What are you listening to?

It's only cool if no one's heard of it.

Well, Rue Morgue Radio's Hymns from the House of Horror came out today.

So obviously I'm listening to First of May. I mean, why would I listen to that thing I took the time to link?

Eh, I didn't think In Silico was bad, it's just a different style. I'm open to most electronic styles (I'll pass on the happy hardcore, thank you) and I like it sometimes when bands experiment. I'm curious what the new album's going to sound like. People seem to be saying that it's more of a return to their D'n'B roots. But time will tell.

If I ever have a chance to see them live, I probably will. Soooo many bands I need to see live....The only major ones I can cross off that list are KMFDM, Flogging Molly, and Voltaire.

I'm just now listening to Jason Derulo's "Ridin Solo" for the first time start-to-finish, and I seriously want to beat my brains out on my desk because of the fact it's just Bitter Sweet Symphony remixed and with new lyrics. I got nothing against him, and I don't really dislike him either. But I hate that kind of shit. And he already did it with Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek"! :(
Nor do I mind the use of [Antares] Autotune, but only when it's used for it's intended use, not this stupid T-Pain/Robot effect.

I'll agree that experimentation is good, but I just don't think In Silico pulled it off. To me, it didn't have the same raw energy of their older stuff. Overproduced, maybe? And yes, happy hardcore is an abomination that should be stricken from existence.

Revenge is Sweeter (Than You Ever Were)—The Veronicas
I like the way the sound progresses as the song goes on, matching the emotion.

Trus Ne Igraet V Khokkey—Blestyashchie
No Coward Plays Hockey! It's the national Russian hockey song; they sing it before every game. And Blestyashchie is a fun band (but hard to pronounce).

Giant Speck wrote:Oh, I may be atheist, but I'm not going to completely ignore an entire genre because of religious differences. My playlist includes Flyleaf, Skillet, Red, Fireflight, Thousand Foot Krutch, and some other Christian rock and metal bands. As long as the music itself is good, and the Christian references are no more than subtle, I'll happily listen to it.

What irks me about Memento Mori is that it's so different from the first album, Flyleaf. Memento Mori is a big departure from Flyleaf's original mainstream secular-with-a-hint-of-faith sound. It's filled with very specific and straightforward religious references and imagery that, while not offensive in any way to me, is just simply not my cup of tea. Regardless of the shift to faith-based sounds, the music itself is also acomplia much different. With the exception of use seroquel a few songs ("Beautiful Bride", "Chasm", "In The Dark", and "Again"), Flyleaf's sound has gone from strong and powerful to weak, mopey, and vulnerable. Even in the slower ballads of Flyleaf, Lacey's voice shines through. In this album, though, it sort of hides in the dark (no pun intended).

It's your opinion

Early Tom Waits -- "I Hope I Don't Fall In Love With You"

His voice was a lot different in his early years, it's a stark contrast to the raspy voice everyone's used to. It's actually kinda....soothing.
