ARGH!!!

Postby zingmaster » Wed Nov 28, 2007 7:38 pm UTC

ITT we gripe about missing out on fantastic musical opportunities.

For instance, on Halloween night I left State Street at about 11:30, not knowing that at midnight, Lifehouse began their concert. I missed the chance to see Lifehouse live for free! Dammit! Then, this December, I'll be taking finals here in Madison the day that TSO is supposed to play in my hometown of Minneapolis. Double damn!

Lost tickets -> Missed Mogwai.

Exams meant I missed Cat Power...honest to God if my parents would've ever forgiven me I'd have skipped the exam.

You didn't miss much with Lifehouse. They were pretty disappointing.

I once missed the entire Reading Festival (2003) because both me and the friend I was going with I got very sick right before... Had my festival ticket and plane ticket and everything:(:( Lots of my fav. bands at the time were playing, like Blink-182, AFI, All-American Rejects, Linkin Park + bands I still havent had the chance to see live but would have loved to see, like Pennywise. I still get sad when thinking about it. Sigh:(

In September I got dumped the day we were supposed to go see Finntroll together.
So, I got tired of the fact that the appearance of my band name in my signature made my posts on this forum the dominant result when googling for my music. Anyway, if you think I might happen to be a good musician, you can test this theory here.

I was watching the first television appearance of this band a few months after the fact on youtube, and Conan goes "Next week they're playing (small town thirty miles from me)!". It was like, their last leftover indie booking. Hate.

I don't really kick myself for turning this down. A few people have asked if I was crazy. I said "no" and explained all the reasons for not going.

A few months ago I received a phone call from the local classic rock radio station at work. The DJ on the line told me I had won four free tickets to a Steve Miller Band concert being held at an outdoor park. I kindly turned them down, mainly because I live too far away from said park, about 50 miles or so. Besides, said park is always crowded on Saturdays, when the concert was to occur, and traffic in Atlanta on a Saturday night is Hell to the 10th power.

Besides, the DJ called me on the Friday before the day of the concert, so I really didn't have enough time to plan anything out as far as when to leave for the concert or anything else. Also, I would have to have driven to the radio station to pick them up. I have no idea where it is, nor do I want to know how to get there. They're probably in downtown Atlanta, and it's a pain in the ass to drive through there. Especially on a Friday afternoon.

Five months underage. Denied entry to the Phoenix in Toronto. Missed Porcupine Tree.

We called, too, right after we got the tickets, to make sure it was an all-ages show. We were deceived. Meh.

Killswitch Engage is coming to Grand Prairie, which isn't too far from here, but I can't go because I have no money for tickets and no one willing to take me a few tens of miles on a Sunday night for a metal concert. At least no one that I trust in an automobile. Brrf...

I wanted to see Muse in NYC (I love them to death, my god) but the day that I was allowed to buy tickets (I requested off for my job and convinced my parents to let me take a train in) they were sold out.

I've missed seeing Cradle Of Filth twice: [1]I was young and didn't really know much of their stuff, but they were coming to Cardiff...I listened to a bunch of their music, but it was too late...my friend joyfully informed me of the half naked woman on a ladder made of cloth during Nymphetamine...
[2] I went to Butlins (a holiday resort) for an adults only weekend for a friend's 18th and they were playing the monday I came back in a different city...that wasn't the problem though. One of my friends thought it was on the sunday before we came back, so we didn't buy tickets, yet it was the day after :(

[on a slightly-off-topic-yet-still-staying-on-the-theme-of-things-being-missed-due-to-various-obstructions-etc. note, O , on a trip to Hollywood with my school, I found myself going horse riding over the Hollywood Hills...It was good fun, BUT!!!!

this horse riding expedition just so happened to coincide with the Suicide Girls visiting Virgin Megastores...¬_¬]

I had a chance to see Gorillaz at the Apollo Theater in NY. My friend's dad got two tickets and he didn't want to go, so he gave them to my friend, who asked me if I wanted to go because he knew I liked Gorillaz.

I had to finish a project for a class that I would fail if I didn't hand it in the next morning. There were only two or three grades in each marking period so I probably would have failed the marking period too and killed my year-end grade.

I didn't go.

Missed Daft Punk this year. Will never forgive myself.

Wouldn't pay to see Foo Fighters, so missed NIN supporting them. Changed my mind on the day, and it was too late. Third time I've missed them, and now Reznor is making dark noises about not touring with a full band again. Damn.

Eh. I found out that The Aquabats were playing for free twenty minutes from my house the day after their concert. I managed to get over it. I was going to spend Halloween at the library to see Draco and the Malfoys for free but didn't feel like losing sleep for wizard rock.

I could have seen Eels in 2000 but didn't know how good they were, and missed They Might Be Giants the same year because I found out too late. Come to think of it, my third one was also in 2000, I was given the choice between seeing Less Than Jake with MxPx or seeing what would, at the time, be the last Smashing Pumpkins concert in the UK at Wembley. I chose LTJ and MxPx, which was the right decision at the time, but given that same choice now I wouldn't even consider not Pumpkins. I ind ofmade up for that this year, but seeing Reunion Pumpkins in Orem is not the same at all as seeing Farewell Pumpkins in London.
I have nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion.
And some old pictures.

I missed seeing Wolves in the Throne Room, SunnO))), and Earth because I was on a very boring vacation at the time of the concert.

Missed two or three concerts I was interested in last year just because I forgot about them until after the fact.

I missed getting tickets to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' Hometown Throwdown because I was in school. They sold out in 7 minutes, and I live too far away from Boston to be worth the trip to try at the door :(

I searched the Dismemberment Plan on the music forum and found the poster on this thread talking about missing the Dismemberment plan show. That reminded me of the Dismemberment tickets that I was going to buy after finding a friend to go with me. Checked them again and found out that the only shows in my area are sold out :(

I missed Radiohead (friggin' Radiohead! agh!) because I was in the army and didn't go on leave that particular weekend. Made me feel so betrayed by my country.

Once got sick and missed a Dusty Kid live set to which I had free tickets.. I keep hearing how awesome it was, including from the couple of friends who got in there with my tickets.
