What are you listening to?

It's only cool if no one's heard of it.

Oh, I like them a lot. Good song!

Currently listening to: Glassjaw - "Ape Dos Mil"
What they call love is a risk,
'Cause you will always get hit
Out of nowhere by some wave
And end up on your own.

My Bloody Valentine – To Here Knows When.

What's the definition of "actual indie"?

I'm currently listening to Lee Corado by some band called The Dao Son For (note the number of hits). That's pretty obscure if that's what counts. I found their CD in a used records store.

Artist - The Faint

track - let the poison spill from your throat

album - danse macabre

I am currently very much love with everything by the Faint. not bad for a band I discovered completely by accident.

My Bloody Valentine – To Here Knows When.

What's the definition of "actual indie"?

Artists signed by independent record labels, such as Eel Pie (Pete Townshend's label), Soul Kitchen/Kitchenware Recordings (who signed Editors), Blue Dog, Fat City, Righteous Babe (Ani Difranco's label) Southern Fried Records (Norman Cook's label), Rough Trade (who signed the Strokes) + about 1000 oddly-named others

Popularity and obscurity is not a definition of indie, although indie acts tend towards obscurity simply because they're predominately on smaller labels. There's also a high noise to signal ratio. I used to get 10-15 promo CDs a week, and about 5% of these I could bear listening through the entire song for. There were a few gems though; Jamie Woon, Taxi Taxi, Ty, & Beirut - go listen to them.

Then post in this thread saying you're listening to them right now.

They put on a fantastic live show!

I'm currently listening to "In Arrears" by MC Frontalot. The chorus is so great, and immediately calms me down if I am frantic or anxious at all.

I think that's too wide a definition. The Strokes aren't that indie as I see it. But alright, obscurity isn't a good measure either.

Currently listening to Treetops by Black Dice.

I'm not a huge fan of Country, but if you like bluegrass/newgrass, I suggest you check out the band Nickel Creek. Their first two albums are like an orgasm in your ears.

The Edge's guitar histrionics at the end of this song are very uncharacteristic, and entirely awesome. A++, would definitey listen to again.

10 år bakåt & 100 år framåt, actually. But yes, bob hund (nb: no capitals) are great.

Currently: The Apples in Stereo - Strawberryfire. It sounds like it could be a song off Magical Mystery Tour.
