize it but enjoyed it. Ba-da-boom baby!

Define 'bad movie". Is it a mindless action movie or just shitty? I wonder because the ew movies mentioned here that I looked up scored about 60% on rottentomatoes...

(also, @ Grimm: did you say you liked "Manos" Hands of Fate?)
