The album/collection "Word" by Jonathan Brown - a sort of slam-poetry collection put to music, so it's almost like rap.

I'AM - L'Empire du Côté Obscur (remixed from the single)

My friend asked me if I could get her more French rap, which has caused a renaissance of entertainment for me, and persuaded me to track this down again. The version they have on the actual album (L'École de Micro d'Argent) is nowhere near as much fun, and I hadn't listened to this since around 2000.

YES. And Raw Power, especially in its original version (coked-out Bowie mix,) is even more of one in spots.

"WInter" by this band called Bayside. It's an acoustic song about their dead drummer.

"Should we still set his plate?
Should we still save his chair?
Should we still buy him gifts?
And if we don't, did we not care?"
