VNV Nation - "Genesis"

And did our laughter, did our tears
have some purpose after all?
Did we toil in vain, in hope
that wisdom came from what we'd done?
Even lands we once called home
lie undiscovered and unknown.
Only heaven's silence for an answer.

weeeee they were great! havent had a listen in awhile tho, my brother always called them doom metal *shrug* is that no-longer-a-metal band?
anyway, im listening to Jeff Buckley - last kiss goodbye

They *were* a doom metal band. From the period 1991-1997, basically. Then for the last ten years, they've stopped playing doom, and started playing guitar rock. And, contrary to what most purists would have you believe, they are doing their best stuff now, even though it's not doom anymore. (and believe me, i love my doom - i think we had an entire thread devoted to defining/explaining deathdoom a while back).

Anyway, i'm listening to Apoptygma Berzerk - Unicorn. and it's cool.

Flyleaf - Something I Can Never Have

Yes, it's a cover of a Nine Inch Nails song, and the original was a 9/10. The Flyleaf version grabbed a white Sharpie, added some numbers, and scored an 11/10.

I made an absolutely bitchin' playlist mix with Nine Inch Nails, The Crystal Method, Stereo MC's, and lots of Drum and Bass.

Win.

Seabound - "Poisonous Friend"

"I don't recall when this affair began,
She was simply there.
Now I am shaken by the fear she could assault me,
But I must not show it, not to her.

Sometimes I watch her kill,
Cold eyes and no restraint,
And I wonder how it feels,
To annihilate a friend."

Universal Hall Pass - "Misdirected"

"You're on your own dear,
How does it feel?
Can you measure
This -
You quantify everything
With numbers, pulled out of when panic speaks
Tell me....
I don't think you can tell me
Who I am? Well I am
Numb to you, yes I am
Lost to you.
That's enough
I've heard enough
Just go away.

I so, so, SO wanted to like Nile, just because they have song titles like that. Naming a song after a chapter of the book of the dead is so hardcore, I thought to myself, that I *must* enjoy the band who would do such a thing.

But I just....didn't.

killwhitneydead - skip the breakup, get to the make up

I was looking for a girl with the tightest pants
Wanted to see her fucking shake that ass
I saw those legs from across the room
Took my shots and then made my move
She said, "Late night. Hotel room.
We both know what we came to do."
Knew right then I had to make her mine
Little hand said only a matter of time
Until I got her home and back into bed
Screaming so loud she could wake the dead
She said, "Don't stop! Don't stop!
C'mon and make Ginger pop!"
Hit the lights
Keep it steady
Lock and load
Fire when ready

You know ... interspersed with sound clips taken from movies and whatnot. My favourites are "take your pants off, bend over" and "you know that guy who can pick up any girl? i'm him. on crack."

Splashdown - "A Charming Spell"

More sinned against than sinning, please
You're not above my suspicions.
You're lamb and serpent just like me,
It's more than just superstition.
Then suddenly, I'm finding out that it's me
You'll be taking down with you

Hands on the altar for a charming spell
(Be sincere with persuasion)
Go ask your Goddess if you've served her well
(She'll be climbing higher now)

I was listening to Brian Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets

He sang:
People come and go
And forget to close the door,
And leave their stains and cigarette butts trampled on the floor,
And when they do, remember me, remember me.

Some of them are old,
Some of them are new,
Some of them will turn up when you least expect them to,
And when they do, remember me, remember me.

Lucy you're my girl,
Lucy you're a star,
Lucy please be still and hide your madness in a jar,
But do beware: it will follow you, it will follow you.

Some of them are old
But it would help if you could smile,
To earn a crooked sixpence you'll walk many a crooked mile,
And when you do, remember me, remember me.
...the whim of a hat.
